Nicest celebrity you’ve ever met?

BiscuitLover3678 · 09/05/2022 20:22

A positive and uplifting thread, hopefully people will give proper names as it’s a compliment to the celebs!

I haven’t met any so can’t say but would love to know who’s lovely.

OP posts:

Also Harry and Megan were lovely and my DP has spent quite a bit of time with Harry and says he is a great bloke, really down to earth

NarcissasMumintheDoghouse · 10/05/2022 15:33

Ernie Wise.

(Just want to get it out there that I met him once, really)

Oh, and a Certain Celebrity used to walk his dogs in the local park every Tuesday when my daughter's primary school class were doing PE. Really nice man, let the children pat the dogs, polite to the kids.

Can you see who it is yet?

So glad. He seems adorable, but you can never tell.

What really gets me about Richard E Grant is that when he was filming Withnail & I not only did the director make him get drunk so he knew what it was like (he's allergic to alcohol) but he'd just lost his baby daughter.

MardyOldGoth · 10/05/2022 15:40

I met Richard O'Brien when I was a student. I was drunk as a skunk and kept asking him for more autographs 'and for my best friend... and for my boyfriend... and for my flatmate...' and he patiently obliged. I apologised for being a pain and being so obviously hammered and he just laughed.

I love that! He's brilliant - you can't write Rocky Horror and not be loads of fun!

Very creepy!
(Not referring to Ernie Wise btw)

Agreed. It was actually at a Rocky Horror themed party at the student union. Someone had chanced it by asking if he'd come and judge the costume contest and he did. I think that suggests that he's pretty nice and down to earth.

A third-hand "nice celeb" story from me - my boss's sister was on a flight from the UK to US (or it might have been the other way round) with Victoria Beckham. Apparently she was chatty and very sweet to everyone.

As soon as the seatbelt signs went off after take off she went straight to the loos, took off all her make up and changed into a tracksuit. Then about half an hour before landing she went back to the loos, changed into some designer gear and put her make up back on.

Ooh I have one...Michele Dotrice(Betty from Some Mothers Do 'Ave Them) and her husband Edward Woodward. Had sunday lunch with them at their Cornish home and they were absolutley delightful!! Edward was poorly at the time too and yet utterly charming and charismatic

Ozzie Yue who was the Chinese man in that Father Ted episode and Nuns on the Run. Him and his wife are absolutely lovely.
Claire King is very friendly, funny and down to earth.

Claire King sometimes shopped in the supermarket were I used to work. Always friendly and polite, worlds away from the Kim Tate character. Every man over the age of about 30 had a huge crush on her and used to fight over who was going to serve her 😅😅

This is nice to hear. Love him and Rocky Horror.

Jill Dando. She was just the warmest, sweetest person. I worked in travel and looked after her (and her entourage) for 10 days back in 90s as the filmed for the holiday tv show. I remember where I was the day she was shot dead and actually had a cry. She gave me the most lovely sarong as a gift before the crew left resort, I still have it.

I know 😏 Did you live in Maidenhead? I grew up there and saw RH loads of times. He nicked my dad's parking space when they were both waiting to park. He was so rude 🙄

Martin Kemp

Yes, Nigel Havers is lovely. I went with a group of colleagues to a Buckingham Palace garden party and we all went for lunch in a swanky place beforehand, paid for by our place of work. Nigel Havers was at another table with his wife and was very happy to chat and autograph our invitations to the garden party. He made a group of nurses and carers very happy by being so lovely, it really added to our enjoyment of the day.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/05/2022 16:43

I doubt Nigel Havers' stepson would think he was quite as nice as all that....

Why?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/05/2022 17:28

Sorry, two stepsons actually.

His wife left her money to her own sons and he took them to court to fight them for it, claiming that she 'hadn't made reasonable financial provision' for him - impoverished, unknown, failed actor as he is....

Another vote for Terry Pratchett.

marshmallowmama · 10/05/2022 18:09

Havent met her but I think Stacy Solomon seems like a dream

highdaysandholudays · 10/05/2022 18:26

John Challis who was Boycie in only fools. What an utterly charming man. Me and my friend got a photo and a Boycie cuddle. He was lovely.

BlancmanegeBunny · 10/05/2022 18:40

Bonnie Tyler!! Warm, down-to-earth and very funny.

Greg Davies was eating dinner alone in the corner of a hotel restaurant, I saw him come in very discreetly and it was obvious he just wanted to eat quietly, it was quite late in the evening. Two different groups of people went over to talk to him while he was eating!!!! He was very polite but I wouldn't have blamed him for telling them to leave him alone.

Happydays321 · 10/05/2022 18:45

Met Dom from dick and dom in the bungalow in a park.
He was just lovely, really charming with the sweetest dog. I had no idea who he was so I was happily chatting about dogs with him, my DH knew who he was.

NarcissasMumintheDoghouse · 10/05/2022 18:54

@LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana

Yes, we live in Maidenhead.

We used to see him around town regularly. I'd see him in the park walking his dogs when I was walking a friend's dog, and I'd smile and nod and he'd waive. I've seen him queuing for sarnies in M & S and shopping for bits in Waitrose, and driving around in his battered estate. All before the court case.

My older daughter (working for Partners at the time) sold him a shredder. (I've told that story many times.) The older staff there warned her that he was "handy". (I'd forgotten that until now....)
