Somebody asked if there was any way to use the rinsed sauce rather than waste it. IIRC she suggested as soup, but it would be "thin". 🙄 Or to add it to any other sauce you may be making (I don't know - for pasta perhaps?🤔)

Good god! I thought the rinsed spaghetti hoops sounded bad, but then also making use of the leftover rinsed sauce 🤢

EsmaCannonball · 06/08/2022 13:17

Tom Kerridge doesn't even need shampoo. Bet she's fucking seething.

fedupfrazzled · 06/08/2022 13:24

@GoodJanetBadJanet not suggesting you are JM but she is known for using this site. Fwiw I don't like pile ons but she does seem to invite the drama and then tantrum when things don't go as she expected.

Jack loves pile ons - JK Rowling, David Walliams, THAT MAN, the person who tweeted the rinsed hoops recipe...no one is too big or too small for a Jack Monroe dog pile.

fedupfrazzled · 06/08/2022 13:31

@ermagerdabear yes very true, she can dish it out (lol) but doesn't seem to like it when it's aimed at her. She was awful about David Walliams and while I did agree with some of her points I don't think there was any need to be quite so vile.

Bubblebubblebah · 06/08/2022 13:34

I am well confused about the accusations of transphobia towards people on twitter now (not by JR by other posters)

Bubblebubblebah · 06/08/2022 13:36

PeterPomegranate · 06/08/2022 13:37

I think a lot of the questions about JM are valid - e.g. why she’s asking for money when she seems to have recently made some unwise financial choices like an expensive dog.

But the rinsed spaghetti hoops idea is for people who get cans from the food bank. I agree it sounds horrible but it’s for that specific situation because they are commonly donated and people (understandably) get fed up of them.

It seems like deflection to focus so much on that one idea for doing something different with tins someone has been given.

Bubblebubblebah · 06/08/2022 13:47

Well yes, it is understandable to get fed up of these but do people who use food banks have routinely hard string cheese at home? I assume that means the italian which is like 1.50 a bag. For that you could buy other stuff (which eould also be usable in other dishes) and spice the pasta up or add veg to make it bit different (which can also be done in microwave easily and quickly)

Exactly. As far as I'm aware, you wouldn't get cheese at a foodbank as the whole point was something you can make with the tinned food they give you. Without the cheese it's just a sad plate of tomato sauce infused, mushy spaghetti hoops.

Plus it's patronising AF anyway. I bet 24 rusty Ebay spoons that no one has ever made that recipe (and I'll bet a whole lot more they didn't eat it if they did).

ReneBumsWombats · 06/08/2022 14:15

There must be a way of jazzing up spaghetti hoops that doesn't involve significant waste.

Add grated cheese and black pepper without rinsing the sauce off?

Poyi · 06/08/2022 14:44

When I had to use the food Bank, I put the cheap curry powder in so much, it lasts forever just using a couple of pinches and changes it up. Including beans etc, felt a bit nicer and like a slightly different meal.

Its fucking madness telling people to wash the flavour and some of the calories away and you can make actual pasta in the microwave to add your cheese and olive oil too or just add your cheese to your unwashed hoops Confused

I also used cheap soap, as is, no need to boil it and my lightbulbs stayed screwed jn because how would you afford to buy garden solar lights to replace your inside lighting, it's all a bit mad, overly dramatic and complicated and seems like how someone at the guardian would dream up poverty rather than the reality the majority of people have experienced.

That crossed my mind...

Clymene · 06/08/2022 14:53

I want to know how garden solar lights work indoors with limited sunlight.

Maybe she's got really big windows.

Well that's easy - take them outside during the day to charge them up.

Bubblebubblebah · 06/08/2022 16:38

I winder how long this will keep going on on twitter...

I saw some people who actually work with homeless and people in poverty taking jibes as well.

She makes curry out of tinned custard?

BreatheAndFocus · 06/08/2022 16:45

I just know how it feels having to put up with gobshites thinking they know everything about you just because you put some writing out there

What a disingenuous comment. That’s not the issue and you know it. The issue is she’s asking for money and posting numerous contradictory tweets about her circumstances. It looks dodgy AF.

EarringsandLipstick · 06/08/2022 16:56

She's put out an appeal for supportive tweets (which as she limits who can reply are obviously only going to be supportive.). Loads coming in, and superficially, if you didn't know more, it seems like a 'poor Jack / horrible bullies' narrative.

I don't really like the way it's all going (including here)

I think it's a pity that the properly questionable parts of what she does aren't investigated in the media - as I do think she's been untruthful & taken money on false pretences. Instead the Twitter / SM furore is feeding into attention on her, which she actually likes & it feeds the whole 'victim' schtick she's so fond of.

Bubblebubblebah · 06/08/2022 17:07

No someone is joking about washing the rice (i think!)

Gosh, that must be saving her 20p a day. Perhaps she should get rid of her Netflix sub if she's that broke. Or go and get a job rather than being on Twitter 24/7

JohnsShirt · 06/08/2022 17:15

I'm saying nothing.
