Amber Heard - new accusations

Amber Heard has now alleged Johnny Depp sexually assaulted her at the start of the defamation trial. Thoughts?

The case was brought by Johnny against the newspaper, or media group, NOT against Amber. Amber agreed to be a witness for the defence.
Johnny was probably told that The Sun was low hanging fruit, a cheap tabloid, an easy win. But the judge decided that on the basis of probability, (NOT beyond all reasonable doubt as it was not a criminal case) The Sun were justified in calling Johnny a "wife beater" as it was likely that he did abuse Amber.

Although, no one would win against Rupert Murdoch...

I do believe Amber, on the basis of probability, that Johnny was abusive towards her.
Its not Amber who keeps dragging it back up, its Johnny. Amber wrote an article about being the victim of DV, she never named Johnny as the abuser.

People like me? I am a survivor of both domestic and sexual assault but thank you.

I'm not going to pretend I have researched the goings on between them. When I saw this today I thought about the wider implications for the average person in situations such as these.

At no point have I said who I think is lying or who isn't. I wasn't there and have no idea.

I will, however, now google these texts that have been mentioned.

I think they were both very toxic and have probably both behaved appallingly. Though his career has definitely taken more of a hit.

I'll stop hogging the thread (!!)

But Women's Aid and other charities, and mumsnet for that matter, recommend that women record the abuse as evidence. Amber did this with screenshots, videos, and photos.

And she was treated like some scheming whore who planned and trapped poor johnny...

The mental gymnastics some people will go to in order to excuse the behaviour of this bloated, self important, man chil, old pirate is beyond my comprehension really ....and why? Because he was good in a film? Because he used to be handsome? Because you fancied him at one point?

Remember when he used to go around pretending he was Native American? Even making a vanity project film about it (The Brave) which was panned by critics so he withdrew it from sale in America....he can't handle criticism or rejection.

I would urge anyone to read the Rolling Stone article on Johnny and his finances .....eye opening....

Amber's ex wife has stated time, time, and time again that Amber was never abusive towards her. Although we can't possibly know for certain if this is true, everyone seems to believe Wynona Ryder when she says Johnny wasn't abusive towards her. I believe Wynona, abusers dont have to be abusive to every partner.

Tim Burton made it clear that he did not approve of Johnny's behaviour towards Kate Moss when he was dating her.

Its not uncommon for victims of abusive to eventually snap and lash out at their abuser, and the abuser then uses this as evidence that they themselves are being abused.

Does anyone remember the Little Mo story line in EastEnders?

I remember that story line. It was awful. Such an important issue to raise awareness of, quite harrowing at the time.

I believe JD was/is an alcoholic drug addict who violently beat AH.
He for some reason came to believe he was Capt Jack Sparrow amd had enough yes men around him to allow just about anything other than some sensible chat.
He will continue to pursue AH until someone tells him he’s a good boy

AH has simply been called as a witness in the lawsuit Depp lost against The Sun and now JD has started this case against her. JD needs to give it a rest - he has been proven to be an abuser in the U.K. courts

I just want to reiterate I did not start this thread to blame one or the other (thinking of @dworkypost, I apologise if I was insensitive.)

I've been on the side where (some) people have believed a 'charming' man over me because of how good they were at manipulating people around them, and it also reminded me of a case a few years ago (not too far distant past but can't remember when) where an Oxford student charged with rape and thrown out of uni but on appeal it transpired the accuser had deleted incriminating facebook messages and he was eventually cleared.

If nothing else I think this is highlighting both sides and that was the reason for the initial thread.

That Johnny Depp used to get drunk, trash hotel rooms with Kate in them, and scream and beg for Wynona Ryder

Interestingly, neither Tim nor Helena have come out in favour or support of Johnny. Tim appears to have quietly dropped him (I could be completely wrong about that, I just personally haven't seen anything)

@KitBumbleB Tim was happy to keep casting him in movies until this came out, so he can't have been that bothered about his behaviour towards Kate Moss. Sounds like he's just saving his own skin.
