Sheba pouches up from £5.10 to £5.70
Cat soup up from £1.65 to £2.10
Toilet rolls up from £3 to £3.30

Trying to stock up when things are on offer, everything seems to be soaring price wise.

My DH is a printer and he was printing some menus for our local pub last week.

We used to eat in there fairly regularly as they had a really good gluten free menu (my DD is coeliac)

Simple pub food like ham egg & chips, sausage and mash, etc, has gone up from around a tenner to £15-16. Steak & chips used to be £17 odd and is now £27. I was shocked by just how much they’ve increased prices.

Plus they’ve removed all the GF stuff and replaced it with non-GF vegan dishes (drives me nuts, why can’t they cater to both?) - so it’s unlikely we’ll eat in there any time soon

Not essential I know but airwick Reed diffuser 1.95 up to 7.50 in asda.

Has anyone else mentioned Subway yet?

Until a few weeks ago, we used to get two footlong subs, two drinks and three cookies for about £12.

Last time we went (again, a few weeks ago), the same meal plus one extra bottled drink was just over £18. We immediately agreed we wouldn't be buying from Subway again. It's outrageous!

Whiskas cat food pouches. When you can get them. They used to be 2 packs for a fiver and now they're 4.50 each. Unfortunately, our elderly cat won't eat anything else.

My cat was the same but then due to the horrific cost of cat food I decided to buy a can of Tescos own as it's so much cheaper. Cat actually seems to prefer it. I do buy cans instead of pouches, pouches are way too much. Only problem is it often seems to be out of stock, so I have to stock up whenever it's in.

If you have a mixer make your own butter. You just mix it, then wash it in cold water and add a bit of salt. I think less than a pound for 8oz.

Do you use cream?

SnotsGotTheBoobies · 26/06/2022 17:15

Everything! I did a weeks shop for 4 at sainsburys a week or so ago, and it came to £176! I’ve decided to now shop at Aldi! Whether the family turn their noses up or not, they will just have to make do! I can’t afford that shit!

5zeds · 26/06/2022 20:15

@Bytrgrewd yes, “old” cream is best. Just grab the going out of date ones at the supermarket. I use double. I freeze it in blocks because I don’t use much salt and I tend to do a lot at a time. You can make pancakes with the buttermilk too but I mostly chuck it.

Thank you!

Toothpaste - it's become so expensive

SweatyChamoisPad · 26/06/2022 21:17

@slavetothekittens is that soup made out of cats, or soup especially for cats? 😁

Metabigot · 26/06/2022 21:23

You've never had cat flavoured soup?

Delish..

frugalkitty · 26/06/2022 21:24

Pringles.....£3 a tube, one offer for £2. Obviously you can get unbranded ones, but this is just a ridiculous cost for a tub of crisps.

11Hawkins · 26/06/2022 21:28

Tin foil. £5.50 for a large roll!!

In fact all cleaning products have gone up ridiculous amounts. Stuff like flash mop refills, toilet roll, kitchen roll, washing up liquid.
It's insane.
You'll need to take out a large Loan with the bank soon to do a shop!

11Hawkins · 26/06/2022 21:31

And another one fish.

We have thousands of fisher men depleting the oceans every day... why has cod shot up by £3-4 when they've probably got thousands stocked up in freezers somewhere and more and more coming in every day. 😤

RaspberryParfait · 26/06/2022 21:33

Well not really shocked but just discovered EDF want to increase DD for gas and electric from £210 to £353 from August when fixed tariff ends!

Method spray is now £3.50 a bottle. It wasn’t long ago it was £2.50 and there were regular offers of 3 for £6. I’ve been trying not to buy it but no other spray keeps my sink and drainer so shiny so will probably cave this week!

brookln · 26/06/2022 22:03

Interesting to read, as when I moved to Australia ten years ago this brings up memories of being SHOCKED at the prices.

$19 for a kilo of parsnips, $18 for John Frieda shampoo (£3.5 in the UK), $10 for batiste dry shampoo (£1in the UK).

Even reading price increases on here now, things seem really cheap Grin

Stopsnowing · 26/06/2022 22:11

Butter is Aldis is 1.75. I now just have margerine

I agree, it seems really cheap to me too! 😂

I paid nearly £40 today for a wet cut! Not even a wash and blow dry. Last year it cost £10 to cut my 5 year old daughter’s hair. Today it was £16. Definitely going to delay next cut as long as possible

I always get it cut shorter than it should be and grow it out. Means 3-4 cuts a year rather than 6.

I pay £25 for a wet cut though

Redlorryyellowlorryblue · 02/07/2022 21:36

@Metabigot good idea, thanks.

MuddlingThroughLifeLittleByLittle · 02/07/2022 21:37

A 6pk of the mr Kilpin angel slices ON OFFER was 1.60 in tesco. They used to be 95p
I refused to pay that. It's the only cake ds eats. And doesn't like stores own. But hes gonna have to suck it up

Cloud16 · 02/07/2022 21:41

Energy, houses, and food items we've bought for years, like strawberry yoghurts which used to be 80p for a 4 pack and are now £1.25

We also shopped in Lidl this week and we were £74 for 2 adults. We used to be £55
