Do you believe in any ‘conspiracy theories’?

SaveTheSharks · 27/06/2022 11:27

Just that really. If so, which ones? 9/11 an inside job? JFK murdered by the American government? 5G? Chemtrails? The royal family are lizard?

I always maintain I don’t believe in anything, but at the same time there’s so much I don’t know and I do believe the government are up to some shady crap that we will never learn about…

Not convinced the Vatican meets the definition of a secret organisation.

You need to read more Dan Brown! 😂

What's the Live Aid conspiracy?????

Money was apparently given to warlords in Ethiopia to buy guns

I believe in them all. I’m a bit gullible and impressionable.

I love a good conspiracy theory.

Don’t believe the Earth is flat, though. It’s very much round. I’ve seen pictures.

I don’t believe man has walked on the moon. There’s too many recording errors. The footprints were wrong, the flag wouldn’t be flying and you can see the strings making him bounce. CGI sucked back then.

This might help change your mind!

I totally agree with you here.

i also believe a not very talked about conspiracy theory about a convicted child murderer not being guilty at all but it usually goes down like a lead balloon so I tend to just keep it to myself.

Can we have a clue?

BertaHoon · 04/12/2022 02:16

I thought it was 'proven' quite early on that Dr David Kelly did not commit suicide due to how his wrists were cut not in keeping with his prominent hand.

American and British government both involved in 9/11 and 7/7 so that we could start a 'war on terror' go after Sadam, who had nothing to do with either and whip the Western world up into a frenzy bringing about an end to what had been some peaceful times.

Diana was taken out. That Merc wasn't clipped or crashed due to a flash. Those things are built like tanks at their cheapest. This one was crushed.

Of course CV19 came from the Wuhan lab. The first city to be locked down. However the Americans were paying them to research so who leaked it?

I can't say that I'd heard of Robin Cook being a CT who knows

EmmaAgain22 · 04/12/2022 02:24

I'm always puzzled when MNers say that CTs find comfort or reassurance in their beliefs, though I must say it's a view I only hear on this board. (Like the god awful "old age is better than the alternative").

CTs are mostly terrifying, I don't want to believe these things about poor David Kelly or to worry about what they'll release on the Tube next. Nothing reassuring about any of it.

Not probably as widely known, and maybe not technically a conspiracy theory, but I firmly believe that the "Essex Boys" murders was not the work of gangland revenge/retaliation or a drugs deal gone wrong, but was a case of state sanctioned murder to deal with out of control criminals. No judgement from me tho.

I reckon If this were true then the state would have fixed its sights higher up on more influential and more successful criminals than the Essex Boys who were relatively small fry. They were not big names. But I do think there was something very dodgy going on in respect of the actual murders, and the police 'investigation' and subsequent convictions.

This is true, however they were on their way to becoming big names, and the father of Leah Betts, who died after taking ecstasy they supplied, was a Police officer. Not suggested he was involved but possibly a revenge thing, as her case was so well known.

I’m also interested in this, as I was told by someone who worked in a prison that the female of a notorious duo had been abused into playing her minimal part, and was apparently released with a new identity.

I wonder if this is the same person.
Of course it might all be bullshit, but it’s something I’ve heard from a few sources.

Tukmgru · 04/12/2022 10:53

I think the main thing that prevents me believing conspiracy theories is having worked with many governments and similar institutions (military etc) - the average person can’t keep a secret, even with security clearance. Moreover, large institutions tend towards the Dunning Kruger effect; hundreds or thousands of people are needed to keep a conspiracy secret, and with a good proportion of any population either a) chatty, b) incompetent or c) both, it’s just not going to stay under wraps for long.

Which is of course why we do know about many of them - MK Ultra springs to mind. It’s also a good rule of thumb as to why the moon landing wasn’t faked, for example; waaaay too many people would have to be in on it, and waaaaay more would have said something than had been claimed.

I should add, the chatty/incompetent axis is even worse when it comes to those online ‘truth seekers’ who think they’re following some kind of breadcrumbs that only they (and their friends) can see, despite having zero forensic background , next to no historical / political / anything knowledge, and seriously below average IQs - looking at you, QAnon followers.

I have just listened to a podcast about the assassination of Robert Kennedy and it was interesting how the evidence found differs to the official story of what happened.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. I remember during the trial when I was a lot younger thinking there doesn’t seem to be something right about it all. Then I found a very interesting blog a few years later that made me think hmm 🧐

That a cure for cancer exists but big Pharma make more from the current system of treatments and drugs than they would if a cure was available.

Tell me you know absolutely fuck all without cancer, without telling me you know absolutely fuck all about cancer.

There is no single 'cure for cancer' and there never will be.

DrAliceHamilton · 04/12/2022 12:31

I think there's a distinction between theories which are completely at odds with the way the world, human beings, physics and organisations work, and theories which I happen not to subscribe to but are feasible.

So "we never went to the moon" seems completely impossible, along with "little green men are visiting us but the government is covering it up", "there's a simple cure for cancer but big pharma are covering it up", "the twin towers were blown up by the US government explosives not plane strikes".

But "Aldrin and Armstrong went to the moon but the actual TV footage we saw of the moon landing was faked", along with "David Kelley was murdered", "the bullet that killed JFK came from a panicked secret service agent's gun" are possible .I don't necessarily believe them, but I can't immediately dismiss them as bollocks on the grounds that that's not the way the world works.

Do you have a link to the blog?

PM it if you’d rather, I know people can understandably get very angry over it!

Could I have a link as well please thanks

Lbnc2021 · 04/12/2022 12:50

Let me try and find it later, it’s been years since I read it. I’m just taking the kids out in a wee while but I’ll try and find it tonight and PM you both.

The USA and Britain have given Ukraine billion for weapons etc. The USA know that some of the weapons/cash has been passed on to ISIS.

Delta important to note that poor Leah died from drinking too much water.

Yep, very true, but that was as a result of taking ecstasy that was supplied to her from within the club. A very tragic event, and I don't mean to derail the thread.
