We are off to Spain tomorrow, DS has gone out tonight with our blessing... he has a shock coming when he gets home....

Grin

He isn't coming home (staying at a friends) which makes our leaving the house early in the morning easier, we can make as much noise as we like. Anyhoo.....

I have stripped out the pedal bin, (DH placing bets on whether he knows where the fresh bin liners are) 😁

I have put the food bin contents outside but failed to reline the bin.

The dishwasher is full to capacity but whoops I appear to have forgotten to run it before we leave.

None of it major, but all the invisible parts of how a house runs....

The fact they are taking bets on whether he knows where the bin liners are is a big clue.

Confused

Fair enough. But surely, just because he doesn’t know where the bin liners are (or claims not to know) doesn’t mean he is physically incapable of lining the bin? Sounds more like he just can’t be arsed with his chores to me. I mean, come on, who doesn’t know how to line a bin? 🤨

Herejustforthisone · 17/06/2022 22:35

He’s just going to fill the sink and put trash straight into the bin, surely?

RustyShackleford3 · 17/06/2022 22:35

He is definitely going to use the bin without a liner. I bet my life savings on it!

(Joke is on you because I am very poor. My life savings could just about cover a new roll of bin liners for your DS)

Tilltheend99 · 17/06/2022 22:37

Is this a reverse and you’re the son?

Summersolargirl · 17/06/2022 22:38

Another bloke raised to be domestically incompetent and unleashed on the world. Awesome. Just what the world needed.

It’s so so funny when you raise a lad to not know this stuff. It’s hysterical. I personally can’t stop laughing at the utter fun of it.I’m glad the op came to tell millions of us what she’d raised.

Oh how we all laughed and laughed.

Oh we are at full on MN, it was meant to be lighthearted as in the invisible stuff hasn't been done, forget I spoke.

How old is he OP?

EmmiJay · 17/06/2022 22:38

Don't think OPs coming back. I wouldn't tbf😬🤣

I see the fun sponges were on special offer today and MN bought the lot.

Did you strip his bed too? See if he knows where the sheets are kept

This. Jesus wept.

CheeeeeeeeeeesusChrist · 17/06/2022 22:42

My bet is that he'll have mates round every night

They'll probably piss in the (unlined) bin and take all of the manky stuff out of the dish washer to steam cook a massive salmon for their lunch on the last day

You should start another thread for unusual uses for an unlined bin and a dishwasher

midsomermurderess · 17/06/2022 21:45

All the worst of MN right here, the earnest, humourless dullness.

Bloody Hell, you're not wrong there.

@EllenWaiteourkid I hope you also put lots of empty cereal boxes in the cereal cupboard. Because that's what you do when you finish something. By the same token, you should have left all the perishables out on the worktop, because it only makes sense to put things away when they are finished with.

Sswhinesthebest · 17/06/2022 22:44

Stolen from Facebook.

Ophicleide · 17/06/2022 22:45

What’s that op I don’t understand. Do bore off you silly fuckers.

Anyone else lamenting the 00’s mumsnet right now? The comments would have been comedy gold

This, too. In spades.

I now realise I should have added "lighthearted" to my previous post. Mea culpa.

MissAmbrosia · 17/06/2022 22:48

I left my 18 yo. She invited her friend round and they cleaned everything! I felt mildly insulted and still haven't found all my oven trays😂

strawberriesarenot · 17/06/2022 22:51

Spiteful.

onlythreenow · 17/06/2022 22:51

Yep - it's turning me right off the site. Everyone is so earnest, not to mention terminally offended, fun has definitely left planet MN.

What’s funny about raising a near adult male who doesn’t know where the bin liners are or how to use a dishwasher? Haha. I’m an incompetent parent and leaving a mess for my kid.. How funny is that.let’s all laugh at my parental incompetence and my sons.

A case in point. God, how boring and humourless are people becoming.

SarahSteedman82 · 17/06/2022 22:55

The whole thing is just odd, more so they way you seem to have thought it is all so funny to do, not sure what lesson you hope he learns but hopefully it won't be just to resent you for your odd behaviour

Spiteful.

Jesus, if that is spiteful, I wonder what word you reserve for the truly bad people out there.

OP I find it funny But think it might really backfire 😂

IncompleteSenten · 17/06/2022 22:59

You'll come back to a sparkling house because he'll do a last minute mad clean to hide the fact he's had parties every night 😁

This 🙄

HappypusSadpus · 17/06/2022 23:08

OP are you drunk?

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 17/06/2022 23:08

Why on earth would you do that? What if something happens to you on your holiday?!

Then she still has a full dishwasher?? No idea what that has to do with anything!
