He's an attention seeker like most MPs

But isn't it nice @derxa that on this occasion he is right, or does your hatred of the Tory party go so deep that you can't accept that?

Confused yes what MPs should do is stay at home, never discuss any issues they care about and generally avoid campaigning or speaking up about politics.

'attention seeker' is a pretty basic requirement if you want to be elected.

prettybird · 31/05/2022 22:25

Johnson lies (about Jennifer Acuri, funding, holidays, wallpaper, prorogation, existence of gatherings etc etc), chucks out nonsense policies to distract, oversees a government flinging fast track contracts worth millions to family and friends, rewrites rules at will (Paterson, Ministerial code) and ignores any report that doesn't suit (Patel, Geildt).

But attention seeking Dominic Grieve is the problem here?

Standards really are in the gutter.

newnamethanks · 31/05/2022 22:34

Dear me. All you can do in the face of such apparent inability to look the truth in the face is shake your head in bewilderment.

Blossomtoes · 31/05/2022 23:01

Ah, cut her some slack - she’s doing battle here alone these days.

Peregrina · 31/05/2022 23:01

Dominic Grieve is the most Remainery Remainer. He's always hated BJ.

I've met him. He is a man of integrity. The sort of person who should be the backbone of the Conservative party, not cast out to be replace by the current bunch of spivs and charlatans.

Peregrina · 31/05/2022 23:05

Come on derxa - tell us which politicians you do have time for.

I will grant that none are perfect, because that is human nature - but I would like to think that the majority went into politics because they genuinely wanted to try to improve society.

DuncinToffee · 31/05/2022 23:52

Geidt is still considering his future tonight according to the Mirror

No 10 officials have spent much of day trying to persuade him to stay but “still don’t think they have been successful”.

DuncinToffee · 31/05/2022 23:56

Oh yes, Partygate is a remainer plot, I have seen it being spouted on twitter Grin

I miss the likes of Ken Clarke, Michael Heseltine and dare I say it Theresa May. I didn't agree with them but lying was not the default with them, and they had moral fibre.
Unlike this lot who treat the public as complete idiots and literally make up whatever suits them on the day. I honestly think they have been in power for far too long and have lost their way as a Party. And it terrifies them being the Opposition.
I hope what I'm reading about co-operation between Labour and LDs will come about. A coalition and the Tories gone would be a splendid thing. It's happened in Australia, let it happen here please.
I do think normal sane people are actually very slowly beginning to see through their smoke and mirrors and waking up to what they are like now.

An interesting take on where we are at the moment that I agree with. The best outcome is spot on.

....and?
Does this somehow mean his opinion is worthless? we now only take any notice of those we agree with.

Not so long ago, you too said you disliked BJ but now appear to be his number 1 fan.

Piggywaspushed · 01/06/2022 06:54

I mean, I've heard of Grieve but i imagine many many people haven't. I couldn't have told you a huge amount about him without looking it up to check I was right. This doesn't = attention seeker.

Michael Fabricant
Nadine Dorries
Boris Johnson

= attention seekers.

I think @derxa has no time for any Tory politicians hence their dislike of the relatively moderate Dominic Grieve.

The biggest attention seekers are in the Government. I mean come on... Nadine Dorries does an effing rap about online safety, it was unbelievably cringe. I cannot believe she is a Government Minister. And she only drools over BJ because she and everyone knows, the minute he goes, so will she.

Grieve is one of the better ones and good on him leaving the conservatives and running as an Independent. If he's an attention seeker, (I would never have put that label on him) what the hell is Johnson and Dorries? Attention hoggers??

I was in M&S yesterday, buying some peonies (peony fanciers, they're in season, lots available just now), and the sales assistant was telling me how much she despised Johnson, his cronies and all their works. I didn't initiate this conversation, I just asked for a flower bag which came with an apology for the cost along with the political analysis. In my experience, this is very unusual. If it's become everyday conversation to talk of the Johnson putsch in this way then Bozo had better be packing his Gucci. Hurry up Bozo before those fingernails are prised off the window ledge by people who are definitely not your friends.

Raab on BBC now.
"We need to turn the page on this"
"We need to move on"
"The publc want us to get on with the job"
"we are focussing on the job in hand which is what the public wants"
"The viewers want us to move on"

Rinse and repeat

Yawn. Heard it all before.

He's blinking a lot lol. Not surprised Grin

I am a peony fancier so thank you for that reminder.

Surprised Raab isn't on holiday to be honest.

carefullycourageous · 01/06/2022 07:48

I agree that the general consensus I hear everywhere is Johnson is a liar who cares only for himself. How he rehabilitates his political image I just can't see.

Cornettoninja · 01/06/2022 07:53

Christ, they’ve turned us all into the cheated on partner - “I apologise that I humped your sister and best friends German shepherd now let that be the end of it”.

er no, I’ll decide when it’s time to ‘turn a page’ - I’m the wronged party, the offender doesn’t get to dictate when I move on. ‘Sowwy’ isn’t cutting it.
