Interesting. Thanks.

I wonder what the lawyer will do. I would drop a client if they used me like this. It's not like she can oay him for anything anyway apparently

The lawyer won't take the case on. She had a case against Hopkins because Hopkins had confused her with Laurie Penny (although the judge did criticise Jack for the amounts of tweets she'd deleted, I believe).

In this case, it's Jack's own words, screenshotted for posterity, plus newspaper articles she's done, that are being used against her. The only person who might have a just cause here is actually Tom Kerridge.

She still hasn't done anything after crowing that she was suing Anderson and Fox (and once again, she asked for PayPal donations, to her personal account, to help with legal proceedings which have never materialised).

Bubblebubblebah · 07/08/2022 09:05

Sorry @ermagerdabear (ha nice nick). I meant if he will drop her as a client or will just ignore this.

I am not British and if client went and started accusing people of xenophobia because her lawyer, me, is non british, I would drop them like a hot potato and be VERY insulted. Using antisemitism like this is just disgusting.

Bubblebubblebah · 07/08/2022 09:06

To add if the client started doing it to deflect from their fuck up

She raised that money to self-publish the book and said it wouldn't be available in bookshops. What I don't know is if she initially self-published it and then got picked up by a publisher or whether the publisher spotted an opportunity.

So a few days ago she couldn’t afford shampoo or hot water. Now she’s posting out free books to supporters on Twitter. Astonishing.

SweetSakura · 07/08/2022 09:51

@Bubblebubblebah I would be rethinking whether I wanted to do pro bono work for someone who brought my religion into it and also for someone who was demonstrating, at best, a tenuous relationship with the truth.

I do hope a friend or family member intervenes soon though, and gets her off Twitter for a bit

Clymene · 07/08/2022 10:17

The lawyer she used for the KH case is indeed Jewish. Ut has since moved to Israel. I can't imagine he's going to take this case on. Or indeed that he even considers himself her lawyer.

Funny how someone who can't afford to turn the lights on (0.25p/hour) talks about having a lawyer and an accountant

savethebull · 07/08/2022 10:24

@JubileeTrifle I was going to say exactly this! A couple of days ago it was a heart wrenching story of how her bones are literally crumbling and she can’t afford the absolute basics for herself and her small son in order to live, now it’s all “Oh hi guys! Chuck me your name and address and I’ll wack some free books in the post for you!” How the fuck can she afford postage if she can’t even afford hot water or shampoo?!
I just want to get on with my life really, but I can’t stop thinking about how she’s conning people and taking the piss out of people who are really in poverty.

JubileeTrifle · 07/08/2022 10:40

This is being laid out in front of people and they cannot see it happening.

savethebull · 07/08/2022 10:53

I do think it’s a shame that people on Twitter have started mocking her recipes because it does look like bullying now.
It would have been better if people stuck to the facts that she’s deliberately misleading people to manipulate them out of money. But I suppose it’s an overspill of people being frustrated about what she’s like.
It seems people will support her whatever she does anyway, so nothing probably makes any difference. She could knit jumpers out of actual poor people and the Twitterati would still stand up for her.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 07/08/2022 10:57

"Using antisemitism like this is just disgusting"

I agree. It "devalues" (sorry, can't think of a better word as my brain is fried this morning, I'm sure someone can better articulate this) anti semitism and unfortunately plays right into the hands of anti semites who just love to jump at the chance to say things like "playing the Jewish card", "people take offence at anything" and "sacred caste" etc etc etc.

Criticism of her actions here is driven by evidence written by herself. Deflecting is as anti semitism is abhorrent. It's particularly infuriating if you are Jewish yourself.

@JubileeTrifle It’s so weird, the blinkered-ness. They DO NOT want to know. It’s like a left wing version of Trump supporters.

JM’s fully aware of this. She’s triumphant and no longer fears exposure.

someone on Twitter today compared it with gender ideology and I think they’ve got a point.

I think making a big point of saying 'I've got a JEWISH lawyer, you know' is incredibly antisemitic, as it's using the tropes to try and intimidate people.

But then again, describing people who criticise her online as a 'Cabal' is also using antisemitic language, so it's not a one off for her, either.

SweetSakura · 07/08/2022 11:07

I do think it’s a shame that people on Twitter have started mocking her recipes because it does look like bullying now.

I agree. There's an important story here about someone misleading people for financial gain (essentially fraud) and it's diluted by the nastiness over recipes.

EsmaCannonball · 07/08/2022 11:08

It's awful that she egregiously brought in her lawyer being Jewish just so she could add antisemitism to the list of her grievances. Truly terrible.

JubileeTrifle · 07/08/2022 10:40

This is being laid out in front of people and they cannot see it happening.

They don't want to see it. It's tribal. Jack has said the right things about certain issues and as far as many of her followers are concerned that puts her on a pedestal and she can do no wrong. She could be filmed robbing a bank and they would still find a way to excuse her and make it out to be a Tory stitch up. It's the same mentality as conspiracy theorists. Logic and facts don't matter.

BlossomsOnATree · 07/08/2022 11:15

It does show how some people seem to think that if you have, or claim, even second-hand, some kind of protected characteristic, that means you cannot reasonably be criticised at all. ANY criticism, however well backed up with evidence, is actually just transphobia/homophobia/racism/ND-phobia/disability-phobia/take your pick.

that isn’t what’s meant by “protected” but I’m starting to realise some people really do think it is. If you are trans (even though absolutely anyone can simply say they are and that’s all that’s needed), gay, disabled etc then anyone saying anything other than unadulterated praise is wrong and evil. It’s bizarre.

Maëlys · 07/08/2022 11:29

Yes @BlossomsOnATree, it’s as though the world’s neatly divided into Good Lefty People and Bad People.

Possession of a protected characteristic automatically makes someone a Good Lefty Person and any criticism of them is punching down.

mariatje · 07/08/2022 11:39

I know a few people who have created a rags-to-riches story about themselves and love to repeat it to anyone who cares to listen. That involves claiming to be disadvantaged (ideally in multiple ways). I'm not entirely sure what they're hoping to achieve but I find it quite distasteful.
