Things that you expected to love but didn't.

I recently tried watching Strictly Ballroom, with the expectation that I'd love it because it ticked so many boxes for me but I didn't enjoy it.

Likewise the Shirley Jackson book, We Have Always Lived In The Castle. It didn't do anything for me and yet so many people rave about it so it's obviously me not the book.

Which things did you think you'd love but didn't?

The Handmaid's Tale book.

Love the series, it's the best thing I've watched in years.

Tried the book and I just can't take to it. I find MA's writing style really clunky and un-engaging and it just doesn't suck me in. I skipped through the last few chapters because I just couldn't be arsed which is very unusual for me with a book.
