A positive and uplifting thread, hopefully people will give proper names as it’s a compliment to the celebs!

I haven’t met any so can’t say but would love to know who’s lovely.

Bill Nighy.

Swoon.

So pleased!!! And agree with the swoon!!!

HarrietSchulenberg · 09/05/2022 22:22

Another vote for Michael Palin. He let me go in front of him in the work tea bar as he was getting the brews in for his publishing team at the time and had a lot to get.
Fred Dibnah was nice too, very engaging and funny.

I met Ian Hislop and Jeremy Paxman at a private media event. Both were utterly charming- Ian H in particular, exquisite manners and chivalrous in a (predictably) old-fashioned way.

I once looked for a spare seat in a really busy cafe. There was one opposite a man working on his laptop. He looked up and gave me the sweetest friendliest 'Of course you are welcome to sit down' smile. It was Hugh Dennis. His face just looked so gentle and genuine. Another table became free so I left him alone but I've had a soft spot for him ever since because it was so not cheesy or Look at me I'm famous. It was just smiley happy man in cafe open to sharing his table. It made me think he must be a nice man.

DB has worked with Jane Asher and speaks highly of her general loveliness.

VintageGibbon · 09/05/2022 22:23

Oh and I once worked for a few weeks with James Purefoy who was absolutely lovely always. Very gentle natured. Years ago before he was famous so I hope he still is.

Tschecked · 09/05/2022 22:25

I met Daniel Ricardo recently and thought he was a really likeable bloke. Easy to talk to.

TheQuern · 09/05/2022 22:25

Michelle Yeoh. Sweet and gentle.

Joanna Lumley was lovely to my aunt which I really noticed because I was a horrible teenager at the time and cringing madly at my aunt’s behaviour.

i was unintentionally rude to Stephen Fry (I was trying so hard not to gush I accidentally reversed into affected boredom - another teenage incident) and he just behaved beautifully.

Ed Balls was really lovely and has a good sense of humour

Good to know. I have a slight, uncool crush on him.

GremlinDolphin4 · 09/05/2022 22:26

Keith Brymer Jones

Robin Ellis (the original Poldark!)

HollowTalk · 09/05/2022 22:27

Bill Nighy.

Swoon.

I'm so happy to read this. Apart from my inner circle, He is hands down my absolute favourite person - ever. I watch him in EVERYTHING.

Dontlickthetrolley · 09/05/2022 22:28

Mr Maker!

We've met him twice, he's soooooo lovely. (I've posted this before and there's a mumsnetter who went to school with him and repeated how lovely he is!)

ssd · 09/05/2022 22:29

Lovely to hear of these stories of decent celebs

FourFourthsDontCare · 09/05/2022 22:31

Another for David Attenborough.

ssd · 09/05/2022 22:31

Meant to add mine.....Jim Kerr from simple minds, served him and his girlfriend in a shop, he was lovely and friendly

BeachBonfire · 09/05/2022 22:31

FabulousKilljoys · 09/05/2022 22:31

Jared Leto
Gerard Way
Derren Brown
Russell Brand
James Martin

All lovely, chatty, friendly and genuinely engaging people. Pleasure to have met them on more than one occasion.

candlesandpitchforks · 09/05/2022 22:33

Lewis Hamilton is just the nicest guy ever. Time to chat and really very funny, down to earth.

Georgeskitchen · 09/05/2022 22:33

John McArdle, the scouse actor known for Brookside, among other things. He lives fairly local to me (not sure if he still does) used to see him out and about, always smiled and said hello to people, top guy

florianfortescue · 09/05/2022 22:33

Emma Freud. I went to her house in Notting Hill to film a very short clip of her. It could have been done in 10 mins but we all ended up spending most of the day there as she was just so charming and lovely and wouldn't let us leave!

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 09/05/2022 22:33

David guest was remarkably pleasant.
tbh the few celebs I have met have been perfectly nice. I tend not to bother them whilst out and about because they deserve a private life. The ones I have spoken to have talked to me first.
Christopher Ellison is a darling. He used to come into my shop quite regularly and I’ve had several convos with him.

patsy Palmer was super nice. We’d parked outside her house years ago whilst going to a maternity appointment, she was outside talking to her friend and when we arrived back to the car she greeted us and asked us how we were doing, congratulations etc. she also had a full blown convo with my Nan whilst in Clinton’s 😁

I know someone that met Jeffrey dean morgan and she said he’s the nicest guy ever, so sweet etc.... (jealous.com)

dom (from dick and Dom) is a cool guy. Came to my house for filming something years ago. Was talking to him outside and I was almost late to work 😂😂

Gagaandgag · 09/05/2022 22:42

So nice to hear good things about celebs you get a ‘good feeling’ about

Julia Walters
Stephen Fry
Billy Connelly
Bill Nighy
Joanna Lumley
Hugh Dennis
David Attenborough

I adore listening to all of their voices too!
My son is currently listening to the Winnie the Pooh audiobook - read by Stephen fry!!! So good!

Gagaandgag · 09/05/2022 22:43

*Julie Walters

downtozero · 09/05/2022 22:47

Colin Jackson. Met him a few times with work and he was charming, chatty and genuine. Also Andy Murray!
