Nicest celebrity you’ve ever met?

A positive and uplifting thread, hopefully people will give proper names as it’s a compliment to the celebs!

I haven’t met any so can’t say but would love to know who’s lovely.

OP posts:

Unsurprisingly, Michael Palin. He told me that my sponge cake was the best he’d ever eaten 😂

JennyForeigner · 09/05/2022 21:05

Bill Nighy.

Swoon.

JennyForeigner · 09/05/2022 21:06

Mind you, I am prepared to give Stanley Tucci some time if he wants to be in the running

TokenGinger · 09/05/2022 21:16

Brooke Vincent is lovely. Very down to earth and a very attentive mum to her boys.

Pete Waterman is brilliant. Andy Burnham (not sure he counts as a celeb but I love him) is also really nice. I've come across both of them through my role at work and both remembered/remember my name, ask how I am, etc. It means a lot to me, especially with Andy who will come across hundreds of people a week that he remembers my name and asks how I am. That probably sounds really pathetic but my role can quite often been seen as bottom of the pecking order by the senior people who attend, so it's nice for me.

Richard E Grant. He’s at an event I do each year and is always completely charming and goes out of his way to thank every member of staff personally. A real gent.

Coco9910 · 09/05/2022 21:20

Tim Burton is 100% the nicest, down to earth celebrity I’ve met!

soundofsilver · 09/05/2022 21:21

Ed Balls was really lovely and has a good sense of humour

TheDogsMother · 09/05/2022 21:22

Julie Walters lives locally to me so Ive seen her in a few places. She's always really smiley and pleasant.

FourChimneys · 09/05/2022 21:22

David Attenborough. Just as lovely as you would expect.

EscapeTheCastle · 09/05/2022 21:48

Billy Connolly.
I was serving him in a shop and he chatted to me for ages about very interesting things. A very fond memory for me as I had always enjoyed his work and there he was chatting to me like an old friend.
I met a lot of famous people and on the whole they were all pretty nice and starry.

Aw that’s nice to know. I really like him on TV and loved his autobiography.
I saw him once in a cafe in Barnes but he was with his daughter so didn’t want to bother him.

SallyWD · 09/05/2022 21:50

I met Barbara Windsor and she was sweet and kind even though she looked exhausted and clearly didn't want to be there!

Jane McDonald! An absolute sweetheart, properly lovely.

Also Sir Ian McKellen, I was new to my industry in a very junior role when I met him, he treated everyone with equal respect and warmth.

Chafingthedream · 09/05/2022 22:00

David Suchet, Joanna Lumley and David Attenborough- all class acts and so lovely to talk to.

vinoandbrie · 09/05/2022 22:03

Richard Madeley - just lovely 😊

Anothercuppatea82 · 09/05/2022 22:05

These are people a close family member have met but:
Debbie Mgee - exceptionally lovely. Same goes for Peter Andre and Kate Garraway.

I've met Katie Hopkins, must be about 15 years ago and she was lovely?

DFOD · 09/05/2022 22:06

Martin Kemp.

I had no idea who I was talking to on a random dog walk in the countryside. Was struck by how beautiful this older man was - chiselled features, blue sparkly eyes - and really warm and interested in the dogs (one of his only had 3 legs).

It was only later when I was in the car and was wondering about his outfit - dark green frock coat and fingerless cream beaded gloves (which he said were belonged to his wife) - that the penny dropped.

He was incredibly charismatic and lovely. That stood out before I knew who he was.

AdriftAbroad1 · 09/05/2022 22:06

Bob Geldof genuine very clever and very generous.

Controversially, Johnny Depp. Very lovely and kind.

Limahl. He sang me Never ending Story!

Iced · 09/05/2022 22:07

Charlotte Church was lovely
Very chatty and polite

Edward Fox was lovely when I met him, he insisted on getting me a chair from the other side of the room, even though I was nearer. Very handsome too.

Pity about his nephew....

Ohh I'm so glad, he is fabulous. I've just watched the shooting party again, he is such an incredibly talented man.

DingDongBellPussysInTheWell · 09/05/2022 22:14

Jenny McAlpine, Fizz from Corrie was really nice.
Stephen Mulherne was lovely too, we saw him completely off duty and he had a stream of people ask for selfies etc and he accepted every single one with a smile. Bloody extraordinary if you ask me, there were loads and he was out having a drink.

YesThisIsMe · 09/05/2022 22:15

Sir Terry Pratchett. Met him a few times socially and he was always just as lovely as you'd hope.

Neil Gaiman also a charmer. I still owe him ten pence he shouted me for the laundrette.

I met Bob Holness and Victoria Coren Mitchell while they were "on duty" but they were both great with contestants.

alexdgr8 · 09/05/2022 22:17

Jane Asher.
genuine, kind, and hard-working. compassionate.

YesThisIsMe · 09/05/2022 22:21

Also queued up with DD to meet Daniel Radcliffe after we'd been to see a play he was in, and I was so impressed by his charm and patience with all the fans, given that he'd been on stage non-stop for two hours and was then putting in another hour of meet and greet after every show for relatively minimal pay.
