In the light of the hefty current backlog of processing passport applications, I thought it might be informative to start a thread for keeping an eye on other people's timelines for the applications for and renewal of UK passports. Personally, I'm hoping for reassurance at best, or a grim-faced reality check at worst.
I'll start. How about this format:
Type of passport requested: 2x DC UK renewals
Date of application: 18th of April
Method: Check and Send at local post office
Anyone want to add their stats?

Type of passport requested: 1x Adult UK renewal
Date of application: 22nd of March
Method: Online

Application processed at Liverpool Passport Office. Took 3 weeks in total.

Cubangal · 27/04/2022 00:27

Two weeks, one at Liverpool and one at somewhere in Northamptonshire I think.

Cubangal · 27/04/2022 00:28

1 adult renewal and 1 new adult passport to replace an expired child one.

Why have they got rid of the option to use your driving licence photo ?

Lessofallthisunpleasantness · 27/04/2022 00:29

There is a twitter page that does this but anyway. Kids renewal. 23 days. Arrived 3 days before our trip! Amazingly lucky.

Lessofallthisunpleasantness · 27/04/2022 00:30

This is it.

EveSix · 27/04/2022 01:04

Interesting! I suppose we should say whether we're still waiting.
I'll check out the Twitter link too.
There is such a weird discrepancy in waiting times.

Update as of today.

Passport A ...being printed.

Passport B...approved.

Passport C ...no update.still at documents received.

EveSix · 28/04/2022 01:23

I received a message to say my application (both or just one!?) has been received, that it'll take 10 weeks and not to call for updates. Yikes.

They told us that but it was about two weeks

bizzey · 28/04/2022 12:08

Passport A ..due to arrive today .

Getting a bit concerned about passport C .!

Beees · 28/04/2022 12:15

Type of passport requested: adult renewal.
Date of application: 8th March.
Method: using the online service.

Thought I'd add as even though my passport was renewed in March and it arrived 4 weeks 1 day later I still have yet to receive the old passport or supporting documents back yet. According to the 2 people I've spoken to on the phone this is really common and it's sometimes taking months for documents to arrive back even if like me you paid the extra money to have them returned.

nearlyspringyay · 28/04/2022 12:26

2x child renewals
8 days from posting to arrival, got them on Monday

bizzey · 28/04/2022 12:26

Wow , that is frustrating about the supporting documents and old passport !

Yes I paid the extra £5 as well.

Good to know though.

Thought it might be useful as obviously they require original documents so if you needed them for something else after the holiday or to take with you such as a child's birth certificate I wouldn't hold your breath getting them back in a timely manner.

I am surprised they don't mention it when you send them in but given how long it takes its maybe not that surprising they would keep the knowledge to themselves.

bizzey · 28/04/2022 13:26

I vaguely remember something about it being 2 weeksish.

Though at the moment I will just be glad when my passport C gets approved .

bizzey · 28/04/2022 13:36

Passport A is in my hand !!!
16 days start to finish , including Easter BH 's.

dementedpixie · 28/04/2022 13:42

I dont think that was ever an option. You can use the passport one for a driving licence renewal though

bizzey · 28/04/2022 15:51

Message to say Passport B is being printed !

bizzey · 28/04/2022 15:52

Very concerned that Passport C has not even been approved yet 🫤

bizzey · 28/04/2022 17:27

I am over panicking though !
Don't need it till mid July !!
