I know someone who is in an amateur choir and they were told ( between the lockdowns etc) that they were not allowed to sing at any meet ups they had ( which were socially distanced)
Yet if someone had brought the karaoke machine along that might have been fine ? 😂

...and there was foolish me believing you when you said you didn't like Bojo.

Tories gonna do what Tories do.....

No wonder the original meaning of the word "Tory" is Robbers and Outlaws.

Is Martina Navratilova a Tory?

MP for Carlisle has sent in his letter.

🙄

@derxa You roll your eyes all you like. Is a woman who has XX chromosomes and a man someone who has XY?

Notonthestairs · 31/05/2022 13:39

This is like a see saw, the more Bojo's poll ratings drop, the more MPs submit these letters.

Must admit, i thought it would go the other way after the SG report was published but i guess this issue must be one of the Peoples Priorities we keep hearing about?

Word among Conservative MPs is that Boris Johnson has begun calling his critics, hinting at the prospect of promotion and asking in return that they 'stay with me'. Clearly No 10 feel the threat of a confidence vote if those kind of approaches are being made.

Yes yes yes to this. Through Age UK I have an elderly person I keep in touch with. Her church is very important to her, and whilst I'm not a religious person, I respect what it means to her.
For so very long, they couldn't sing in Church. She suffers with her MH as it is (widowed just a few years ago) and she really missed it so much.
What a shit shower they are.

Steven Swinford

Former Downing Street aide willing to share messages from PM's wife about alleged lockdown gathering in flat with Privileges Committee

Carrie Johnson said to texted that 'the gay boys' were with her in the flat

At that point indoor gatherings were banned

Our Church was closed for some time, then we could only have 30 people and had to book in advance but we still weren't allowed to sing. Meanwhile Johnson and friends partied. Why oh why did we bother? We bothered because we were trying to protect the others. There are still some who used to be regular attenders who haven't yet returned because they are still afraid of covid.

The trouble with that is, at whose expense will he promote them? He daren't boot out even raving incompetents like Dorries and Braverman lest they turn against him. So is he going to create lots of non-posts to give the illusion of promotion? And does he assume the rank and file are too stupid to notice? It'll be like that Gilbert and Sullivan song - "When everyone is somebody, then no-one's anybody."

Lord Moylan is having a mare defending the indefensible on LBC

'Johnson never read his own legislation'
'The law doesn't use the word party'

Nice response from the Secret Barrister:

The law governing assault doesn’t use the words “giant fck-off flamethrower” at all. The words “giant fck-off flamethrower” never appear in the legislation - there is no prohibition on setting fire to people with a giant f*ck-off flamethrower.

Another desperate announcement to keep some of his fans happy Angry

NEW: Home Office announces that the first migrants have started to receive formal Removal Direction letters telling them they are being sent to Rwanda to “rebuild their lives in safety”.

They include people who’ve crossed the English Channel.

Suspect the Government are very much hoping that one of those do-gooder leftie lawyers manages to block this. That way they can grab back a few days of headlines pointing the finger and ranting.
Gives a lovely opportunity to take a swipe at judges too.

Notonthestairs · 31/05/2022 18:50

"In a damning annual report slipped out by No10 before the Queen’s Jubilee, Lord Geidt demanded Boris Johnson account in public for whether or not he thought he broke the Code.
In a stinging rebuke, Lord Geidt said he had repeatedly the Prime Minister to publicly explain why he thought incurring a fixed penalty notice would not be in breach of the code of conduct for ministers - but said: "That advice has not been heeded."

Mike Holden
This is amazing. The "independent" Adviser on Ministerial Standards won't advise the PM he has broken the Ministerial Code because the PM will tell him to fuck off & he'd have to resign. So he'll just leave it?!?

That's how I read it but didn't quite know how to put it in words.

Do Durham police operate like the Met so as long as you don't fill in the questionnaire you don't get fined?

Don't tell 'em Kier and Angela ! Do as the tories do. What's good for the goose ..

Dominic Greve on C4 news is very cross indeed with Bozo "His fingers will have to be prised off the window ledge" of Number 10 is quite mild compared to the rest if the interview. Good. Tories finding a spine, hopefully.

Dominic Grieve is the most Remainery Remainer. He's always hated BJ.

Ah so he has good judgement in some things, that's interesting to learn.

newnamethanks · 31/05/2022 22:02

Yes, Mr Grieve was commenting on what that well known socialist remainer, Lord Geidt, has to say about Mr Johnson. Lord Geidt is the official Ethics Advisor appointed, I think, by Mr Johnson.
