I fucking HATE this word (light hearted)

... delicious.

It gives me The Ick. Hate it. When I am Queen it shall be executed. Ironically I don't really mind the worst moist, which is universally hated. What words do you hate? Don't really like the word "meal" either. It's just so... weak.

Hubby - so twee
Hun - I got called 'hun' on a thread the other day. Just no!

A crisp white shirt
A crisp apple

LonelyInAutumn

when people say "baby" instead of "the baby" e.g. "baby won't _"

Yes - it sounds like they've forgotten its name.

Ditto for ‘nanny’

Norners… with that lovely accent you’re forgiven almost anything

Bytrgrewd · 28/05/2022 18:04

ElenaSt · 28/05/2022 19:19

Hun as a familiar greeting.

muddyford · 28/05/2022 19:21

'Focus', unless we are talking about light waves. What happened to 'concentrate'?

Housenoob · 28/05/2022 19:28

I agree with nearly all of these. Never realised how much I actually hate the word 'meal' as well.

Also hate the words 'artisan' and 'bespoke'. They used to be fine until the last few years when suddenly everyone decided to open up their own business selling bespoke cakes or artisan wax melts or whatever.

Johnnysgirl · 28/05/2022 19:29

I've begun to hate "meds" for medicine or medication. Such a pointless shortening.

BingeBitch · 28/05/2022 19:35

Meal gives me the cringe. No idea why.

readingallthebooks · 28/05/2022 19:40

Poorly
Lush
Gopping
Mouthful - as in 'can I have a mouthful of that drink'
Also hate it when anyone other than my kids call me mummy. My mum calls me mummy when talking to me when my kids are around. It's fine when referring to me as mummy and talking to kids but actually calling me that makes my skin crawl.

readingallthebooks · 28/05/2022 19:42

And also baby or babe when talking about the baby or a baby. It doesn't take any longer to say the baby.
'Is baby ok?'

lemonyfox · 28/05/2022 20:10

Butty (for sandwich)

MzHz · 28/05/2022 20:10

I forgot 'jus'!!!

PersilPower · 28/05/2022 21:40

Condiment.
Scrumptious. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang still causes issues for me with the Truly Scrumptious song.

ShirleyJackson · 28/05/2022 21:43

Having ‘a meal’. 🤢
