Antiperspirant Never paid over £1.50, nearly £4 now!!

It's the hidden increases that annoy me.
e.g. A packet of bacon that used to contain 8 rashers now has only 6 - identical packaging, rashers spaced further apart, & the number 6 in very faint print on the same dark background.
And a pack of branded cheese has dropped from 185g to 170g in the same packaging.

Exactly this. I have noticed this with Dorset Cereals. I can't remember exact figures but they used to do all the muesli's in the same size pack. Lets say it was 800g for £3.50 (guess) now the boxes are 600g and £3.90.

Classic shrinkflation.

Dominos and Pizza Hut charging for delivery.
I always thought it was factored in to the mega prices.

Rotisserie chicken (not an essential, I know). Used to be about £5. Now nearly £7 at Asda. I'd be happy to pay the extra if I knew the birds' welfare standards had improved but sadly I suspect that's not the case.

We’ve bought a 10 in 1 air fryer with rotisserie function - absolute game changer

Diamond7272 · 25/06/2022 19:02

Houses 100%.

Prices in parts of cornwall for 3 beds+ have doubled in 3yrs easily since 2019.

Top trumps the problem of lurpak butter inflation, ish

cheese and butter

but surprisingly my electric hasn’t gone up that much
Im on a pre pay and I keep £100 on it and each week I just top it back up to £100 I normally put £20 a week on since the the increase in April
Before that it would use around £15 a week

But i have a big 5seater hot tub and the increase in my electric has been about £15 a week more and it’s on 24-7

I'm so confused by this

MsOllie · 25/06/2022 19:08

@neveradullmoment99 take the denplan. It generally works out cheaper too

Floella22 · 25/06/2022 19:15

Butter
Chicken
Peanuts, which is a good thing because I eat too many.

Okaaaay · 25/06/2022 19:21

@JackieCollinshasnoauthority that made me snort 😂

ruthgordon123 · 25/06/2022 19:27

I don't know if Heron's foods is just a northern thing but if you can go there for some of your monthly shop you can get some right bargains. Cereals and cleaning products especially.

kikisparks · 25/06/2022 19:29

We used to get recycled toilet paper delivered which was a bit of a luxury as it was already expensive but a box that lasts us 3 months went up by £8 and can’t afford that at the moment so had to cancel.

transformandriseup · 25/06/2022 19:31

Yep. The first couple of pages of Rightmove for my area have properties ranging from £1-3million, if you told me this would happen just a few years ago I would never have believed it.

butterpuffed · 25/06/2022 19:35

Just ordered online 2 pkts blood glucose test strips, £19.66.
Last ordered 25th May, £15.44

Lansonmaid · 25/06/2022 19:44

James Wellbeloved dog food, 15kg sack has gone up £8 in Pets at Home since I last bought it just under a month ago......now looking on line to see if I can find it cheaper.

floppybit · 25/06/2022 19:49

I've just got back from Ikea and I can't believe how much the prices have gone up

andi62 · 25/06/2022 20:31

Anything fishy, what's the point of living on a cramped island?

DelilahBucket · 25/06/2022 20:32

Milk. Was £1.10 last year and now paying £1.50 for 4 pints.
One of my fabric suppliers has had a 45% price increase. I can't pass that increase onto my customers 😔
Another surprise, but for an opposite reason, was a school dinner went up 10p and they have managed to subsidise the rest. I'm very grateful.

pfcpompeysarah · 25/06/2022 20:33

Cat food, was £3.29 for box of 12 pouches a month ago, then about a week ago it went up to £3.80 and today I looked up on Tesco website and it's now £4.50...daylight bloody robbery. I could understand things going up by 10 or 20p but so much is increasing in by 50/60p!!

Rodneytrotterslovechild · 25/06/2022 21:09

My crisps-on offer used to be £1
now £1.25 on offer
my other favourite crisps (never on offer) used to be 65p,now 88p
my favourite chocolate-used to be £1
now £1.05-not a massive increase but if I’m buying 5 bars for the month,it adds up
my steak (I buy it as a once a month treat) used to be £4.99 now £7 so I’ve stopped buying it
price of fresh lamb has almost doubled-I’m buying it frozen every few weeks rather than twice a month
i buy Diet Coke for work-used to be £7 for 30 cans-it’s almost £10 for 24
my meal deal for work has gone up by 50p
i don’t know how much it used to be but my dp commented that French bread has gone up by 50%
Cheese has shot up-and so has cured meats
joint of beef has gone up by about £2
my after work ready meals have gone up by about £1 each unless on offer

my mil commented that she’s had to buy corned beef slices rather than beef slices as she refuses to pay £4 for 4 slices-I don’t know how much the corned beef is-I did say a tin is cheaper but as she lives alone,it would get wasted

Crikeyalmighty · 25/06/2022 21:13

I hate to admit and I'm sure lots of you will agree with it - but after coming back from 19 months in Denmark it's cigarettes!

mamaduckbone · 25/06/2022 21:24

Butter. £1.75 for Lidl own brand ffs!

Blueuggboots · 25/06/2022 21:30

Blueberries!!!! £3.25 last week, £4.50 this week?!

Blueuggboots · 25/06/2022 21:31

@Squiff70 - Costco do rotisserie chicken - think they're £3.95.

PlanetNormal · 25/06/2022 21:33

Waitrose sandwiches. Prawn mayo up £1 from £2.75 to £3.75. No way am I prepared to pay that.

Curiously, beer doesn’t seem to have gone up at all. I’m still buying 4 x 500ml bottles of my favourite weissbier for £6 at Tesco, the same price it has been for years. Morrisons currently has 12 x 330ml cases of Heineken on offer at £8.49. Absurdly cheap.
