I fucking HATE this word (light hearted)

... delicious.

It gives me The Ick. Hate it. When I am Queen it shall be executed. Ironically I don't really mind the worst moist, which is universally hated. What words do you hate? Don't really like the word "meal" either. It's just so... weak.

OP posts:

Bubs (baby)
Hubby
"good shout"

StageRage · 28/05/2022 14:21

Yes, big difference between words you find irritating or annoying, and those that make you feel queasy.

LaMarschallin · 28/05/2022 14:22

TrufflesForBreakfast

I think some people on here are putting forward words they find annoying, and some are saying words they find ick.

Interesting! It's a good point. I think I find "boob" and its permutations annoying rather than ick, but 😋 is definitely ick (I can hear her now; thank God she hadn't discovered "Nom!" before I moved away).

DH can rest easy that I wouldn't divorce him for saying "fart", "belly", "bum" and quid" which I dislike; however, if he was a persistent "fag" (as in cigarette), "ciggie" (ditto) or "boiling piss" offender, ducks may have to start being put in rows.

moist (sorry, a cliché), gusset (ditto)
True, they are, but things become clichés because they are true, generally.
I just don't get the dislike 🤷‍♀️

Yeah. Vulva, particularly... I can't even say it 😁

I have to be honest, I really don’t like the word vagina (sorry). I can’t say it and even though it’s become more mainstream I’m sure the women who say it on tv secretly feel awkward. It’s just not an easy word to say and doesn’t sound nice to my ear (regardless of its biology) and was never said out loud when I was younger😐

TimBoothseyes · 28/05/2022 14:28

Nappy...I hate that word.

Penguinevere · 28/05/2022 14:29

The word “brew” for tea annoys me for some reason.

I’m the opposite to others here, I prefer the correct terms for anatomical parts. I just don’t see how the slang terms are less awkward.

ObjectionSustained · 28/05/2022 14:34

Can't bear the words/phrases;

Ick
Hubby
Making memories
Tummy (when adults use it)
Poorly (again when adults use it)
Toms (they're fucking tomatoes it's really not that hard)
Any of the TikTok words/phrases/trends - they all piss me off
Moist
Popping/nipping anywhere
When people say throw, sling, bung, chuck in regards to cooking (just bung it in a pan, chuck it in the oven..) why can't we just put things?

ObjectionSustained · 28/05/2022 14:34

Oh, and when people start sentences with 'So...'

Yes!
Also "a wine" instead of "a glass of wine" and "a tea" instead of "a cup of tea".
However, I don't mind "a whisky/gin/sherry/whatever" or "a coffee".
No idea why.

bakewellbride · 28/05/2022 14:45
