IF YOU ARE A ROYALIST, DO NOT READ.

I’m getting fed up with all the posts saying we need to show respect blah blah blah.

Well, I don’t care. I won’t be watching the funeral either.

I’ve seen so many memes shared that have made me laugh, but I won’t share them here cos I reckon the thread will get deleted.

So if you aren’t a royalist, come and talk about anything and everything. Share a funny meme. Or something sweet

I’ll start with the sweetest thing I’ve read in whole

The UK has gone bloody mad.
Everywhere closing, people wailing and gnashing their choppers, medical appointments being cancelled....what better way to show your respect to our Madge than to die yourself, I mean, there's dying for queen and country and there's taking the piss!!
I wish I was a florist in London, I'd be retiring next week after selling out to the griefwhores.
I feel more sorry for anyone who has their appointments cancelled than I do for a wealthy, privileged old lady dying.
As I said on another thread, she died in a luxurious bed with everyone dancing to attention with her family there, meanwhile at the same time there was an old person dying alone in a NHS hospital bed where no one gave a shit.
And every time someone says King Charles, I can't help but mentally add spaniel to it, which to be fair, they both have big lugs.

Some one on another thread said the crowds in Edinburgh represented about 0.3 % of the Scottish population

33,000 from a nation with a population reckoned to be 5.5million.

Bear in mind that 33,000 includes people who will have collected a bracelet but got fed up queuing and dropped out, people who went around multiple times, and an inordinate number of tourists who would inevitably have been all over any opportunity to be involved.

I walked along George IV bridge at approximately 1pm yesterday, so a full 2 hours before they shut the queue, and the line was around the corner and up to the National Library, no more than 150-200 yards, hence why you have people like that idiot who claims she was able to go in seven times. They'll try to claim the demand was enormous, but it's self-evident it had totally fizzled out except for a hard-core of lunatics by lunchtime yesterday. Scots quite clearly aren't all that bothered.

Purplelion · 14/09/2022 21:03

I was hoping to be at work on Monday but found out today that we are closing. I think me and my friend will take our kids to a local lake with a picnic

nildesparandum · 14/09/2022 21:17

I am another one who will her telly off all day Monday. In fact I have hardly switched on since last Thursday because it is the same things repeated over and over again. Her entire life story told many times etc, now the gawping weeping and wailing crowds.I went into the city centre with my granddaughter today for a coffee. In front of us in the cafe was a huge television screen reeling off non stop BBC. coverage. We could not escape it.

ImPickleRickSpartacus · 14/09/2022 21:58

I saw an anti-monarchy book in a charity shop window today. I think they just saw a picture of the royal family on the cover and slung it in the window. I don't think it was some kind of statement.

ImPickleRickSpartacus · 14/09/2022 22:01

I can't see the "Thank you, Scotland" thread. I'm intrigued if it will make me rage, cringe and/or laugh. Probably all 3.

Brahumbug · 14/09/2022 22:08

Cancelling operations for people due to the funeral is a fucking disgrace, as if people aren't waiting long enough already.

Iamthewombat · 14/09/2022 22:15

This really made me laugh.

@Iamthewombat
Do you think the 'razzle ' is working this time ?

I can see that ( easily influenced) people get caught up in the bling but won't that fade away fast?
I thought the crowds would be greater.
Some one on another thread said the crowds in Edinburgh represented about 0.3 % of the Scottish population .

God, I hope not! It might be temporary madness only affecting the drama llamas…maybe.

It was deleted

Novella4 · 14/09/2022 22:25

Why was that thread deleted ?

I saw bits of it
Patronising mostly

jesusjoan · 14/09/2022 22:30

@XDownwiththissortofthingX I nearly laughed myself into A&E when I heard about the 7 times woman.

I’m bored with it. I’m a republican. I object to enforced mourning. I object to people being forced to take unpaid leave in this economic climate and I object to being told to leave the UK if I don’t want a monarchy. I am a citizen not a subject and am allowed to express my distaste and to bemoan the fact that we haven’t evolved.
Sory about the rant, I’ve been quite quiet.

You've summed up all my thoughts pretty much. Can't wait for this madness to be over.

A woman on the radio yesterday, her own mother's funeral has been cancelled because the crem is closed on bank holidays.

She has family flying in from America and no date now.

In the scheme of things less important than an operation or chemo but still terrible.

x2boys · 15/09/2022 06:53

Even some of my normally sensible friends have made mec🙄 this week ,one of my friends said I don't understand how the Queen was up and about on Tuesday and dead by Thursday ,she was 96 at that age you could go at any time .

OneFrenchEgg · 15/09/2022 07:31

Someone on the radio queued 9.30pm and got in at 6.30am. For a couple of minutes walking past a closed coffin.

kikisparks · 15/09/2022 08:52

@Daydreambeliever1175 @x2boys @ParkheadParadise very sorry to each of you for your losses 💐

DW and I had a bit of a 'difference of opinion' on the subject yesterday too 😬

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 15/09/2022 11:23

Do these people not understand how death works? Some people obviously decline, others have a sudden event. In any case, she was 96, and had visibily declined in recent months, then a sudden event finally finished her off.

It's not some mystical dedication to her role that kept her going, I am absolutely bored as shite of hearing that. Nobody says it about doctors or nurses do they?

No. It's having the top doctors in every speciality available 24/7. No wait for any tests. Unlike the rest of us. I'm on a 72 week waiting list for surgery.

ParkheadParadise · 15/09/2022 11:54

It's fucking disgraceful have guards around Auld Lizzie's coffin 24hrs a day. Let her family stand guard around it for days.
Then we wouldn't have to watch them in their dressing up clothes fucking about.

My dd was in the undertakers for 3 weeks alone. Then she was overnight in the Chapel before the funeral Mass the next day alone.
I'm really fucked off listening to this shite.
