Tom STOLE his famous "rinsed alphabetti spaghetti" recipe?! Shock

I'm dying.
She just doesn't know when to shut up and it's marvellous

Just for that I went and have a look and frankly, someone with her experience and job, should know you CAN cook dey pasta in microwave...

You absolutely can so there is nothing snobbish about pointing out it's nonsensical recipe ffs. If anything it IS cheaper than rinses tin hoops!

Bubblebubblebah · 06/08/2022 09:00

Well that didn't make zense. Went oh twitter and saw argument about the washed pasta and she called people snobbish

Stabbitystabstab · 06/08/2022 09:01

JubileeTrifle · 05/08/2022 20:01

And eat the £100 hat too!

Puddle hat?

JohnsShirt · 06/08/2022 08:29

Crikey, she's claimed that Tom Kerridge, yes the Michelin starred Chef stole her cooking ideas.

He claiming he washed hoops first?
How fucking dare he!

She's accusing ACTUAL chefs of plagiarising her shitty little "recipes" 🤣

She really needs to get back in her box

Bubblebubblebah · 06/08/2022 09:17

I think I know why she is pretending poverty. Firstly, well timed.
Secondly, som are now going after Kerrige because he has expensive restaurant so he shouldn't be on these projects....

In essence, if you are tich and/or talented, either sell your stuff for a pound or stay in your rich box. On the other hand I am sure that's the people who moan about rich people not giving a fuck.

Really fucking sad state of affairs.

The difference is that TK is actually working class and comes from a deprived background but through a combination of talent and hard work has done well for himself. Nobody should begrudge him that.

Jack, on the hand, is a middle class fuck up, who has had a media career and several opportunities handed to her on a plate and is still whining that she can't afford to buy a house because she thinks someone of her status is entitled to one.

TK has a working class background and is an amazing cook.
JM is neither.

LadyScouse · 06/08/2022 09:44

Oh dear. It looks like JM has been fast and loose with the truth and it is now repeating on her.

Bubblebubblebah · 06/08/2022 09:47

Mega arguments under one profile who screenshotted that recipe and i am still surprised how many people do not know you can cook pasta in microwave. It's not like they don't have access to google. Is it perfect? Not really. Is it better than tinned pasta? It is. Did I try it and tinned pasta? Yup.

A bit like her food then

BlossomsOnATree · 06/08/2022 09:56

Chefs have their own styles and things they do, but I don’t see why having or going to an expensive restaurant is bad but having expensive art, designer clothes etc is ok and what jack deserves Hmm

from what I’ve seen of TK he doesn’t prioritise making food cheap, but he does prioritise local produce and supporting uk farmers. That is one way those of us who do have some spare money to spend on food can help and support others who need it.

JubileeTrifle · 06/08/2022 10:09

Worth remembering she has not promoted Full Time Meals as well. Obviously sulking she was excluded from it. Everything I saw him make was wildly different from her style of cooking, I don’t know what she thought he stole from her.

donquixotedelamancha · 06/08/2022 11:15

Not usually but the meals he's done for Rashford's campaign are genuinely cheap, easy and edible (and, of course freely available like every other recipe on the interent).

NotHerRealNames · 06/08/2022 11:15

Does anyone have the Kerridge screenshot?

Clymene · 06/08/2022 11:18

Here you go. It seems quite a few people screenshotted before she deleted.

There have been budget cookbooks forever, of course it’s not her unique thing. We had one from the 1950s when I was growing up and I remember it saying to keep the oil from a tin of fish and use it in another recipe. this one’s from the 1850s.

I do that anyway! Oil from a tin of fish, or a tub of olives, or fat rendered out of bacon, sausages or meatballs - that's the medium I soften the onions in for the next meal.

Are there lots of painters and gardeners trying to grift money off people on twitter too?
Sheesh, and apparently I'm the one trying to miss the point 😂

Strange how your writing style and use of words is just like JM’s, right?

🤣😂 love it, honestly these threads are brilliant for their utter bonkersness.

I see the spaghetti hoops thing is getting greatly discussed everywhere with people arguing it is cheaper than pasta cooking.

Can't resist as I am stingy bastard and so sniff out cheap wherever. Also false economy.

Cheapest spaghetti hoops in asda are 16p. 40% pasta from 395g is 158g of pasta.
Cheapest pasta in asda is 500g of spaghetti for 23p. Thanks to me losing weight I have gone through great lenghts of testing dry to cooked weight and 500g makes cca 1150g of cooked spaghetti. That works out for 100g of cooked product 11p for tinned, 2p for dry ones (when cooked). Since the sauce is washed, extras would then cost the same per portion.
Before anyone mentiones energy to cook these, you can make pasta in microwave as well. With average price per kwh 27p, that would use about 6p for 15min (900w one). Don't forget the recipe with tin still calls for 2 minutes too (negligible though). So even if you cook same portion out of the packet like out of tin, it would cost 8p and be considerably more palatable as well. Now if you cook the whole thing and keep the rest of the pack for other meals (or you are cooking for more than 1) then the power per portion would become negligible essentially at about 1p a portion.

Tldr:tin pasta 16p vs dry pasta 9p per same portion (incl electricity).

Is that correct? Happy to be corrected!

Somebody asked if there was any way to use the rinsed sauce rather than waste it. IIRC she suggested as soup, but it would be "thin". 🙄 Or to add it to any other sauce you may be making (I don't know - for pasta perhaps?🤔)

I really don't want to think of how horrible a mush this tinned "famous meal from hoops" would be. Waste of a16p tin of pasta.

Or a trip to Europe
You don't know how that was paid for.
This sort of shit really annoys me.
I had a holiday with the kids, our first abroad as a family approx 5 years ago now.
Resort, nice pool, evening buffet etc.
Mum and MIL paid for it all, wanted us all to have a holiday, I was. SAHM and could never have afforded it myself.
People seeing my posts on FB, maybe a post of us sat under a palm tree, enjoying the pool or whatever, dissecting how and why you afforded that?!
None of anyone elses fucking business.

She makes it other people's business when she posts it all over the internet.

It's like discussing something highly personal in a public place using a very loud voice and then complaining that people are listening.

Social media is just that - SOCIAL (or anti-social depending on your viewpoint) - people don't have to read it of course - but they do, and you know they do, and they will give their opinions.

Don't like that - stop posting.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/08/2022 13:12

I was aware she had suggested buying baked beans as a cheap way to get hold of haricot beans, washing off the sauce so you could just use the haricot beans for something else. That makes marginally more sense, but still unappealing. I didn't know she'd moved onto spaghetti hoops.
