... delicious.

It gives me The Ick. Hate it. When I am Queen it shall be executed. Ironically I don't really mind the worst moist, which is universally hated. What words do you hate? Don't really like the word "meal" either. It's just so... weak.

I suspect it’s seen as common. You’ll get a lot of lofty replies about this, that and the other, but ultimately: meal is non-U.

I don’t know about that, I just hate the sound of it. I would have had no idea if it was ‘common’ when I was young but have always intensely hated it.

For what it's worth (probably not much), in her book "Class" Jilly Cooper gives "That was a tasty meal" as an example of a lower middle class remark.

There are some words that I HATE with the force of a thousands suns, but generally only when written down. Particularly on here.

Hungry. Hate it. Why? It’s the U sound - in my head. Spoken I have no issue with it.

Sadly. Literally only written down and mostly on MN. Because it tends to be used in situations where ‘unfortunately’ would be much better - for example, “no I don’t have a cheese grater, sadly”. Why does it annoy me so much?!

There are others but until I read them I don’t tend to remember them. And I haven’t read the whole thread because I needed to get this down.

Thanks @FuckingNoise Grin

I've name changed because I'm a coward. The non - u comments have reminded me, but I'm not being snobbish, honestly.

Pardon and toilet. Both make me cringe when I hear them.

schnubbins · 31/05/2022 14:54

'I feel you '. No you don't , you feel FOR me .

'I could care less.' No you don't , you couldn't /could not care less

Baby Daddy

Literally being used as instead of just or as a exclamation
