Things MN has made you paranoid about?

I'll start:
I am fat....therefore I must smell.
I have pets....therefore my house is a germ ridden cess pit, that smells.
I use fabric conditioner on my laundry.....that must smell.
I sometimes wear a bra more than once.....I must absolutely stink on those days.
Obviously this is light hearted, I'm fairly confident I don't offend anyone with my body odour and my house is in reasonable order (and if you don't like it you have the option to piss off to your fresh smelling home!)
What threads do you read that makes you wonder what the general population must think of you?

I think personally, most of the posters on here are people that I would steer clear of in real life so Im not bothered by most of what I read.

I do genuinely think this whole site is quite toxic, its very anti man and anti father. You dont have to be anti anything in order to advocate for the rights or protections of anything else.

Most of the posters seem overly hysterical about most things, everything is a red flag, people need therapy for every little thing, normal emotions are pathologised, people make up rules or laws that they have imagined in their heads.

This!! Net mums get a bashing on here but it’s way more down to earth.

If I really wanted to set the cat among the pigeons (and I do have a cat), I would start a thread about my 'breakfast' this morning which was a pizza followed by a mr kipling slice.

Take that MN

Sandysandwich · 31/07/2022 13:47

I think it helped reading more threads on here and realising that lots of people have loads of very contrasting opinions- lots of which I find bizarre and ridiculous, but I don't memorise their usernames.
So the person who believes something fairly innocuous that would make me self concious might also be one of those people who if I met in person, I would not get on with and would have nothing in common with, and probably wouldn't like, so why would I care if that person also thinks I'm rank for having a toilet brush or whatever.

@adorablecat wankcrust 😂

My DC's names. Two DS, traditional, boring and common (one not top 100 when named and the other ranked thirty at the time of birth.) DD's name is tacky and common, despite her being named after her grandmother long before it was popular. It's Evie, I'm almost scared to admit that.

I have an Evie too :) not even named after a relative, just a name I liked. She's the only one in her school of 300 🤷

I had lemon merengue pie and squirty cream sat in a field in my pyjamas. Am fat and haven't showered since Friday. Also let my dog lick the bowl 😊😊

FreezyFreezy · 31/07/2022 13:51

I have never been invited to, or arranged, a playdate with or for my dc.

I'm a terrible parent because I let my dc play out on the street unsupervised, and have done since they were like 6 or so, and they made their own friends. My dc and their friends are all in & out of each others' houses all the time. Parents are just there and don't actively supervise or get involved at all.

Oh no, I'm wearing skinny jeans with a blue and white striped top....not only do I smell, I'm also dated 😂
Clearly I can no longer be permitted entry into civilised society.

I wear jeggings often with a blue and white striped top, I love stripes and have a lot of stripey tops in different colours.

I am probably not the age or the shape to really get away with wearing them but, hey who cares!! I don't!!😁

Twiglets1 · 31/07/2022 13:53

Just found out I should have been hoovering my mattress & bed all these years

Steelesauce · 31/07/2022 13:54

Most recently that I'm fat at a size 10! Its actually really affected my already very low self esteem.

I no longer wear skinny jeans due to the amount of people saying they are dated (despite finding most of the 'stylish' clothes linked on here something my gran would wear!)

I keep thinking I really need to limit screen time and junk food even though my kids are all slim and active 🤣

Stayathomenamechange · 31/07/2022 13:54

Being a SAHM. Especially because I have actually spotted a so-called friend on here criticising me for this and also (gasp) refusing to sit on the PTA committee! So now I'm paranoid about the judgement of all the school mums.

LiberteEgaliteBeyonce · 31/07/2022 13:54

Formula feeding procedures. I am surprised my kids are still alive.

Coastalcreeksider · 31/07/2022 13:57

Showering! I usually shower every other day, so far no one whenever I've been out and about has fainted at the smell. None of my friend's has ever backed away from me in horror and said Coastal you stink!!

In these very dry times and water being in short supply, I'm doing my bit for the environment.

NotSonicTheHedgehog · 31/07/2022 13:57

Toilet brush
Litter tray
Washing with shower gel
Drying clothes indoors
Drying clothes outside and it subsequently getting darked on

ThinkingForEveryone · 31/07/2022 14:00

@Coastalcreeksider you can also join my 'kicked out of MN society '😁

OP posts:
thesurrealist · 31/07/2022 14:02

Ahh I'm not just fat and nearly 50....but I'm (currently) single and childless so I'm obviously greedy, lazy, stuff my face, slurp and slobber at regular intervals, but I, also immature and irresponsible with it.

Oh and I have a dog that I bought as a puppy and didn't bother with formal training.....

And ima skinny jeans wearing NHS manager.

Do I win?

Proudcarerr · 31/07/2022 14:03

I'm looking at my little sign in my kitchen "This kitchen is for dancing" that is all.....😜

thesurrealist · 31/07/2022 14:04

Oh god I've also just remembered my other sin....when I divorced I kept my married name cos I didn't like my maiden name and everyone knew me by my married name anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

LuluF91 · 31/07/2022 14:08

I love this thread!! I often have to take a break from the site because it makes me feel like such a failure of a mother. The site makes me feel terrible about putting having children first over buying a home and now having anxiety over not being able to save due to rise of cost of living.

Ilikecheeseontoast · 31/07/2022 14:10

mrsmacmc · 31/07/2022 13:18

Having non dyed, side parting hairstyle 😂 throw in my skinny jeans and cardis I'm fit for a nursing home 👵🏼

Is a side partying a bad thing?

Sussex34 · 31/07/2022 14:12

totally this!! 😂

Coastalcreeksider · 31/07/2022 14:13

Oooh another one I'm guilty of.

I only change the bottom sheet every other week. I sleep alone on one side, so I just flip it over to the other side so I sleep on the unslept on side for the second week.

So shoot me! 😱

bellac11 · 31/07/2022 14:14

A side parting? Whats this about?

itsjustnotok · 31/07/2022 14:18

I hate the excuses I read sometimes, it’s made me more paranoid when I see my own DC having issues, it really seems to be the case that some behaviours are immediately excusable. There is an excuse for everything and there’s little accountability.

SecretSnake · 31/07/2022 14:19

The yoot are telling us that side partings are things that old people do and it’s very very uncool.
