Always amazes me how people who are really ill either themselves or one of their children and requiring an a+e visit manage to update a thread, sometimes over days and constantly. Whenever I've been in this position either me ill or one of my children, the last thing I think of is to start a mumsnet thread, I either have no signal, I'm saving my battery to message my husband/I'm updating him on what's going on OR I'm sat will a very poorly child giving them my attention. If I'm the one so ill I'm in hospital I'm not sat on my phone giving dramatic updates!

Baoing · 22/08/2022 21:43

There's loads of made-up bollocks swimming around MN at the moment. Summer hols stuff.

As long as no-one is lying about truly important things like whether or not I should switch boiler cover or the relative merits of Maldon Sea Salt, it's fine.

Surtsey · 22/08/2022 21:43

The words 'No shit Sherlock' spring to mind.

NortieTortie · 22/08/2022 21:46

People lying? On the INTERNET?

Shook.

I still want updates, though.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/08/2022 21:48

Shooketh is the word Shock

Well I am shaking and crying at the notion that not everyone is who they say they are on the internet, how awful, I never knew. Sad

Frankly, I’m gutted that the good people on Mumsnet have had the wool pulled over their innocent little eyes .
I always thought it was truthful.
No one the Internet ever makes stuff up..
-Do they???

tonicwaters · 22/08/2022 21:48

Should I go to A+E or just sit here with my leg hanging off and the femoral artery spurting blood. I have tried a tourniquet but DH couldn't do it, he fainted at the sight of so much blood. I don't know whether I should call 999 or the other one, and I have no family, no friends and no neighbours and my phone is running out of credit. Send me some money

Im really bad at knowing whats real and what's not. I wish the made up ones had a note on them. I often wish c
"Troll hunting" was allowed so others can warn me not to get involved!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/08/2022 21:50

The CF visitors...

NippyWoowoo · 22/08/2022 21:52

This is why I wish 👹🏹 was allowed on here, it would be so much fun.

I always have a bingo card and mentally check them on the posts.

If you have a small sticking plaster, try that.

No wonder the NHS is in the state it is with timewasters like those with spurting arterirs clogging up casualty.

Maybe ask the local pharmacy for advice in the morning?
Have you a pic?

Let’s face it, you’re not mumsnetting properly unless you’ve been sobbing and shaking.

You missed out 'all night'. 'Sobbing and shaking all night'.

Echobelly · 22/08/2022 21:55

Good on the fesser-upper I say! 😂

Changemaname1 · 22/08/2022 21:58

😂😂 hopefully they will

and also stop replying to the quite obvious pervs that post questions

Echobelly · 22/08/2022 21:58

What do you think the ultimate Mail-appealing AIBU story would be?

'My SIL parks in our driveway, uses our back garden with her badly-behaved children without asking us and now has invited us to her child-free wedding in Antigua which we can't afford but my PIL will be furious if we don't go'

I don't want to bother the pharmacy they have big queues, and I can't drive now my leg is red and I can't see my knee anymore, and DH is still out cold on the floor at the sight of all the blood.

Should I wait until morning and get DH to drive me in if he recovers, or should I call the GP? I don't want to waste anyone's time but I am getting very weak and clammy what should I do now. I have no one to mind the kids, they want the slide set up. I suppose I could try do that and then take the bus to A+E. Would that be the best?

I have no one, only a DH who looks dead, and a dog that needs to be fed and he is excited jumping all around the place. He smells blood.

notanothertakeaway · 22/08/2022 22:02

Sadly I suspect a lot of the "my DH has cheated on me 5x, does nothing around the house and insults me daily" type threads are true. I'd love to think they were made up

Separately, there are lots of keyboard warriors on MN MN apparently, which is odd as IRL, I find most people quite pleasant and reasonable, willing to talk to their neighbours, help a colleague etc

Just work on the assumption that 99% of threads are completely made up. View mumsnet for entertainment only

SunnyD44 · 22/08/2022 22:05

80% of stuff on here is bollocks.

I agree.

Many times I have been suspicious but you can’t say anything as you’re accused of troll hunting.

You’ve got to be next level fucked up to lie about DV, child abuse, rape or terminal illness like some of them do.

I come here mostly for entertainment and a little bit for advice. Of course a lot of the best entertainment is made up!

It's the best value comedy pages other than P.E..

agedasiago · 22/08/2022 22:07

Personally, I'm relaxed about it. The OP of any given post may not need my sage advice, but it might help countless lurkers who are also dating a guy whose parents abandoned him in England and he didn't get his paperwork sorted out and now he's had his UK citizenship application turned down and can't afford riding lessons or the other hobby he has that's too secret to post here and has to get his girlfriend to pay for a night a month at the Premier Inn where he gets up at 3 in the morning and yells but the police never come and she's not sure if they have a baby girl if it's OK to name her Buddy-Rrhose or if people will mispronounce it and if she should dump the guy anyway because he can't drive.

But yeah, there are bunch of MRAs who troll on here and then post about it on Twatter and Reddit and such. Reddit even has a whole board about how to troll on MumsNet, poor SOBs! 🍆
