Best concert you’ve been to

Feeling nostalgic and thinking back to my favourite concerts I’ve been to in my time.

Mine would be Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, P!nk, Rihanna, Evanescence, Eminem, Christina Aguilera.

I envy those 10+ years older than me that got to experience some incredible performers such as Michael Jackson, live in concert.

The Prodigy in 1997

Kindofcrunchy · 17/05/2022 14:17

Muse are pretty good live, but hands down, the best live act I've ever seen is Rammstein. Just incredible. Burnt my eyebrows off.

Would have loved to have seen Michael Jackson. The tickets must have been astronomically expensive!

My God, the studio version of Lacrymosa rocks but have you seen their performance on the Synthesis Live DVD (I think it was a 2016 tour). Just wow. Her vocals live are even more flawless than on the studio version.

Breathe No More is just … Ugh. Takes me away to another place. As a fellow pianist, I appreciate both how fluent she is on the piano but how well she sings whilst playing. Not an easy thing to do!

Last but definitely not least, Yes! Their performance of Thoughtless was legendary.

Yes I’ve seen that version of Lacrymosa on Youtube it’s amazing her voice is better than the original. BNM is my all time fave. Thoughtless cover is amazing.

but she has never performed Hello which is my favourite song of all. Gives me goosebumps. I doubt she will ever perform this live because it’s very personal to her

Enjoying reminiscing to some of these.

My best concerts to date include Bruce Springsteen, the Saw Doctors and the Levellers many times. All fab.

Paul Simon in Hyde Park a few years ago was amazing. And Art Garfunkel in beautiful venue in Manchester where I actually cried because it was so perfect and amazing.

Now looking forward to seeing Harry Styles twice in June at Wembley. For any other fans, his One Night Only in New York on Friday (date of his album release) is meant to be streamed on Apple. Should be amazing.

Harry ONO is being streamed, I'll be watching.
I tried for Brixton tickets but didn't get them.
Apparently there's 5000, I had 22,000 in the queue before me for presale, and 35,000 for general onsale, eek!
Still, Glasgow and London this summer so v excited, especially as Glasgow is first.

Did she never perform Hello? I’m almost positive I came across a YouTube video of a very short live performance where she sang this song live? I might be wrong but if I find it, I will link you to it!

You know he's reading the CBeebies bedtime story on Monday night right?

Oh my goodness. I will be tuning in for that 😀

Also jealous of the gigs you’re going to see this summer. Crowded House especially- that will be absolutely brilliant, I bet. I’ve never seen them live but can imagine they’re the sort of band that will sound amazing live. Not all bands are good live. Stone Roses I’m looking at you. Specifically Ian.

We’re going to see the Chili Peppers in Glasgow this summer which I’m very excited about!

Ooooh, Chillis lucky you.
I'm v much looking forward to Crowded House too, it's rescheduled from lockdown and I have lounge access.
Pretending I'm all fancy!
I love being at The Hydro, it's one of my happy places, been there three times this year already (SCD tour/The Wanted/5 Seconds Of Summer), and it was great to be back.
I have terrible taste in music but I enjoy it so I figure that's what counts.

The Prodigy in 1997

I would have loved that.

Mine was Metallica 1993 supported by Megadeth and the Almighty. What a concert that was. We made it to the very front of the snakepit and didn't move for the whole concert. My bladder and knees would not tolerate that now.

Also the Levellers everywhere. They know how to put on a show

Muse, hands down the best bloody concert I have been to!

Absolutely amazed me! They really were a band you needed to see live, the hype was all genuine 😂

No need for past tense, they are very much still around and touring 😂

Still as amazing as ever.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 17/05/2022 14:45

Jeff Buckley at a Bunjies folk cellar in 1994. It was a tiny impromptu gig. He had such phenomenal presence- the place was packed and the ceiling was dripping. My husband was in the music business at the time so we got to lots of gigs that would have been otherwise impossible.

The Black Crowes and The Verve at Brixton academy, would have been about 1992- also The Black Crowes at the (Then) Astoria. They were incredible live.

The Pogues at the Hammersmith Palais- was a total shambles but lots of fun. I was about 15.

Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley, 1992. Just amazing, but Radio Gaga when everyone sort of shuffled themselves into lines to clap was incredible.

That sent shivers down my spine reading that, but in a good way. Wow.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 17/05/2022 14:56

Reef & Feeder in 1996, amazing, I was high as a kite for a week (all naturally).

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 17/05/2022 14:59

I saw Reef in 1996, Bristol Student Union, their support band stayed at my student house and my friend shagged one of them

Marilyn Manson in 97, my first gig so a bit special.
Pantera in 2000
Pulp in 2001/2
The Damned (I've seen them a few times now)
Devin Townsend/Strapping Young Lad (also seen a few times)
Mortiis in 2004/5
The Cure in 2016
Jarv Is in 2018 I think it was (Jarvis Cockers solo stuff).

I would have loved to have seen David Bowie and Type O Negative back in the day.

hope you enjoy your trips to see Harry this summer. Did you see his Coachella performances online?

FitAt50 · 17/05/2022 15:31

Sophie Ellis Bextor in Birmingham back in 2019. My husband dragged me along as he is a massive fan - she was fantastic and totally converted me. First half was all her hits with an orchestra - Second half with like a disco. Truly great singer and deserves a lot more fame than she has.

I saw them and loved them, particularly his performance with Shania Twain.

Anyone ever seen KoRn live by any chance? Like, in their prime? Or even recently? Neither matters to be honest because their talent and music ethic is timeless.

Me @runnerblade95

Glasgow Barrowlands. Maybe 95/97 or thereabouts. They came to the Cathouse nightclub after and mingled chatting to all the fans.
I was listening to them yesterday on a long road trip. Amazing band.

Wow @Cheeseandlobster that sounds amazing! As a now Metallica fan I would love that!
Wasn't a fan back then although I was of The Almighty and saw them several times. Still have them on regular rotation too.

Frankie Goes to Hollywood 1985 Hammersmith Odeon... Brilliant!
Elton John Portman Road 2004... The Scissor Sisters were the support for the rest of the tour. We got to the gate and I asked who the support was... "James Blunt.." "Who the hell is he??" Six months later everyone knew.
My friends husband drew the short straw and ended up sitting next to me. He evicted me into the aisle to dance halfway through.. Apparently the next morning he reckoned he had cracked ribs from my elbow, Parkinsons from me jiggling in my seat and deafness due to my whistle blowing!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
REM 2007 Portman Road. They played the day after 7/7.They came on stage walked to the front and made a speech about how London was and then launched into Everybody Hurts... Floods of tears everywhere including me... 😔 😔
Ds2 enjoyed the Muppets at the 02!!🤣 🤣 🤣
