I’m not a royalist by any means but I do feel sad with the queens passing, she seemed a lovely old lady and like many has been a constant all throughout my life…

But OMG I cannot get over than literally 48 hours ago she was still doing duties and standing shaking Liz’s hand looking though frail, smiley and every bit the part, just how?!

She really was incredible.

Hilarious the way so many pro monarchy types feel entitled to demand respect from others while showing none themselves. Fuck that and dial down your arrogance. It's not for you to decide the appropriate tone or content of discussion.

@Cariadm i agree with you and have been slated for it
i have nothing personal against the queen, she always served with dignity and pride. It is the role that should be abolished because I would like to believe we live in a meritocracy and not get privilege just because you are born to the right family. Generally I believe older people are more royalist and the younger generation not so much. I don’t believe the new king will be anywhere near as popular.

I'm not sure how I feel about royalty at this point. Im a very left-wing and my logical brain very much says let's abolish them, but like many others I had a soft spot for the Queen and I actually quite like Charles. However, I struggle with William and maybe that's just because he and I are the same age. I don't believe in God but I can just about get on board with the idea that the Queen and eve maybe Charles truly believe God called them to this job. But does William? Really? So few people of our age are truly practicing Christians, it just feels far fetched to me that a contemporary of mine would believe all of that. And I can't get on board with curtsying to Camilla or Kate etc, not because I don't like them but because they were bought up just like me (okay, in fancier houses and with richer parents, but essentially like me) Kate was a little girl in a shell suit, eating Findus Crispy Pancakes and watching Going Live! Just as I was once, she's not been touched especially by God let's face it.

Basically the deference etc I can just about get on board with for the monarch and the older ones, the ones who've never put a foot wrong really (like Anne say) maybe but it otherwise all just seems really... fanciful that I'm meant to call these people 'Sir' and 'M'am' and now and scrape because they were born with that surname and I was born with mine.

I think that the only way you could mentally deal with the job is that you were called by God.

Sorry but I simply have to question your use of the word 'working'? I am not, as you may have already guessed, in favour of having a monarchy, the whole notion of it is outdated and archaic with it's basis in vastly different and simpler times when monarchs actually had some input and influence!!
The whole idea of 'Royalty' is nonsense to begin with and means very little if you consider that a King or Queen was originally just someone with a bigger army and more followers than the next one and good at winning battles, stealing land and generally causing mayhem, not a very admirable heritage in reality?! Nobody has 'blue' blood, they are just ordinary human beings like everyone else and if they really believe that they are 'ordained by God' well they should be certified and not 'crowned in my opinion!!!
The OTT (and hugely expensive to maintain) pomp and ceremony nonsense is perpetuated for the benefit of the upper classes to maintain the status quo and control but for some reason is still lapped up by the proletariat who really, in this better informed and aware day and age really aught to know better?! 🤔😡

Fortunately, most right-thinking people don't agree with your horrible POV!

I think her health declined far more rapidly than anyone was expecting. Sometimes it happens that way, especially at her age.
