It's hot - what's for tea tonight?

I've got a pizza. Just made up some coucous which will do a couple of nights and will add salad.

My colleague is going around to someone's house tonight for tea and they're cooking a roast - no way could I stand being in the kitchen for an hour or two regularly checking meat and potatoes, as well as the hot plates on.

We’re having pizza and salad as well

itsgettingweird · 11/07/2022 16:02

I had crackers for lunch in the garden in the shade!

Ds has 3 hours swim/gym training this evening and is currently eating a bowl of spaghetti bolognaise.

But as I batch cook I only had to heat it up in the microwave!

I'd love a roast but I'd rather go to Toby Carvery than eat in someone's hot house haha.

We're also having pizza.
I have a tub of Ben and Jerry's for after 😋

Halloumi salad with new potatoes for us

ThreeRingCircus · 11/07/2022 16:07

I cannot be bothered properly cooking in this heat so it's going to be meals that don't require me to be slaving over a hot stove this week.

Oven baked chicken with coleslaw and salad.
Halloumi with cous cous
Sausages on the BBQ with roasted veg
Ploughmans
Quiche and potato salad
Tuna mayo jacket potatoes
"Tapas" of nice bread, salami, olives, cheese etc

legaltigger · 11/07/2022 16:07

Dd has requested tuna pasta

BoJoGoGo · 11/07/2022 16:08

HappyHappyHermit · 11/07/2022 16:09

Roast sounds great actually, quite fancy one but am doing a cheesy vegetable pasta bake at dd's request. She doesn't often get a choice but dh is away and I'm not hungry so will be mainly for her anyway!

caramac04 · 11/07/2022 16:10

Homemade donor in pitta bread with salad and dressing. Maybe followed by ice cream.

LaFeuilleMorte · 11/07/2022 16:10

Teriyaki rice bowl - the actual cooking bit takes less than ten minutes in the wok. I’m just ordering this weeks food delivery and am adding loads of things which won’t require cooking. We’ve also got covid so trying to balance off what we can taste and we fancy with the amount of heat and effort needed to make a meal.

MarshaMelrose · 11/07/2022 16:11

Sandwiches. Wensleydale and carrot chutney from m&s. I just can't be bothered cooking.

GrouchyKiwi · 11/07/2022 16:13

Pasta with pesto.

Rattysparklebum · 11/07/2022 16:13

Spinach and pear soup with some nice bread, strawberries and cream afterwards.

StrangeCondition · 11/07/2022 16:13

Just decided on fish finger sandwiches

Gliblet · 11/07/2022 16:13

Cold sausages (baked at lunchtime so I could leave them to it then leave the kitchen to cool down) and salad.

FindingANewLifePlan · 11/07/2022 16:15

Just getting ready to do my online shop so going to check back here for ideas for this week Grin

MintJulia · 11/07/2022 16:15

Something quick - pate and toast with salad and then fresh pineapple & cream.

If ds wants more, I'll make him an omelette with some oven chips.

stuffnthings · 11/07/2022 16:17

BBQ'ing what's leftover from the weekend, with salad and couscous. Think there's a couple of potatoes lurking, which I'll chuck on the BBQ with some smoked paprika and garlic.

takeitandleaveit · 11/07/2022 16:18

Cold salmon fillets & salad I think. Can't bear to even think about switching the oven on.

AppleHa · 11/07/2022 16:19

We had pizza yesterday and roast veg/couscous the day before and tacos the da before that so I am running out of hot weather food - we are having kedgeree.

PickAChew · 11/07/2022 16:20

Curry. Microwave and hob, no oven. Ds2 (asc) has chips with every meal. They'll be done in the actifry. I've bought him some ready cooked chicken thighs as he doesn't mind them cold.

CiderWithLizzie · 11/07/2022 16:23

BBQ for us!
