A thread for those who are not royalist

Soubriquet · 13/09/2022 17:47

IF YOU ARE A ROYALIST, DO NOT READ.

I’m getting fed up with all the posts saying we need to show respect blah blah blah.

Well, I don’t care. I won’t be watching the funeral either.

I’ve seen so many memes shared that have made me laugh, but I won’t share them here cos I reckon the thread will get deleted.

So if you aren’t a royalist, come and talk about anything and everything. Share a funny meme. Or something sweet

I’ll start with the sweetest thing I’ve read in whole

A thread for those who are not royalist

I am certainly not a royalist in that I admired the Queen but that's as far as it goes for me.
I am not grieving for a woman who lived her best life and died at 96 !
I am not grieving for a woman who lived in a castle and had servants and horses and jewels and a healthy happy life.

I dislike all the PR the TV stations are doing for her excuse of a son and his woman.
And I am not sorry for saying so. It is what I think. And I wish someone would please suffocate the Dimbleby guy

lemmein · 15/09/2022 12:14

On another thread someone described going to see her coffin as,

It sounds like quite a nice night out with DH if we take our favourite snacks.

Batshit.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 15/09/2022 12:17

Jeezus 72 weeks @DreadingWinter

This country is despicable. I was going to say sometimes, but actually it's become a vile little insular island that doesn't give a shite about the common person.

Do these people not understand how death works?

You're having a laugh, aren't you?

I’m waiting for an appointment for an endoscopy. I’ve been having problems now for 8 weeks and I’ve been to the doctors and the A&E multiple times.

Still got no idea what’s wrong with me or how to sort me. I’m in constant pain. I cannot walk. I can’t even take my children to school. I can’t afford a mobility scooter and no charity will help me without PIP. I created a gofundme, and one person donated.

So, yeah, I have no sympathy for a wealthy 96 year old who died

Sorry to read this, it sounds awful. Have you no clue what is wrong? Is it an ulcer?

Soubriquet · 15/09/2022 15:38

No. Not an ulcer. I’ve had numerous tests so far including MRI, CT scan and ultrasound.

The doctors are a bit mystified. I shouldn’t be in this much pain and this disabled at 33 but there we go

What is the Endoscopy for ? Do you have a hernia?

Soubriquet · 15/09/2022 18:41

No. They want to examine my stomach

I’ve been tolerating up until today. All the brainwashed people waiting in that insanely long queue to see a wooden box with a flag draped over it constantly on the news today has been too much. People sat watching a live feed of the same thing over and over, it’s like a cult. The Royals don’t care about the plebs. It was Lord Altrincham‘s reforms in the 1950s that meant they were forced to engage with ‘a broader range of people’.

Im pissed off that DS 8, who is already behind, is going to miss school on Monday. The last thing kids need is any more time off school. They better bloody time the coronation to fit in with the school holidays.

Very true my oldest son is in year 11 it's GCSE year we have just been to year 11 parents evening where it is being drummed into us how important this year is ( like we don't already know) he's not academic but he's he's working hard to achieve at least grade fours, the kids don't need anymore disruption.

Soubriquet · 15/09/2022 20:29

That’s what’s bugged me too. All these new reception started children need to used to this routine quickly. And already it’s being disrupted

I am fast losing my patience with it all as well. I’ve started to despise Paddington, the twee marmalade sandwich eating bastard.

Charles seems like a right cunt as well. Did you see the face he pulled when he was gesturing to have that ink well (or whatever it was) removed from the desk? The entire world was watching and that’s how he speaks to his staff. What a nob.

People are arrested for shouting at Andrew; and yet he is still walking the streets after having sex with a very young, trafficked, woman and openly fraternising with a convicted sex offender. Pretty sure the queen paid off the settlement in the end. Can you imagine the AIBU? ‘DS2 has been mixed up in a bad crowd (some of them are convicted sex offenders) and been accused of raping a vulnerable 17 year old. He is in his forties. Am I being unreasonable to give him millions of £ to make the problem go away? We have a big family party coming up in July!’

its a joke.

👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 brilliant post. Spot on.

nildesparandum · 15/09/2022 20:49

I have not switched my telly on for 5 days now
Nothing of any importance showing at all

Putin could drop a bomb on all of us and we would not realise we have all been blown up until we see her Madge.Provided we all go to the same place as her that is.

ImPickleRickSpartacus · 15/09/2022 21:00

Do these loons actually believe social media is playing no role in the mass hysteria?

MadisonAvenue · 15/09/2022 21:07

Don't know if it’s already been mentioned but I’ve just read that Heathrow are cancelling over 100 flights on Monday so that the skies over London are quiet during the funeral. Passengers are where possible being put on same day flights or can have a voucher or refund.
That’s people’s holidays being ruined. Holidays they’ve worked hard for and will have been looking forward to.

Another disruption I read about was that an exam which some junior doctors were due to sit on Monday has been postponed, but it’s not a matter of them sitting it the next day instead, they have to wait four months until they next get the chance to do it.

It’s all got completely out of hand.

WoodlandMummy · 15/09/2022 21:15

I cannot begin to tell you what a relief this thread is. Pages of sensible, intelligent, SANE posters. Thank you 🙏🏼 I was beginning to lose faith in humanity.

I’m indifferent to the news of an old, obscenely wealthy woman dying that id never met and meant nothing to me. She didn’t cure cancer or solve cold fusion. She was just a rich, pampered, very lucky old lady 🤷🏻‍♀️

blockpavingismynightmare · 15/09/2022 21:31

@Soubriquet Soubriquet. I am no medic but I have had an endoscopy for horrible discomfort and I could see on the camera what was wrong and causing such distress. I have had more than one and found the best way to cope was with mild sedation and throat spray. I was much calmer and more able to cope. The second endoscopy I had caused my blood pressure to be high as I remembered the first.......
Now they know what was wrong and I am able to deal with it my life is back on track.
I am sure you will get to the bottom of what is wrong. You are young and strong and will get it sorted.

MusicOfTheTraffic · 15/09/2022 21:38

My little boy died aged just eight. Thousands of people never lined up for his funeral despite his death being damn sight more fucking tragic.

So no, I've got no fucking time for it. I can only assume those people crying over someone they never met have never experienced real tragedy. Bully for them.

MusicOfTheTraffic · 15/09/2022 21:41

(Sorry, feeling particularly angry this evening.)

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 15/09/2022 21:43

The BBC is currently interviewing someone who met the Queen once in 2017.

This is our national news service.

He just said 'it was like watching someone's grandmother walk in, I was completely gobsmacked'.

What this is bringing to the world, only the BBC knows.
