IF YOU ARE A ROYALIST, DO NOT READ.

I’m getting fed up with all the posts saying we need to show respect blah blah blah.

Well, I don’t care. I won’t be watching the funeral either.

I’ve seen so many memes shared that have made me laugh, but I won’t share them here cos I reckon the thread will get deleted.

So if you aren’t a royalist, come and talk about anything and everything. Share a funny meme. Or something sweet

I’ll start with the sweetest thing I’ve read in whole

Eugh. I cannot handle this again. Hopefully it won’t be such a spectacle. In a related case

This is just shameful. The actual family members are managing to stay stone faced, but people who had no connection to her are doing this...

I'm tired of people telling other people to leave the country if they don't want the Monarchy.

Likewise. I would leave but Brexit put a stop to that 😡

DeclansAFeckingDream · 13/09/2022 19:09

I'm not a royalist. But what a totally weird thread. You can join the hundreds of other threads about other things or start your own, but to start a thread to say that you actively don't care about someone's death is just bizarre. Who cares if you're bothered or not?

Some folks are batshit.

Reread the OP. It explains that the thread was intended as a diversion. You're making an argument against something that wasn't the stated objective in starting the thread at all.

It's Reminiscent of when Dians died and they made the young Prince William and Harry Walk behind the coffin ,and have to deal with all the weeping and wailing from strangers about their own mother
Mind you whilst I was no fan of Diana She died tragically young ,and it must have been heart breaking for William and Harry

Soubriquet · 14/09/2022 16:26

My Nan is not physically able now but if she could she would be one of those people sleeping in the streets and queuing to see a coffin.

She did it for Diana’s wedding. Couldn’t for her funeral cos her DIL was getting married. And she did for Kate and Wills wedding. Tried to drag me along to that one. Then got in a sulk when I refused as I didn’t care for one, and I was pregnant at the time with a high risk pregnancy!!!

Its making me both laugh, and shake my head in disgust at people queuing for 30 hours to see a coffin

The royals learned their lesson well from the Diana circus. Then, they were accused of not caring enough, enabling Diana’s arse of a brother to ponce around speechifying. Which seemed to affect some of the more biddable grief tourists. That’s why the royals are now flying around with a coffin and walking through the streets behind a hearse. That, and the razzle dazzle to show us that they are special and deserve obeisance.

On that subject, in a separate thread some idiot is boasting about her ‘secret that she can now tell’. It’s too exciting. Her husband helped to make the queen’s hearse ten years ago. Imagine! The thread is full of people admiring the hearse and remarking on how respectful the build quality is. I thought that it was a pisstake at first. No.

Huw Edwards will probably be interviewing her on the BBC tonight.

I saw that ,I mean it could be any Hearse really couldn't it?
I remember after the Jubilee a poster claimed to know that the Queen was very ill and she would either get better or she wouldn't implying she didn't have long live
It doesn't take a genius to work out a 96 year old doesn't have long to live does it ?
Wether she had died in two years time or six months ago it wouldn't have been a great shock.

I saw that thread as well. My first thought was "prove it". I mean I could say that I was one of the people who made the flag draped over the coffin ( I didn't), and no-one would know any different. It just came across as attention seeking IMO

Pheefifofuckthisshit · 14/09/2022 18:29

Ah. Thank fuck for this thread! A lone island of sanity in a sea of performance grief and subservience.

I honestly at times have felt like I'm in some sort of very dark satirical work of fiction, as SURELY the majority of the UK aren't all wailing hysterically at a 96 year with a long privileged life and a disgusting amount of wealth passing away peacefully surrounded by family. 🙄🙄🙄

The fact that cancer patients are having ops cancelled, food banks are closing, and people are losing a day's pay or day's holiday is just sickening.

I'm also fed up of what seems to be a news black out. I mean, it's not that I need reminding about black men being killed by the police with no arrests, little girls being shot and no arrests, people dying in Ukraine, or the fact we're heading for a Dickensian style winter but the pure enthusiasm for inane waffling about the Queen instead of actual news is making me feel rather murderous. Oh and DS2 had just gotten into Paddington Bear and this is ruining it for me. Having dodged all the Royalist Propaganda Jubilee Celebrations I was blissfully unaware of his twee afternoon tea with her. I won't get started on the Paddington Pictures. Apparently me questioning the logic of them (is Paddington dead too then?) is disrespectful. 🙄

YogaLite · 14/09/2022 18:30

Apparently the hearse adaptation was to make it as much glass as poss and add lighting so visible when transporting in the dark.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 14/09/2022 18:36

That Camilla pic 😆

ParkheadParadise · 14/09/2022 18:40

Your post gave me a laugh.

The Scottish news was reporting news that wasn't Royal pish tonight.

I don’t know how to link to YouTube videos but if you’ve not seen Michael Spicer’s upload earlier this afternoon, called ‘The News at the Moment’, please please please watch it 🤣. It made my day and will strike a chord with everyone on here.

Novella4 · 14/09/2022 18:55

@Iamthewombat
Do you think the 'razzle ' is working this time ?

I can see that ( easily influenced) people get caught up in the bling but won't that fade away fast?
I thought the crowds would be greater.
Some one on another thread said the crowds in Edinburgh represented about 0.3 % of the Scottish population .

Novella4 · 14/09/2022 19:03

I can see the workmanship on the uniforms and the beautiful voices of the choir but the whole package rings hollow.
Maybe the spectacle was once heavy with history but now it's pastiche

I don't think it's working anyway

PornographicPriestess · 14/09/2022 19:06

I'm thankful there are other here who share the same view. On a thread a couple of days ago those who didn't wish to be reigned over were repeatedly told to go and live elsewhere.

I saw that. It's like the country has collectively lost its mind.

There have been regular threads about what people wanted once the queen passed in the past and there is always a high number of the monarchy should stop.

But guess people get caught up in the ceremony of it all

RiftGibbon · 14/09/2022 19:48

Muted more people on fb today. I swear that the country is going insane.
Someone on my local page has asked if any pubs or bars are open. Someone else has queried whether the food bank will be open. Thankfully that seemed to elicit some sensible comments.

These are broadly the same people who think migrants from Syria should 'stay and fight'. I'd bet a lot of money on that.
