We are off to Spain tomorrow, DS has gone out tonight with our blessing... he has a shock coming when he gets home....

Grin

He isn't coming home (staying at a friends) which makes our leaving the house early in the morning easier, we can make as much noise as we like. Anyhoo.....

I have stripped out the pedal bin, (DH placing bets on whether he knows where the fresh bin liners are) 😁

I have put the food bin contents outside but failed to reline the bin.

The dishwasher is full to capacity but whoops I appear to have forgotten to run it before we leave.

None of it major, but all the invisible parts of how a house runs....

YANBU.
Tough crowd in here.
Must be a full moon.

You might find that he's just fucked all the rubbish in and around the bin, without a liner.
And the same dishes might be sitting dirty in the dishwasher, on your return.
But I see what you are saying and I agree.

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 17/06/2022 23:18

This thread is actually mental.

OP is sick and tired of her DA doing half a job or not doing things she has asked.

So in revenge she has done the same back at him.

Not cruel, not pathetic, not abusive. Just a little bit of tut for tat so when she gets home hopefully he will actually finish a job he has been asked to do now he knows how inconvenient it can be.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 17/06/2022 23:22

This is one of the most passive aggressive posts I've ever read on MN.

So you'd rather come home to a stinky house full of rubbish than teach your son how to look after a house? I'll bet his future girlfriends will love you.

KnitOnePearlOneDropOne · 17/06/2022 23:22

Whatever floats your boat

Violinist64 · 17/06/2022 23:23

@WishILivedInThrushGreen totally irrelevant to the post but I love your username. I’m guessing you are a fan of Miss Read’s delightful books.

Either the people reading don't have older children,or are just pretending not to understand.

I get exactly what you're saying...be prepared for the texts off ds 😀

Pretending not to understand covers it perfectly. The current majority are at such peak levels of faux naivete that they come back out the other side and can't remember what they were misunderstanding in the first place.

A few, ok, maybe eight, years ago you'd have had a funny thread with silly suggestions and wry solidarity. RIP your clean house OP, and RIP humour.

Alliswells · 17/06/2022 20:58

Hope you have a lovely holiday and enjoy coming home to a stinky bin and a full dishwasher of stinky dishes Wink

@Alliswells

well her son would be utterly incompetent if that was the case

I’d be embarrassed on his behalf

libbyamelia · 17/06/2022 23:36

You sound wierd and not very kind.

LuckySantangelo35 · 17/06/2022 23:39

Also there will be so many on here whose mind is just blown by the idea of you going on holiday without your son!

he could be 25 and mumsnetters would still be outraged and think you and your husband should still accommodate him and pay for him to come on holiday with you because….he DID NOT ASK TO BE BORN!!

Celeryfavour · 17/06/2022 23:41

So you're leaving tomorrow and could put a bin liner in now and press go on the dishwasher? But instead the night before your holiday you're posting weird mean stuff on MN? Why?

DeeCeeCherry · 17/06/2022 23:44

saleorbouy
He'll eat takeaways so won't need the dishwasher.*
He'll be in your bed with the GF so will have to work out how to use the washing machine.
Hopefully you didn't leave much in the fridge so there's loads of room for his mates beer stash.
He'll be having the last laugh, no you!
😂^ the most likely scenario.

Parents out of the country?! Its game on, party time.

Have a nice holiday OP, and dont worry about it.

Ponderingwindow · 17/06/2022 23:44

Why leave jobs half done?

ArmWrestlingWithChasNDave · 17/06/2022 23:49

Because it's the height of comedy, apparently.

Noglassjustthebottleandastraw · 17/06/2022 23:50

There is no way I could go on holiday with a full dishwasher and a bin without a bag in it. I am the full on deep clean the whole house, strip the beds type.

Threebutterflies · 18/06/2022 00:01

I think it was just ment to be abit of a laugh and lighthearted thread . Some very serious people on here !

Overreaction much! 🙄

00100001 · 17/06/2022 20:58

I see the fun sponges were on special offer today and MN bought the lot.

Did you strip his bed too? See if he knows where the sheets are kept

This 😆

Pyewhacket · 18/06/2022 00:41

You are having a Giraffe ?.

sintrawest · 18/06/2022 00:56

Erm isn’t it kind of your fault if at his age he hasn’t learnt/been taught how to do these basic tasks? Wink

CelestiaNoctis · 18/06/2022 01:20

Is your son to be blamed that you never raised him to do any chores? God help your future daughter or son in law.

onlythreenow · 18/06/2022 01:27

Time to unwatch this thread - it has shown me just how boring and completely lacking in a sense of humour so many people on MN are.
