Dear oh dear, cant you just tie the washing line round it (after flicking off spiders) and give it a quick dab of Zoflora?

What makes you think you need to bother the NHS with something so trivial. It's on its knees you know (much like you I expect).

But surely the washing line would be darked on along with the sheets, therefore rendering it useless as the aforementioned tourniquet

wrenwick · 22/08/2022 22:40

I actually think probably 90% plus of the threads on MN are real. The vast majority are so mundane (but useful) that there is nothing to be gained by trolling. Eg what household tips save you time, or blended family not working etc etc

baroqueandblue · 22/08/2022 22:41

I read at least one thread a day that is patently fake. The syntax gives it away more than anything else, I find. Sadly it would be harmless if so many of these trolls weren't provoking people to discuss utterly sordid situations involving children, as they all too often are. There was one today, I'm convinced it was some pathetic little pervert sitting on a phone amusing his/her/their twisted self. And people falling for it, hard, bothering to go along with it, because either they're very trusting or don't have much in the way of critical skills. It's a really grim fact of life these days, along with online grooming. But we're discouraged from calling out these people. Best that happens is the thread gets taken down, but not before plenty of people have been drawn in and the OP has got some of the attention they were after Hmm

Personally, I'm relaxed about it. The OP of any given post may not need my sage advice, but it might help countless lurkers who are also dating a guy whose parents abandoned him in England and he didn't get his paperwork sorted out and now he's had his UK citizenship application turned down and can't afford riding lessons or the other hobby he has that's too secret to post here and has to get his girlfriend to pay for a night a month at the Premier Inn where he gets up at 3 in the morning and yells but the police never come and she's not sure if they have a baby girl if it's OK to name her Buddy-Rrhose or if people will mispronounce it and if she should dump the guy anyway because he can't drive.

But yeah, there are bunch of MRAs who troll on here and then post about it on Twatter and Reddit and such. Reddit even has a whole board about how to troll on MumsNet, poor SOBs! 🍆

Ummm that's not what the Reddit thread is for lol.

tonicwaters · 22/08/2022 22:46

Diagram, diagram, you know the rules.

There's rarely a picture from the iPhone 13 taken out the window. But an artistically drawn squiggle of drunken lines and stick folk, and Noddy cars and roundy trees. .

Wonderfulstuff · 22/08/2022 22:46

I'm gonna have to comfort eat a really big salad to get over this shock.

Only a really big salad? You need a huuuuuge salad so big that you, and your kick boxer millionaire husband and 5 ground workers couldn’t finish.online Liars can only be fully expinby esting a huuuuuge salad

Zone2NorthLondon · 22/08/2022 22:55

Exponby is of course expunged

Teddletime · 22/08/2022 22:59

Yesterday there were two very similar threads posted by a PBP (previously banned poster). The same 'awful man'/partner/father story had already been taken down on previous days. So many posters knock themselves out telling the OP to LTB when it is clearly a fishing story. I reported the threads and both were taken down after a while. I did try to warn other posters but they are in full righteous indignation mode and do not want to believe in trolls

WhiteFire · 22/08/2022 23:00

It always amazes me that people outside of Mumsnet are convinced that everyone on MN believes everything that is written.

Fuming

Are you new here? Because we all know that the correct response is "fumming".

BagelandEggs · 22/08/2022 23:12

I think this is a double bluff and they are in fact a Daily Mail journalist, like all the silly posts trying to winkle out outrageous stories they can publish!

HailAdrian · 22/08/2022 23:12

I love it when a thread finds its way on to a certain other site and people are taking the piss out of posters who are cheering an OP on and defending their honour against anyone who questions them.

Nineteenninetythree · 22/08/2022 23:13

I'm surprised their threads last past the third page with the amount of self appointed troll hunters there are on here.

Windypants21 · 22/08/2022 23:18

I think that mumsnet is used by the government as a 'test the nation's thoughts on topics' exercise. So eg an NHS question posted is likely to be a fishing exercise to gauge the temperature, with the OP as a westminister hack coming up with a question or event. Much like at the minute. I worked in a government sponsored job and in my induction was told that 'mumsnet' was a VERY powerful organisation and kind of not to be messed with. 👽

80% of stuff on here is bollocks.

That's a generous number.

'Random' posts fiction on Mumsnet, to pass the commuting time (shock horror)
I post replies, to pass the time when theres bugger all on telly..
Life's a bitch..

MrsLeBouef · 22/08/2022 23:26

I'm just baffled by this 😂

@djdkdkddkek
It was so sudden but at least no vets bill incurred for pillow over the face peacefully slipping away in her sleep. RIP £18 a month burden dearest Mittens.

Doyoumind · 22/08/2022 23:30

I'm quite sure the percentage of bullshit posted on Fesshole is far higher than MN. I don't follow it but it appears in my feed daily as others I follow do and it's clearly largely made up bollocks.
