Hi all,

So I'm currently wedding dress hunting. Wedding is coming up SO quickly now - with only 50 days to go until the big day!
I've left dress shopping until last as I have been on a bit of a weight loss journey and wanted to stabilise a little before buying my dress.

Anyway.. I've lost almost 6 stone now since the beginning of this year, so I wanted to try and find something elegant, timeless, classic but also slightly fitted to give me a nice shape and to celebrate my loss 🫣😊

Today I tried this dress (below) and I think I'm in love with it.. 🥹🥰 but would love opinions before I go and buy it!

Thank you in advance!

Gives you a lovely shape. Cinches the waist and has a beautiful back. Go for it. It looks lovely.

Bunce1 · 30/07/2022 23:15

I do love it. I do.

There is something about the fit/flow from the waist that doesn’t quite look right.
I think it’s sitting slightly too high on your waist, or maybe it’s the pleats in the skirt. Anyway. It’s giving me a pause.

That being said- the dress and especially the veil is very very beautiful.

It's a bit... boring.

Like you've taken a sheet and tied something round the middle.

Please note - I am both 53 and frumpy.

You look beautiful

It fits really well. Good choice. Nice shade of white.

We’ll done on the weight loss too.

MrsMoastyToasty · 30/07/2022 23:21

I like the clean unfussy lines but I'm not keen on the straight across neckline. It seems a bit shelf like. I think that a sweetheart neckline would be better.
You need to love the dress, not "think you love " it.

It's a lovely dress and futs yiu beautifully. Buy it!
And bloody hell 6 stone is amazing - well done!

itsoneofthosethings · 30/07/2022 23:25

Thank you :)

I had looked at sweetheart necklines and even an illusion plunge but it was just so not me.
I feel really comfortable in this dress, everything's held in place Smile

It and you look stunning !!

strawberrymilk7 · 30/07/2022 23:26

Well done on the weightloss 6 stone is amazing!! I like it but on me I wouldn't like the 'overflow' around the top of the dress. I am very critical of myself though, something with a covering on that area can be more forgiving. If you love it though that is all that matters

Nat6999 · 30/07/2022 23:27

It's beautiful, plain & simple.

SushiShopSearch · 30/07/2022 23:29

I don't normally like strapless wedding dresses but if it has to be then I think this one looks like it's been made for you. It fits your perfectly and looks great (for a strapless wedding dress) :)

itsoneofthosethings · 30/07/2022 23:30

I also think I definitely need to swirl on my posture! 🫣 in some photos I've noticed stand a bit 'hunched over' and so it looks like im spilling out of the dress. When standing nice and straight it looks better I think!!

6 stone is just amazing!

I am not a fan of strapless dresses. They draw attention to all one’s bad bits. Plus, as others have said, you’ll spend the day hooking it up.

Palamon · 30/07/2022 23:33

*hoiking

Mally100 · 30/07/2022 23:38

I think strapless very rarely looks nice. On the day you really don't want to be pulling at it.

Dexy007 · 30/07/2022 23:42

I love this OP! The neckline is so unusual for this style of skirt, normally it's a sweetheart but I love that this is more contemporary. I would personally go.for a less lacy veil with this, I think because this is more chic neckline it warrants a more simple veil.

NeverHadANickname · 30/07/2022 23:42

It is beautiful and if you love it then go for it! I never had to pull my strapless dress up so I don't think it is a problem for everyone if the fit is good. Well done on your weight-loss!

godmum56 · 30/07/2022 23:49

Your dress, your day and well done on the weight loss.....but well yes I see the overspill too both front and back.... It looks to me as though you need a slightly longer in the torso (waist to underbust) bodice because it stops in slightly the wrong place.
Honestly I don't think its your posture. If you did stand straighter that would increase your torso and upper body length, pulling your boobs up out of the bodice and same at the back and making the overspill worse if anything.
I love the style on you, its both flattering and classic and makes the most of your lovely figure but, as i said IMO its not a great fit.
My Mum was a court dressmaker, proper City and Guilds training and everything. I can't make clothes myself but she taught me loads about fit.

Dotcheck · 30/07/2022 23:51

It is so beautiful! I vote yes too ☺️

CockSpadget · 30/07/2022 23:52

Love it! Suits your (new) figure lovely!

Happymum12345 · 31/07/2022 00:02

lovely!

Wineat5isfine · 31/07/2022 00:02

Huge congratulations on your weight loss!

You look beautiful in your dress!

I had a strapless dress and as long as it’s done up properly, you won’t need to “hoik” it up at all.

Butterbeer4All · 31/07/2022 00:08

It's lovely and looks fabulous on you!
