We are off to Spain tomorrow, DS has gone out tonight with our blessing... he has a shock coming when he gets home....

Grin

He isn't coming home (staying at a friends) which makes our leaving the house early in the morning easier, we can make as much noise as we like. Anyhoo.....

I have stripped out the pedal bin, (DH placing bets on whether he knows where the fresh bin liners are) 😁

I have put the food bin contents outside but failed to reline the bin.

The dishwasher is full to capacity but whoops I appear to have forgotten to run it before we leave.

None of it major, but all the invisible parts of how a house runs....

Okay…

ballsdeep · 17/06/2022 20:53

Nice. What a weird post

Reallyreallyborednow · 17/06/2022 20:53

what do you think will happen?

in our house whoever empties the bin puts a new bag in. If they don’t no one realises there is no bag.

you may be in for a shock when he has just been throwing stuff in the bin not realising.

the dishwasher presumably he’ll just run when he gets in? I don’t see why that’s a big deal.

EllenWaiteourkid · 17/06/2022 20:55

Oh we are at full on MN, it was meant to be lighthearted as in the invisible stuff hasn't been done, forget I spoke.

OP posts:
Lampan · 17/06/2022 20:55

Won’t he just use the bins without liners in?

bettbburg · 17/06/2022 20:55

I hope he's more mature then his parents seem to be.

Memaww · 17/06/2022 20:55

I don't understand what your post is about?

Memaww · 17/06/2022 20:56

You are rejoicing in leaving a messy home for him to deal with?

BellyDancer124 · 17/06/2022 20:56

OP please explain... I'm totally lost

IsThePopeCatholic · 17/06/2022 20:56

Sounds sad.

JellyBellyNelly · 17/06/2022 20:57

What a daft thread.

00100001 · 17/06/2022 20:58

I see the fun sponges were on special offer today and MN bought the lot.

Did you strip his bed too? See if he knows where the sheets are kept

Alliswells · 17/06/2022 20:58

Hope you have a lovely holiday and enjoy coming home to a stinky bin and a full dishwasher of stinky dishes Wink

HollowTalk · 17/06/2022 20:59

He'll use the bins without liners and cram everything into them and wait for you to come home to empty them. I don't envy you!

Hillrunning · 17/06/2022 20:59

Eh? You seem to be delighting that he may not know how to do two basic tasks. If he is old enough to be left alone but doesn't yet know how to use a bin or dishwasher then I'd see this as a failing on you and your husband actually.

Sponging the fun out of MN is a very serious matter and cannot be undertaken by just anybody. Grin

MrsMoastyToasty · 17/06/2022 21:01

Have you left a pile of damp Bath towels and an empty toilet roll holder?
(If you have omitted these 2 points you are failing as a parent).

Ferrarilover · 17/06/2022 21:02

I'm not sure what your point is. Why do you want your son to get a shock? That sounds a bit irresponsible to me.

theyhavenothingbuttheaudacity · 17/06/2022 21:02

Lolllll at this entire thread

Dilbertian · 17/06/2022 21:02

This is what you'll find when you get home:

He's been using the kitchen bin without lining it, and forgot to put the bins out the night before collection.

He won't have used the food waste bin at all.

The dishwasher will have been run the day you return, but, because he hadn't run it until then, it will be full of the same dishes as when you left and the food will have crusted on so the dishes won't come out clean.

The outside bins will be full of pizza cartons.

Alternatively, you might have a lovely, sensible, resourceful boy who will have:

Lined both bins.

Used both bins correctly.

Emptied them and brought the bins out on the correct day - and put them back again.

Run the dishwasher when he got home, and then emptied it.

Put the pizza cartons in the recycling bin.

Done a grocery shop on the day you return and put fresh flowers in a vase on the kitchen table.

OK, maybe that last one is pushing it a bit.

AnyFucker · 17/06/2022 21:03

I expect you will come back to an even worse messy house 😊

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/06/2022 21:03

Why would you do that?

FlowerArranger · 17/06/2022 21:03

The grown up thing you do would have been to leave him a list of things that he needs to do while you're away. And a list of where everything is kept and how things work. Plus clear instructions for unexpected stuff and emergencies.

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 17/06/2022 21:04

Did you ensure the washing machine is likewise ready to go? Grin

SinnermanGirl · 17/06/2022 21:04

Do you compost?
