It's hot - what's for tea tonight?

I've got a pizza. Just made up some coucous which will do a couple of nights and will add salad.

My colleague is going around to someone's house tonight for tea and they're cooking a roast - no way could I stand being in the kitchen for an hour or two regularly checking meat and potatoes, as well as the hot plates on.

Christ knows! The kitchen is big with doors that slide open onto the garden so it doesn’t get too hot but Dh is still poorly and he does the cooking normally. I did pasta yesterday but it took 20 minutes. No idea what I’m going to rustle up tonight, I’d happily not bother but think they kids would be a bit perplexed 😂 ds in particular has no sense of a diminished appetite in the heat 🤦🏽‍♀️

lilroo87 · 11/07/2022 16:59

I'd love a roast but I'm not standing and cooking one.
We're having beef chilli tacos with homemade guac, sour cream, salad and maybe some rice

Chicken Zorba - it’s off an old sainsburys recipe card. Marinaded chicken in pitta bread with salad and a hummus and Greek yoghurt sauce.

Sandwiches and a bit of salad. Followed by a banana with chocolate ice-cream.

Given the forecast I'm not expecting to cook for at least a week. Might possibly nuke a potato.

OldTinHat · 11/07/2022 17:02

Peered in fridge and looked at salad ingredients.

Too much effort.

Ice lolly for me!

MrsPnut · 11/07/2022 17:02

Burgers tonight, maybe on the BBQ. We have leftover couscous salad that I made on Saturday and a salad bowl to go with them.

Yesterday was chicken souvlaki (cooked on the BBQ) in pittas with salad and couscous.

There may be a theme here.

Flubber88 · 11/07/2022 17:04

Pizza here too and you have just given me the idea of couscous with it for a change thank you x

SilentBob · 11/07/2022 17:06

Chicken, salad, couscous, potatoes in yoghurt and mint, bread, sweat.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 11/07/2022 17:06

On a hot day if you're having pizza, trying putting it in the freezer and then just suck it frozen.

(Don't do this if it has any form of meat on it.)

Sort of pizza lolly I suppose, and a big plus is running the freezer is cheaper than heating the oven.

LilianLenton · 11/07/2022 17:07

Smoked mackerel pate with vegetable sticks, toast, salad etc.

SarahWoodruff · 11/07/2022 17:07

Basically we are planning to live off gazpacho until the temperature drops 5 degrees!

Rosehugger · 11/07/2022 17:07

Beans on toast!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 11/07/2022 17:08

Frittata and salad

AtleastitsnotMonday · 11/07/2022 17:10

My take on Tuna nicoise here. Tuna steaks marinating in balsamic vinegar ready to whack on the bbq for a couple of minutes later.

Vampirethriller · 11/07/2022 16:05

Slow cooker chicken biryani.

That sounds so nice @Vampirethriller

Do you have a recipe by any chance?

IKidsYouNot · 11/07/2022 17:10

BBQ, BBQ and more BBQ this week. I think tonight’s choice is chicken with varying marinades in wraps and some salad. I might stretch myself and season some wedges to cook outside in the actifry, I might just throw a packet of couscous together. 🤷‍♀️ I’m 32 weeks pregnant and this heat sucks, last thing I want to do right now is cook after watching the toddler all day so I’m letting my other half live out his fantasy of cooking on the BBQ every night for the foreseeable.

Decafflatteplease · 11/07/2022 17:13

Desi eggs and chapati for us. Quorn / chicken nuggets and chips for DC in the airfryer

Northernblueberry · 11/07/2022 17:13

Oven-baked risotto. Easy and very nice!

BlackeyedSusan · 11/07/2022 17:14

Tinned curry, with tinned veg and a sachet of microwave rice. 5 minutes in the microwave.

I was pregnant in a heat wave...but on the plus side you are not trying to keep baby from overheating on the outside.

BlackeyedSusan · 11/07/2022 17:15

As the kitchen is already 27 degrees

dontdillydallytoolong · 11/07/2022 17:20

It’s hot…..picky bits of course!! 😉

maddiemookins16mum · 11/07/2022 17:21

I put chicken legs in the slow cooker at 9am. We’re having them with new potatoes and salad.
