Amber Heard has now alleged Johnny Depp sexually assaulted her at the start of the defamation trial. Thoughts?

I think the reason this is bothering me is that it that on the one hand, victims should be believed but on the other, sometimes people obviously lie.

It's a really tricky thing to navigate. I wonder how the outcome of this might influence further cases.

Well he did threaten to rape her in his texts to Paul Bettany, so I wouldn't be too surprised

His lawyers were allowed to state that no prospective jury members should be supportive of the #MeToo movement

Both were volatile but she had the video evidence of him smashing things and being verbally abusive.

Ah ok, I didn't know those details.

It wasn't so much about who they are but rather than the issues it raises. The fact they are in the public eye means we obviously get the details through the case but there must be many other cases like this.

Yet she has been abusive to a previous partner. She has been recorded admitting to hitting him and preventing him from leaving.

I believe her.
Not saying she's perfect, but I believe what she says about him.
He has brought a case against her - she can't "shut up and fuck off".

Amber's ex wife has stated time, time, and time again that Amber was never abusive towards her.
Although we can't possibly know for certain if this is true, everyone seems to believe Wynona Ryder when she says Johnny wasn't abusive towards her. I believe Wynona, abusers dont have to be abusive to every partner.

Tim Burton made it clear that he did not approve of Johnny's behaviour towards Kate Moss when he was dating her.

Its not uncommon for victims of abusive to eventually snap and lash out at their abuser, and the abuser then uses this as evidence that they themselves are being abused.

Does anyone remember the Little Mo story line in EastEnders?

This exactly. Overlooked every single time. Victims don’t have to be perfect doormats to be a ‘real’ victim.

Although I did think shitting - literally, in the marital bed was vile (Amber)
I'm a child of abuse, abusive parents, have been involved in physical abuse myself.
No way was this a 'Little Mo' incident - which was so well played and fucking horrific and with what I grew up with.
They were both off their faces and hated each other.
Neither can let it go now.

She didn't lie though, the evidence of him storming around smashing things while verbally abusing her was recorded. That's why she won the case. Also the violent misogynist texts he sent to Bettany that we know about (there must be more he sent to others who are protecting him). What more evidence does a woman need before people like you hold abusive men to account?

I think those of you who are saying "both" are not understanding that this is "all" Depp - the libel case against the Sun and now this case -"ALL" brought by Depp.
And no - you don't have to be perfect to have been abused.
