Dairylea lunchables. Gone up in price AND there's now 8 crackers instead of 9.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 25/06/2022 16:55

Petrol. I hardly do any long distance journeys now. Everything is local.

FlipFlops4Me · 25/06/2022 16:57

Mushroom rice. A few weeks ago is was £1 a packet. Then it went up to £1.25 and today it was £1.50 - beginning to think I might just as well make my own because I'm not paying that much.

Baking foil, I’m sure it didn’t cost £3.64 the last time I bought it, more like £1.50 or thereabouts, especially for a small one, I appreciate the cost of living has soared but this is a piss take.

Charlize43 · 25/06/2022 17:03

I think it's going to be electricity. By direct debit was increased by £30, which is a massive hike.

pastapestoparmesan · 25/06/2022 17:09

Veg. I always think of it as being cheap but it costs a bloody fortune now. Some things, like cherry tomatoes I’ve given up buying, I don’t like them enough to want to spend so much on them.

BakewellGin1 · 25/06/2022 17:12

@amatsip i came on to say exact same.
DS loves them as a treat but no chance

BackInBlackAgain · 25/06/2022 17:19

Dog food. Start of the year it was £10.50 for 24 tins, it’s now over £15.

GingerGloucester · 25/06/2022 17:22

Dog food! Gone from £45 to £50 for a bag

Cherrysoup · 25/06/2022 17:27

Heinz macaroni cheese. Used to be 90p, staple lunch food for me. It went up to £1.20 some months ago and in Asda today, it was £1.70! £1.70!!

mathanxiety · 25/06/2022 17:36

I'm in the US and petrol has shot up.

Biggest surprise was eggs though - even in Aldi eggs have increased from around $1 to $2.43 a dozen. I don't even bother checking elsewhere.

FelixMadrigal · 25/06/2022 17:37

Weekly food shop has gone from £90 to £130. I can’t even get it for less than £100 in Aldi or Lidl

DianaBarry5 · 25/06/2022 17:41

Regarding dentists, I have found it cheaper to go on the plan which is 2 check ups and 2 hygienist sessions per year. I pay £14 something a month. Also 20% off any treatment needed

pedropony76 · 25/06/2022 17:43

Aldi baby wipes!

Used to be £2.99 for 64 wipes in a box.
Now it’s £3.49 for 60 wipes in a box.

So less wipes for more money. Kill me now

Forestgate · 25/06/2022 17:44

Chicken. Small organic chicken £24 in sainsbury's yesterday. No thanks.

thenumberseven · 25/06/2022 17:53

I'm in Spain and for me it's the fruit and vegetables, last week I paid almost 7 euros for a honeydew melon
Today I bought 4 nectarines, 2 or 3 handfuls of cherries, 12 figs, 1 large red pepper, 3 small green peppers, 6 potatoes, 5 small carrots, a bottle of cooking wine, a packet of biscuits and a roll of garbage bags
I paid 20 euros which is just ridiculous

Nope333 · 25/06/2022 17:55

Lurpak was 3.00 maybe 3.10 for 500g…. Next time I went to purchase was 5.20!

Jaxhog · 25/06/2022 17:57

Whiskas cat food pouches. When you can get them. They used to be 2 packs for a fiver and now they're 4.50 each. Unfortunately, our elderly cat won't eat anything else.

The NHS dentist my kids go to just wrote to us to say due to the costs increase they can no longer afford to offer NHS treatment and so if we want the kids to attend we need to go private.

There are no other NHS dentists taking patients in the area, and I cant afford private treatment for the kids. I dont know what to do.

Could that mean the kids will get NHS treatment if the parents attend as private patients?
That's what my previous dentist did.

diamondpony80 · 25/06/2022 18:05

I normally buy 1kg packs of chicken breasts and found today they've gone up again. I'm pretty sure I was paying only £4.80 for them last year and now they're nearly £6.

StoneWallandRoses · 25/06/2022 18:06

Not from concentrate fresh juice. Supermarket own brand was £1.25 pe litre, or purchase two litres for £2.
Now £1.35 a litre of juice, and no multibuy offers.

Georgyporky · 25/06/2022 18:06

It's the hidden increases that annoy me.
e.g. A packet of bacon that used to contain 8 rashers now has only 6 - identical packaging, rashers spaced further apart, & the number 6 in very faint print on the same dark background.
And a pack of branded cheese has dropped from 185g to 170g in the same packaging.

This is what has happened to me. They are offering Denplan. I don't want to pay anything monthly. I've no idea what to do.

And me. I discovered a packet of lasagne sheets only had 6 sheets instead of the normal 8. Unfortunately l was half way through making one when l discovered this🤷🏼‍♀️
