A thread for those who are not royalist

IF YOU ARE A ROYALIST, DO NOT READ.

I’m getting fed up with all the posts saying we need to show respect blah blah blah.

Well, I don’t care. I won’t be watching the funeral either.

I’ve seen so many memes shared that have made me laugh, but I won’t share them here cos I reckon the thread will get deleted.

So if you aren’t a royalist, come and talk about anything and everything. Share a funny meme. Or something sweet

I’ll start with the sweetest thing I’ve read in whole

Sorry to all of you who have lost someone close to you, and those who have been inconvenienced with all this shit. I am losing about £200 I can ill afford.
i also could not give ONE SHINY SHIT about the Queen. There. I said it.
I feel better now!

Oldrockingchair · 15/09/2022 21:51

Also, while I’m off-loading, I am judging those who do. I think they must have something missing in their lives to be so invested in the death of someone they didn’t know, and who didn’t give a shit about them in return.

ParkheadParadise · 15/09/2022 22:47

@MusicOfTheTraffic
Your son will always be way more important than some member of the RF.

Don't know if it’s already been mentioned but I’ve just read that Heathrow are cancelling over 100 flights on Monday so that the skies over London are quiet during the funeral. Passengers are where possible being put on same day flights or can have a voucher or refund.
That’s people’s holidays being ruined. Holidays they’ve worked hard for and will have been looking forward to.

Another disruption I read about was that an exam which some junior doctors were due to sit on Monday has been postponed, but it’s not a matter of them sitting it the next day instead, they have to wait four months until they next get the chance to do it.

It’s all got completely out of hand.

Honestly thought you must be joking when I read this, but nope they really are cancelling flights. I'm so fucking over this shit it's unreal, this country has lost the plot.

x2boys · 16/09/2022 06:24

Whilst being unable to sleep in the wee small hours i was wondering how hyped up the death would have been had we still been in the midst of covid regulations?
They couldn't have had all the long queue, s to see the coffin etc with social distancing etc ?
And on that note I wonder if the all this queuing will spark a massive covid outbreak?

MusicOfTheTraffic · 15/09/2022 21:38

My little boy died aged just eight. Thousands of people never lined up for his funeral despite his death being damn sight more fucking tragic.

So no, I've got no fucking time for it. I can only assume those people crying over someone they never met have never experienced real tragedy. Bully for them.

This is exactly how I feel. I'm so so sorry about your son.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 16/09/2022 14:20

@MusicOfTheTraffic - I'm so very sorry about your darling little boy. I can't begin to imagine what you must be going through, and for your grief to have been compounded by this circus is unforgiveable.

Sending you all positivity and deepest condolences at this terrible time Flowers

FourChimneys · 16/09/2022 14:50

Music Of The Traffic I am so sorry about your son. That is a real tragedy, the queen is not.

Do you want to tell us anything about him?

ChaToilLeam · 16/09/2022 17:11

I am so sorry. That is a true and terrible tragedy. 💐

Not appreciated at all. Footage of endless people walking past the coffin?

Or did I miss something as I skipped through?

Baystard · 16/09/2022 18:29

Listen to the commentary @Elphame !

BruhWhy · 16/09/2022 18:40

Has this whole thing has left anyone else feeling... Disgusted, I suppose is the best way to describe it?

I see people I know and respect(ed) simpering and publicly mourning, shrines and candles set up in their living rooms and statuses on social media being absolutely vicious about people who just don't care as much as they do.

Strangers on TV blubbering. People who struggle to feed their children and pay their rent bowing and scraping to an incredibly rich woman and her incredibly rich son.

I've been unfriended by at least three people for not joining in (and posting a meme poking fun at Liz Truss! Not even the queen!)

I know they see it as patriotic and respectful but all I hear is "I'm a peasant, you're better than me, watch how low I can bow to prove how unworthy and beneath you I am" and it makes me feel queasy.

Sounds like Terry Wogan's commentating of the Eurovision Song Contest!

BruhWhy. Exactly how I feel. Im being very careful who I vent to though because I'm not sure how some of my friends really feel about it as a lot of people youd not expect seem to suddenly have found their inner cap-doffing grovelling serf over the last week.

I know it's weird isn't it?

x2boys · 16/09/2022 19:13

It does seem surreal that for months the news has been full of the cost of living crisis and people worried about paying basic bills ,and we are having a few crumbs thrown at us by the government
Yet all of a sudden we have billions of pounds to parade a coffin around the UK and employ God knows how many armed forces, police ,etc to guard it and the sheer cost if the funeral ,crazy times.

ParkheadParadise · 16/09/2022 19:14

@Baystard

Thank you that video is bloody brilliant.

Soubriquet · 16/09/2022 19:19

It’s also amazing how covid seems to have completely vanished. Like the queen has created this magic bubble and no one will ever be infected.

a few months down they will announce the new queue variant neatly called Q

Yes, that does seem to be the way of the world at the moment: keep quiet about your most deeply-held political beliefs, by pain of 'cancellation'. In certain workplaces - universities being a primary culprit - you can be disciplined or hounded for anything less than complete adherence to a particular ideology. This loopy reverence of our demon overlords is going the same way; the scenes this week are long past bordering on batshittery. At this rate we'll be chanting in slogans, (GTSQ! TWAW!) engaging in linguistic contortionism (newspeak) to avoid upsetting the zealous - imagine 'people with cervixes', for instance - and marching on behalf of the Junior Anti-Sex League (no sex, please! We're Britishit's gender!)

Oh, wait .....

I have the courage of my convictions and am not easily intimidated, but taking on this battle is less courageous than foolish in this climate and could at worst put me out of a job (think Kathleen Stock, and she's not the only one). Biting my tongue is something of a novel concept for me. I'm concerned it's becoming something of a habit.

How the fuck did we arrive in such a grim, censorious place? More to the point, how do we get out?

Yep I'm predicting a massive wave from almost the queuing .

ParkheadParadise · 16/09/2022 19:35

I vent to whoever I like. Most people who know me know I'm definitely not a RF Supporter.
I personally couldn't listen to shite about them and keep my mouth shut.
I think my tattoos of the Pope and rosary beads will tell anyone I'm NO Royalist 😄

I was never a royalist but I was a bit whatever about them
But this last week, well its obscene the amount of money wasted on them .

Myotherdogsaballboy · 16/09/2022 19:59

Baystard. That video is bloody brilliant. I’ve not heard of the guy who did it and will definitely be listening to his live commentary on Monday. I think you’ll have saved my sanity with this.
