And stop begging for updates to made up rubbish?

Now will people stop believing everything they read on here?
OP posts:

You can tell when stories have been made up - the narrative has a bouncy, would-be chatty tone: 'And so I'm just la de dah, when, all of s sudden .........' and they are engineered to inspire outrage and disgust. There are four or five made-up practical reasons why the poster can't choose the obvious course of action. Sometimes it doesn't matter, as stories simply illustrate wider issues, and get a discussion going.

5128gap · 22/08/2022 22:10

Makes no difference to me. I'm here for the discussion, debate, exchange of views and the humour. I don't care if that's inspired by an OP that's truth or fiction.
What does annoy me though are the guys who come onto threads and deliberate turn the discussion controversial, then keep dropping in to prolong the debate to get juicier quotes for the DM article. There was a recent one about lap dancing where it was so obvious one guy was doing that.

Let’s face it, you’re not mumsnetting properly unless you’ve been sobbing and shaking.

I'm sorry OP but you're clearly a troll...as you didn't include waking the baby, dog, the undead with laughing

You forgot that they’re also disabled

Additional needs, surely?

Usernamenotavailabletryanother · 22/08/2022 22:16

Anything with the phrase ‘fast forward’ = a load of old shit in my book.

Mind you, so are many of my responses.

JaneJeffer · 22/08/2022 22:18

As if anyone would make up stories on here. Don't be so gullible @Inklingpot

HandbagAtDawn · 22/08/2022 22:18

I think there are loads of bots/paid posts on here.

If I’ve been Googling or talking to DH about a specific subject or topic, over the following week I’ll see loads of threads on variations on that theme.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m the only real person still posting on here.

Rogue1001MNer · 22/08/2022 22:19

I'm amazed mnhq are letting this thread stand, tbh

Wonnle · 22/08/2022 22:20

That could come straight out Viz !

PlanetNormal · 22/08/2022 22:20

I believe very little of what I read on MN. And I don’t believe much of what I write on MN, either.

Only a bot would say that.

Hawkins001 · 22/08/2022 22:22

@Inklingpot

shock horror, some may be made up, but how is it any different than watching eastenders, emmerdale, or other soaps or films, as long as we exercise caution, and don't get to invested in threads, then it's light studying of various topics.

Hawkins001 · 22/08/2022 22:23

Plus maybe they ended up in the daily mail, because the op was a journalist, that wrote them.

djdkdkddkek · 22/08/2022 22:24

My apologies

I have a learning disability. Will anyone send me anything?
so how do we do this?
do I set up a paypal or just my bank details
also how much will you send? Do I ask or do you just volunteer
like, I need a procedure

Im really bad at knowing whats real and what's not. I wish the made up ones had a note on them. I often wish c
"Troll hunting" was allowed so others can warn me not to get involved!

People normally put a biscuit emoji 🍪

SausagePourHomme · 22/08/2022 22:26

No shit. There's more troll threads than real ones these days. Not even effortful trolls like the ones in days of yore. Just lazy bullshit. Mumsnet anti trolling rule is to blame.

SausagePourHomme · 22/08/2022 22:26

Anti troll hunting rule

Just read that one.
It's a poor state of affairs when a woman in her 40s can't afford to get melanomas in Benidorm anymore.

GnomeDePlume · 22/08/2022 22:31

tonicwaters · 22/08/2022 21:48

Should I go to A+E or just sit here with my leg hanging off and the femoral artery spurting blood. I have tried a tourniquet but DH couldn't do it, he fainted at the sight of so much blood. I don't know whether I should call 999 or the other one, and I have no family, no friends and no neighbours and my phone is running out of credit. Send me some money

Dear oh dear, cant you just tie the washing line round it (after flicking off spiders) and give it a quick dab of Zoflora?

What makes you think you need to bother the NHS with something so trivial. It's on its knees you know (much like you I expect).

emmetgirl · 22/08/2022 22:31

I'm only here cos' it's mostly Bol lockdown. Entertaining stuff!

TortolaParadise · 22/08/2022 22:33

Entertainment - but always a lesson in there somewhere (if you look hard enough).

no sympathy for the poor cat it was a relief when she popped her clogs

I always believe the trolls but then I worked in retail for half my life so I know that about 87% of people are total fannies.
