Best concert you’ve been to

Feeling nostalgic and thinking back to my favourite concerts I’ve been to in my time.

Mine would be Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, P!nk, Rihanna, Evanescence, Eminem, Christina Aguilera.

I envy those 10+ years older than me that got to experience some incredible performers such as Michael Jackson, live in concert.

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 I’m so jealous. I’ve got such a silly, schoolgirl crush on Harry. And I’m 44. 😳

ObjectionHearsay · 17/05/2022 13:27

Muse, hands down the best bloody concert I have been to!

Absolutely amazed me! They really were a band you needed to see live, the hype was all genuine 😂

I got lucky, a friend came down with a really bad flu so she had a spare ticket and gave it to me.

Favourite is Fallen, favourite song is a tie between Tourniquet and Hello.

Fallen is Evanescence’s best body of work imo. But I also love Open Door.

Favourite songs from Fallen:

My Immortal
Hello
Tourniquet
Everybody’s Fool
Haunted
Going Under
Bring Me to Life

Favourite songs from Open Door:

Lacrymosa
Lithium
Your Star
All That I’m Living For
Call Me When You’re Sober

But as for b-sides or unreleased, there are also so many but not going to list them all, except for Breathe No More and Understanding (the long version).

Oh, and Amy Lee’s cover of KoRn’s Thoughtless. Live! Incredible!

Okay I’ll stop now 🤐

Rage against the machine, Glastonbury 94.

10,000 person mosh pit. We were peaking on acid at the time, and it was a mix of bright sunshine and thunderstorms.

I fucking love this. This sounds right up my street! Lol. Why couldn’t I have been born earlier, God? 🙏

Tulips21 · 17/05/2022 13:33

Also took DD to One Direction, they were quite good actually

I'm also 44!
I've loved him since the beginning, don't care what anyone says Grin
You know he's reading the CBeebies bedtime story on Monday night right?

SneakAttackDamage · 17/05/2022 13:35

Bruce Springsteen
Muse
The Killers
The Rolling Stones
Foo Fighters
Ed Sheeran (genuinely surprised how much I enjoyed his music!)

Saw them four times, including at Murrayfield which was Zayne's last tour.

ETgo · 17/05/2022 13:36

Eminem at Twickenham 2018/2019?? And Aerosmith in Las Vegas 2019 - absolutely AMAZING!!
Gutted they cancelled they're European tour this year 😢

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 17/05/2022 13:37

I'm also seeing Pet Shop Boys, The Killers and Crowded House this summer, looking v much forward to all three.

runnerblade95 · 17/05/2022 13:37

Anyone ever seen KoRn live by any chance? Like, in their prime? Or even recently? Neither matters to be honest because their talent and music ethic is timeless.

thestarvingcaterpillar · 17/05/2022 13:39

Rick Astley and Blossoms doing The Smiths songs, INCREDIBLE!!! It shouldn't have worked but somehow it just did!

DPotter · 17/05/2022 13:44

These date me.....

The Police at Wembley arena in 1984 or 85

Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel - Queens hall, Bradford (brilliant venue) 1992 or 93

The Saw Doctors - 1993 - Leeds Uni student union

islamann · 17/05/2022 13:45

George Michael on his 25 tour. His voice was flawless.
Elton John supported by Scissor Sisters. Camp as Christmas and the best fun. EJ didn't leave the stage for the whole 2hrs.
U2 Achtung Baby (before Bono became a dickhead).
Muse were spectacular, massively key down by their support act Dizzee Rascal, who was crap. Bastille also supported tho which redeemed the show somewhat.
I was also lucky enough to be at Live8, while not close enough to the stage to see anything, the atmosphere was amazing.

jj98x · 17/05/2022 13:48

No don’t stop you just said Lacrymosa, BNM and they’re cover of Thoughtless! You certainly know your Evanescence 😉

Oh my goodness. I will be tuning in for that 😀

Also jealous of the gigs you’re going to see this summer. Crowded House especially- that will be absolutely brilliant, I bet. I’ve never seen them live but can imagine they’re the sort of band that will sound amazing live. Not all bands are good live. Stone Roses I’m looking at you. Specifically Ian.

We’re going to see the Chili Peppers in Glasgow this summer which I’m very excited about!

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 17/05/2022 13:53

ELO and The Eagles at Wembley just before the pandemic.

Also saw the Stereophonics at the arena. I will never forget everyone singing red to Dakota.

Halestorm and Faithless were my 2 all time favourites - I’m going to see Evanescence in November at the o2. This summer I’m most looking forward to seeing Billy Talent and Rise Against.

My God, the studio version of Lacrymosa rocks but have you seen their performance on the Synthesis Live DVD (I think it was a 2016 tour). Just wow. Her vocals live are even more flawless than on the studio version.

Breathe No More is just … Ugh. Takes me away to another place. As a fellow pianist, I appreciate both how fluent she is on the piano but how well she sings whilst playing. Not an easy thing to do!

Last but definitely not least, Yes! Their performance of Thoughtless was legendary.

NewIdeasToday · 17/05/2022 14:09

Enjoying reminiscing to some of these.

My best concerts to date include Bruce Springsteen, the Saw Doctors and the Levellers many times. All fab.

Paul Simon in Hyde Park a few years ago was amazing. And Art Garfunkel in beautiful venue in Manchester where I actually cried because it was so perfect and amazing.

Now looking forward to seeing Harry Styles twice in June at Wembley. For any other fans, his One Night Only in New York on Friday (date of his album release) is meant to be streamed on Apple. Should be amazing.

WeddingBella · 17/05/2022 14:12

Michael Jackson was the first person I ever saw live and he set the bar so so high! I had the ticket for my 7th birthday - was the Dangerous tour I think.
I remember the atmosphere more than the actual gig but it was amazing.

Saw Take That on the Never Forget tour which was a huge entertaining production. I was 12 and loved every cheesy boy band second.

Saw Alicia Keys on her first UK tour and she was excellent - her band muddled up songs and they were all playing something different so she stopped them and sang on her own until they figured it out. Her voice was amazing.

Stereophonics, supported by Ocean Colour Scene and Feeder was a great too - it felt more like they were tour sharing as they all did a full set.

I took DH to see Foo Fighters who I'm not a fan of particularly. It was the tour when DG broke his leg. So glad I got to see them with TH on drums as I became a bit of a fan after seeing them live.

We have Greenday and Elton John coming up and I'm looking forward to both of those!

DidgeDoolittle · 17/05/2022 14:14

Absolute best concerts were;
David Bowie
Bruce Springsteen
Leonard Cohen
The Who

Honourable mention to;
Stereophonics
Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel

Best concerts for the sheer joy of it all
The Sex Pistols
The Clash
The Damned
The Buzzcocks
All in the late '70s at the height of their fame. Fantastic.
