If the Queen passes what will happen?

Regardless of your view in the RF, the Queen has been a huge figure nationally and worldwide for a really long time, her death is going to have an impact.

In terms of immediate impact on ordinary members of the public what will happen?

A period of national mourning? What does that mean?

Schools closed? For the funeral?

Sporting fixtures cancelled?

Things like that, or will it all be business as usual with silences used as appropriate respect?

It's Charles's job to get stuck in and get on with his new job. Being busy at work is one of the things which gets many people through bereavement days. This country hasn't got time for him to go all droopy-modern-self centred and ask for 4 months of bereavement leave. He can mourn for her and have a private tear when he's finished the red box every day. I hope he does a good job.

From a purely selfish point of view I hope there are quick announcements about what will and wont be cancelled. We're due to be celebrating a big wedding anniversary with a weekend in London and I'm not sure I want to go if the things we have booked get cancelled. Especially if the city is going to be full of crowds of mourners, though I guess that might not happen this weekend, since she's in Scotland.

A bit of respect wouldn’t go amiss here. What an extremely unpleasant message .Stuff your wedding anniversary, the Queen has served this country for 70 years, living a life of service and duty. Shame on you

There are just so many people who only seem to think of their own self interest. It says a lot actually.

What a vile comment. I’m sure the queen with all her service would not want a second of your mourning if that is how you act.

Life is for the living. Feel sad, send best wishes, don’t make nasty comments because someone you never knew has died.
