Why have I imposed this ridiculous rule on myself?

I seem to have developed a rule whereby I can only have one banana a day.. I’m not sure when it started but it’s been many years.

My husband has just brought me one for breakfast and I’m in a state of mild panic because I know I’ve packed one for my lunch!

I don’t have any such control or habits with any other food stuffs-yesterday I ate 2 hot cross buns, the day before I had 2 packets of crisps so it’s not like it’s doing me many favours on the calories front.

i love bananas and they are a lot healthier than crisps etc so why do I feel like this?!

In answer to your question, because you're mad.

I always remember my mum telling me when I was a child that one shouldn't have more than one banana a day as one man did so and he died. She also had some other strange rules e.g. one should never wash one's hair on a Tuesday or a Thursday or turn a mattress as these things brought bad luck. I know that it is silly but I still worry about these things and avoid washing my hair on a Tuesday or Thursday whenever possible. I never turn the mattress (too heavy) but I have been known to eat more than one banana a day.
