Nicest celebrity you’ve ever met?

BiscuitLover3678 · 09/05/2022 20:22

A positive and uplifting thread, hopefully people will give proper names as it’s a compliment to the celebs!

I haven’t met any so can’t say but would love to know who’s lovely.

Bill Nighy.

Swoon.

I concur. Lovely man.

Blueuggboots · 10/05/2022 02:32

Nadiya Hussain is just a complete sweetheart.

AllyCatTown · 10/05/2022 03:12

I’ve never met a celeb but I know someone who had minor role in Renee Zelweger film and he said she was lovely.

Likewise I know people who had met Ian Banks and he was lovely too.

GaiaWise · 10/05/2022 03:33

Met and loved:

Joanna lumley - Warm and charming
Michael Ball - gorgeous, smiley, warm and v funny.
Imelda Staunton - funny, unpretentious, interesting
Rob Brydon - charming and self deprecating.

Maggie Smith was charming but also cool and untouchable. Very much the star but totally mesmerising.

DrNo007 · 10/05/2022 04:28

Jane Goodall—not really sure if she counts as a sleb but she is lovely and goes out of her way to help a good cause that she believes in. Alan Titchmarsh—what you see on TV is what you get in real life (nice kind man who is not full of himself at all).

Dave Allen. Back in the 1990s in Covent Garden. Lovely man.

I've lived my whole life out in the sticks, so have only ever met a small handful of celebs.

Nicest was probably David Nicholls, very charming. Also Toyah Wilcox - just out and about, very nice and polite to staff.

David Nicholls is the best! I've met him a couple of times - an absolutely lovely man.

So pleased to read good things about Michael Palin. I’ve had a crush on him for about 30 years!!

He’s on my imaginary famous person dinner party guest list, along with David Attenborough, Dolly Parton, Ricky Gervais, JK Rowling and Lyse Doucet 😂

Vampirethriller · 10/05/2022 06:01

Bradley from S Club 7, very sweet and funny
Kelly Llorena, lovely, very friendly.
Tilda Swinton told my sister she was beautiful so she's on my good list too!

Ds2 met Phil Spencer outside his flat a couple of weeks ago... Lovely man. Ds taught him how to sign house! ☺ ☺

I think it's been established that Anthony Head is the nicest celeb that MNers have met.

And Russell Brand is the most shagged sleb by MNers.

Haha really?

Sara Cox was very sweet and understanding when we were having trouble with autistic DC's behaviour in a theatre at a kid's show and she was in the seat in front. It probably wouldn't have been clear that behaviour was due to SN but she was forgiving anyway.

CockleburIck · 10/05/2022 08:31

Michael Sheen - very lovely
Ray Winstone - so gentlemanly
Marti Pellow - nice, kind, good-humoured (but did love himself!)
Iain Banks - lovely

InconvenientPeg · 10/05/2022 08:42

Helen Skelton, I was doing all the dogs body work on our site when she came to film but she was so interested in everything, and everyone, and also very knowledgeable about the subject we were filming about. I hadn't even expected to speak to her, because I just thought we'd all be too busy to stop, so having a half hour putting the world to rights chat was a lovely surprise!

saggyhairyass · 10/05/2022 08:50

Saw Cheryl Baker at work and she was nice and friendly.
Not me, but DH, is acquainted with Sir Mark Rylance through his job and he says he's an absolute gent. No airs and graces at all.

ElizabethBennetismybestfriend · 10/05/2022 08:50

Sting. Absolutely lovely.

Chaoslatte · 10/05/2022 08:57

Tom Hiddleston, bumped into him at the theatre (he was also in the audience, not performing) and he was lovely and happy to chat about the play

SuziLikeSuziQ · 10/05/2022 09:00

Terry Wogan was lovely! He was signing books where I worked and I sent an email which he read out that morning on his radio show. He then asked to see me when he got there (I was working on a different floor) and gave me a signed book and a big hug. I was starstruck!

I also met Oz Clarke at a book signing of his I'd organised. He brought a few bottles of wine and me and some of the other staff had a drink with him afterwards on the shopfloor!

Jane Fonda at another book signing at work (can you see a theme?!). She was very chatty and lovely.

Ian Lavender when he was in Sister Act (not a book signing!). It was a friends hen party and I saw him coming out of the stage for afterwards. I asked if he wouldn't mind a photo with the bride and he was really nice and let us take some group shots and gave the bride a massive hug!

All mine are a bit old school. I don't meet famous people anymore!

FetchezLaVache · 10/05/2022 09:12

Hugo Speer is utterly lovely.

Hugh Dennis - approached him and Steve Punt for autographs in the McDonald's in my small town when I was 15 after a good 10 minutes lingering near their table trying to pluck up the courage - they could have annoyed, but they were both charming and very funny.

DP had an accidental night on the piss with the late Geoffrey Hughes many years ago, he was very down to earth and great fun.

BoandNu · 10/05/2022 09:18

Lee Stafford was lovely

clairethewitch70 · 10/05/2022 09:23

Professor Ronald Hutton is lovely. Met him several times and is my favorite celebrity. I am a bit of a fan girl 😁

Vile man.

AffIt · 10/05/2022 10:06

Dylan Moran was a frequent customer in the bookshop I worked in when I was a student, and he was very nice - very quiet and polite, actually verging on shy, but would always have a bit of a chat about the books he was buying, or ask for recommendations.

I am delighted to hear that (and very, very jealous of) the MNers who have met Michael Palin have unanimously said that he is lovely.

ElizabethBennetismybestfriend · 10/05/2022 10:55

Antony Sher. Amazing actor and lovely man.

I once looked for a spare seat in a really busy cafe. There was one opposite a man working on his laptop. He looked up and gave me the sweetest friendliest 'Of course you are welcome to sit down' smile. It was Hugh Dennis. His face just looked so gentle and genuine. Another table became free so I left him alone but I've had a soft spot for him ever since because it was so not cheesy or Look at me I'm famous. It was just smiley happy man in cafe open to sharing his table. It made me think he must be a nice man.

I’m so glad to hear this. He does seem so gentle and lovely.
