I fucking HATE this word (light hearted)

... delicious.

It gives me The Ick. Hate it. When I am Queen it shall be executed. Ironically I don't really mind the worst moist, which is universally hated. What words do you hate? Don't really like the word "meal" either. It's just so... weak.

'my bad'

Hate anyone who says it

Fidodidit · 28/05/2022 15:15

Poorly - an image of lumpy sick comes into my head when I hear it although I also find it such a sappy word.

teleskopregel · 28/05/2022 15:15

Resonate, or resonated. As in, that really resonated with me. I can use it in the musical sense but it has me clawing the chalkboard when someone mentions it out of this context.

grafittiartist · 28/05/2022 15:15

Portion for some reason.
And gestates

Nameandgamechange123 · 28/05/2022 15:16

Also the word 'stomach' being used for the abdominal area. Your stomach is literally a place inside your body where the food goes.

Mommabear20 · 28/05/2022 15:17

Xmas 😡 it's CHRISTMAS!

Gotanewlife · 28/05/2022 15:19

Cuppa

LaMarschallin · 28/05/2022 15:19

LonelyInAutumn

when people say "baby" instead of "the baby" e.g. "baby won't _"

Yes - it sounds like they've forgotten its name.

watcherintherye · 28/05/2022 15:20

I really hate the 😋 emoji used to indicate that something is delicious.
It reminds me of someone I knew who used to run her tongue wetly and noisily around her lips and say "Schluuhp!"* to indicate she liked something.
Made me feel sick.

*No idea how to write the exact noise.

Oh, you’ve captured it perfectly, in all its hideousness!

I don’t mind delicious, either, but can’t stand
yummy
scrummy
nom nom
to die for
Mm Mm Mm, in descending cadence.

SatinHeart · 28/05/2022 15:21

Banter

MajesticallyAwkward · 28/05/2022 15:27

Anything twee/cutesy:
Holibobs
Hubby
Cuppa
Kiddies/kiddos
Bubs/baba
Famalam
'Other half' makes my blood boil

Names with bits added on because parents think it's cute - ruby-roo, olliepop, Maisey-moomoo... 🤢 why lengthen just to make it shit?

Usually find the culprits also misuse literally, use the wrong they're/there/their or being/been, unpleasant things are 'discussing' and they're very busy 'making memories'.

Lovewineandchocolate · 28/05/2022 15:29

snack/s and double points for snax
hubster
(and most of the above too....)

I also hate portion!

And nutritious. And meal. A portion of a nutritious meal.. awful.

Activity - particularly in the context of 'craft activity'. It just sounds so pretentious

OwlIceCrem · 28/05/2022 15:37

The poster who called Sainsbury’s ‘Saino’s’ yesterday came in for a bit of a flame.

Poorly- as in feeling ill poorly.

Recently found out my ds also hates it and has done since he was little. He’s apparently even muttered “I hate that word”
when my mother used it once when he was about 5yo

he’s a huge hulking teen now and only just told me.

oh and anyone who calls themselves Mummy. Especially when the kids are older or worse <shudders> adults.

my oh mother (utterly neglectful of oh when he was a child) signs her cards from Mummy and it iks the shit out of me.

Oh dear in Northern Ireland we stay mummy and daddy forever

Oh, and when people start sentences with 'So...'

we have a works monthly talk from those at the top,
and i remember the chief using that phrase on almost every sentence, i cringed.
