Nicest celebrity you’ve ever met?

A positive and uplifting thread, hopefully people will give proper names as it’s a compliment to the celebs!

I haven’t met any so can’t say but would love to know who’s lovely.

Boy George… an absolute legend. He was just thoroughly decent and gorgeous when I met him.

I'm so glad you said this, after someone dissed him on the other thread! I met him when I was a teenager, I was cripplingly shy but starstruck at the same time, he must have seen the emotions on my face, stopped to chat to me and pulled me in for a hug when he was going 😍. He smelled gorgeous as well.

I also met Celia Imrie in New York when we were on holiday. I'm one of those annoying people who chats to everyone (not shy any more!) so I had actually started talking to her in a queue in a sandwich shop before I realised who she was. I then pretended that I didn't know who she was anyway, and just kept blethering on at her. She was very, very funny, with beautiful skin and such twinkly eyes.

George Micheal was the loveliest person I ever met. I worked in the music industry when I was young and I met some wankers. He was always so kind and used to check if I was okay when he came into where I was working as my boss was a notorious tosser.

LeeMucklowesCurtains · 10/05/2022 12:58

Antony Keidis and Flea from the Chilli Peppers are both just lovely too. They always took time to chat to everyone and Antony has this calming,
gentle feel to him. He always remembered the names of peoples children and asked how they were doing.

Richard E Grant. He’s at an event I do each year and is always completely charming and goes out of his way to thank every member of staff personally. A real gent.

So glad. He seems adorable, but you can never tell.

These are so nice to hear

Charles Dance was really nice, friendly and not at all luvvy.

Jimmy Yuill was a real sweetheart.

Finty Williams (Judi Dench's daughter), was really down to earth, approachable and easy to chat to, like an old friend.

Michael Elphick was one of the nicest men I met as a child.

Toby Jones, another really nice person.

Keanu Reeves, shy, but very sweet.

Ralph Fiennes has a wicked sense of humour.

FooFighter99 · 10/05/2022 13:08

Does Andy Burnham count? Met him at work and he was so lovely! Then bumped into him in our local Asda a few months ago 😊totally fan-girled over him (oh the shame)

buggeringbuggery · 10/05/2022 13:09

@LeeMucklowesCurtains That's lovely to hear about George Michael. A lot has come out about his generosity and being an all round wonderful human since his death. I would have loved to have met him.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 10/05/2022 13:28

Can confirm about George Michael. Utterly lovely man.

Janet Jackson is really nice, and surprisingly down-to-earth and relatable considering the upbringing she had and her level of fame.

Derek Landy - author of the Skulduggery Pleasant books - is a sweetheart, generous with his time and very funny and charismatic.

Jane Horrocks is a bit shy and quite a serious person, but very easy to work with and extremely nice once you get to know her a bit.

Controversial one but Frankie Boyle is whip-smart, great company and not at all like his act.

Simon Webbe (Blue) is a great guy, kind and very funny.

DorritLittle · 10/05/2022 13:32

Apart from a few minor sightings (Helen Mirren, Jeremy Irons, Gary Wilmott...) I have only ever met the Cbeebies presenters, in a line up for autographs. They were all absolutely lovely but that's unsurprising.

nearlyspringyay · 10/05/2022 13:37

Sue Pollard and very surprisingly Chris Evans.

Deadringer · 10/05/2022 13:43

My sister meets Cillian Murphy regularly when she is walking her dog, he is always lovely and friendly.

RockedThemAll · 10/05/2022 09:25

Vile man.

Why???

Deadringer · 10/05/2022 13:50

I met Bono many times years ago as his dc went to the same school as mine (just an ordinary school, not private or exclusive) he often did the school pick up and came to the sports days and school fairs etc just like the other dads. He would often be roped into spinning the wheel for the raffle and stuff like that and he did it with grace and minimum fuss.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/05/2022 13:56

It's fascinating how many of the nicest celebrities on here are the same ones as the nastiest ones in the other thread!

It seems that George Michael was unassailably at the far 'nicest' end and a certain 60s singer and dating show presenter wedged in firmly at the far 'nastiest' end; but the rest is very much a dynamic spectrum!

WaterWall22 · 10/05/2022 14:05

Jamelia - really chilled and friendly

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 10/05/2022 14:06

Happy to report that Bob Mortimer is bloody lovely.

He’s as sweet, funny and downright random as he appears on TV.

ladygindiva · 10/05/2022 14:11

Never met Anthony Head. But I have met Joely Richardson, she asked me for directions. Really polite and sweet, and ridiculously flawless and beautiful .

faw2009 · 10/05/2022 15:11

Zoe Ball offered her train seat to me. My son had sat down next to her and I was behind him. She has the bluest eyes!

bloodyplanes · 10/05/2022 15:20

Billy Connolly and June Brown, both such lovely, chatty down to earth people.

MardyOldGoth · 10/05/2022 15:21

James Dean Bradfield. An absolute gentleman.

I often see him a small gigs of a band I follow - bopping about in his trilby. I have never bothered him - but might give him a smile next time.

AffIt · 10/05/2022 10:06

Dylan Moran was a frequent customer in the bookshop I worked in when I was a student, and he was very nice - very quiet and polite, actually verging on shy, but would always have a bit of a chat about the books he was buying, or ask for recommendations.

I am delighted to hear that (and very, very jealous of) the MNers who have met Michael Palin have unanimously said that he is lovely.

Yes! I've met him too. He was quite shy but very polite and pleasant.

MardyOldGoth · 10/05/2022 15:26

Morten Harket. Only met him for a couple of minutes but he was very smiley and friendly. And still bloody gorgeous! 😍

anothernamedoesntsmellsosweet · 10/05/2022 15:28

My daughter was in panto with Linda Lusardi and her husband. She would come home from shows talking about her friend Linda unaware that she was her dads big crush from yesteryear! They were both absolutely lovely people
