Best concert you’ve been to

Feeling nostalgic and thinking back to my favourite concerts I’ve been to in my time.

Mine would be Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, P!nk, Rihanna, Evanescence, Eminem, Christina Aguilera.

I envy those 10+ years older than me that got to experience some incredible performers such as Michael Jackson, live in concert.

Muse are pretty good live, but hands down, the best live act I've ever seen is Rammstein. Just incredible. Burnt my eyebrows off.

Would have loved to have seen Michael Jackson. The tickets must have been astronomically expensive!

Michael Jackson had very reasonable ticket prices and not the most expensive around. They just went quickly!

Michael Jackson & Friends Munich, Germany 1999. Michael's stage presence blew everyone away in a 72,000 capacity stadium. Bridge during Earth Song collapsed with him on it.

Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary concert in New York City right before 9/11. 7th September for me. Electrifying to see Michael with his brothers again with his parents watching on.

This Is It - had FIVE tickets including front row for opening night. It would have been amazing. But the dream died 25th June 2009 weeks away from first concert.

Seen the best and no way for the rest to compete.

Bonjovi in 2006 in Milton Keynes. Amazing night!

I was there, I concur

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 17/05/2022 19:18

Unless you want front row, I don't find tickets that expensive.
.

Generally you can be there for around £50 for arenas, £90 for seated at stadiums, (I need seated due to disability).
Some are less, I've not seen any for more than that and both Ticketmaster and Twickets do resale where you can't sell for more than face value.

I’m sorry but I’m totally invested in this thread now, God help me! 😩😄

But this…. THIS… is the performance I wish I had been alive to witness.

The synchronisation when he spins and drops to the floor at 8:14 to coincide with the choir, not a millisecond offbeat, is just out of this world to me.

What a soul and a talent to take from us 😢

Still breaks my heart to this day that he is no longer with us.

Lonelycrab · 17/05/2022 19:21

Queen at Main Road in 1986, amazing. With Status Quo supporting, what a gig that was.

Would LOVE to see Muse.

runnerblade95 · 17/05/2022 19:27

@Lonelycrab shit, it’s not working for some reason. Would you mind sending me the link via PM please? Thank you!

BigBadBoom · 17/05/2022 19:27

@runnerblade95 I've seen the Foos about five times, they're always great! Won't be the same without Taylor though 😥

runnerblade95 · 17/05/2022 19:28

@Lonelycrab oh ignore me, it’s asking me to verify my age, that’s all. Thanks again! :)

Oh of course! Taylor was fucking insane, nobody could possibly replace him! But I just love Dave’s vocals. Just out of this world imo. I love him!

Derrymum123 · 17/05/2022 19:32

UB40 in 1983 in Birmingham. Absolutely fantastic. Never been to a better concert, ever.

EspeciallyDistracted · 17/05/2022 19:33

Queen at Wembley in 1986, supported by INXS, Big Country and Status Quo. What a night that was.

StarCourt · 17/05/2022 19:41

Metallica at Download and in Manchester
Gary Numan - a small gig
Aerosmith every time I've seen them
Pink Floyd in the grounds of a French chateau
Take That
Duran Duran
Tom Jones
Rolling Stones

Sunnysal · 17/05/2022 19:42

I'm old enough to have seen, Prince, Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen and Eric Clapton in their prime. All of them ledgens couldn't choose the best but probably the Stones in Sheffield .

This!

Yes before the days of video phones and other distractions. We actually got to watch and experience everything first hand. One of the best nights of my life!

jj98x · 17/05/2022 19:56

@Sunnysal Prince, Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, you are so lucky! I bet they were amazing!

Leonard Cohen here too I think although very hard to decide.
Line up I'm most glad I saw was Human Waste Project supporting Tura Satana in 90s. I saw Muse supporting Skunk Anansie way back too and was unimpressed, would never have thought they'd get huge.
I got a bit happy tearful and overwhelmed at Patti Smith a couple of times, and Blur at Glastonbury. Bruce is brilliant but the venue was too big.
Most fun: Dreadzone, Benjamin Zephaniah's Revolutionary Minds, New York Dolls, Natty with Rebel Ship and Little Simz.
One that was very good despite my not really knowing any songs or being a fan beforehand was Ghostpoet.

Tempted to get a ticket for the current incarnation of Pop Will Eat Itself later this year as from this thread it sounds like they're good live.

theremustonlybeone · 17/05/2022 20:07

i saw Bob Dylan in finsbury park in around 1994. He was crap which was very disappointing but Van Morrison and Hot house flowers made up for it. They were fab

Elderflower14 · 17/05/2022 20:11

Forgot to add to my previous post.. INXS in 1991...Summer XS

msssm · 17/05/2022 20:14

Should have read to the end, loads that I'm reading and nodding my head to!!! @msssm Ricky Warwick doing his solo stuff is pretty immense to, he does a couple of Almighty tracks and always meets fans to chat at the end, such a lovely guy.
Also yy to Halestorm, the recent tour where they did the stripped back set first instead of a support was outstanding, can you tell we missed gigs over lockdown and are making up for lost time now!!!!

Have you heard him with Thin Lizzy? Would have loved to have seen that. I met him doing a record store sign in in Glasgow when I was pregnant with my first child (30 years ago now ouch). Still remember it the guys were lovely.
