Boris has been fined - Tory voters, should he go?

Both Johnson and Sunak have received fines for the lockdown parties. No further details as yet.

Do any Conservative voters here think Boris should resign?

I reckon Sunak will resign. He's having an awful time anyway (entirely his own doing) and could be of the view that he's so rich, he doesn't need this shit.

So my theory is he resigns, saying if you've got a fine as a Minister, it's a resigning matter. Throws the ball right into Johnson's court, put massive pressure on Johnson, and gets his own back for No 10 briefing against him.

He goes and sets up a jolly lovely life in California, hideous pressure on Johnson and the circus continues...

ColourHex · 12/04/2022 14:29

I'm a floating voter but never been a fan of Johnson. I do think he's done quite a good job with the Ukraine war (although not the refugee stuff)

But he should go. He broke the law, a law he made! Any last bit of integrity has gone

beattieedny · 12/04/2022 14:30

Lifelong tory here. Never a fan of BJ et al, I'm more of a small c tory, small gov, with responsibile public spending, but looking after those who are in need etc. I am disgusted by his behaviour and that of all the wankers in the cabinet. They are disgraceful.

OF COURSE they should go

They arrogantly broke THEIR OWN FUCKING LAW that the rest of us adhered to Hmm

OctopusSay · 12/04/2022 14:31

Neither of them will.go.

There's so much wrong with it all:

-Partying, even if you believed at the time it was within the rules as work related, while you set the rules that meant people like me and my DC were unable to visit dying DH in hospital.

  • Lying about it continuously, thus treating the electorate with contempt.
  • The sheer utter waste of forcing the police inquiry rather than coming clean.

I don't think the parties themselves made any difference to covid risk, but it matters. It matters a lot.

LaurieFairyCake · 12/04/2022 14:31

And lied

And denied

(Repeatedly)

No greater cuntishness

ItsSnowJokes · 12/04/2022 14:31

He should go. He won't sadly but he should. I don't care who takes over at the current moment in time as I just want a general election.

Roussette · 12/04/2022 14:32

Thank you beattieedny you give me hope

OctopusSay · 12/04/2022 14:32

I'm sure it's all coincidence that this news has come out alongside the news of things escalating in Ukraine....

itsgettingweird · 12/04/2022 14:34

I think I should email my Tory MP and ask her what she thinks.

She's the Attorny general.

Even Cruella must be able to pull her head out of Boris arse for a few seconds to accept that breaking the law doesn't make him the best leader of the Tory party.

I could even try and catch her at one of her photo shorts when she comes and stays at her mums house which is why we got stuck with her as our MP!

It's so scary how ,any people will try and defend the indefensible.

NiceTwin · 12/04/2022 14:35

No

Notonthestairs · 12/04/2022 14:36

It's also the Easter recess so MP's aren't sitting. No PMQ's.
AlexaShutUp · 12/04/2022 14:36

I think Sunak will go too. And that will make life very tricky for Boris.

User843976 · 12/04/2022 14:37

I'm a Tory voter but not a staunch one, I have voted LD in the past also, I think they should both go but I think only Sunak will because of all the other stuff about taxes and green card at the moment, BJ will hang on

ilovesooty · 12/04/2022 14:37

@freebritknee

Yes he should go.

He makes the rules.

He leads this country.

He should lead by example.

He broke the rules.

He thought he was above the rules.

He has been found out.

He should not be able to get away with it.

But no, he probably won't.

And he lied to Parliament.
OctopusSay · 12/04/2022 14:38

I wouldn't put it past Johnson to sack Sunak whilst defending his own position Grin He really does think we're that stupid, and so far, he ses to be right.

KonTikki · 12/04/2022 14:39

Rishi should box clever here, resign as a point of principle, (can his week get any worse), leaving Boris hung out to dry.
Oh thankyou God, can this get any better Grin

DGRossetti · 12/04/2022 14:40

And he lied to Parliament.

And the Queen. Which speaking as a staunch royalist is reason enough for him to go whatever other peccadilloes he may have accrued.

midsomermurderess · 12/04/2022 14:40

We'll be hit with a wall-to-wall Rees-Mogg anti-charm offensive for days now.

Applesonthelawn · 12/04/2022 14:40

Probably not, but I just can't feel strongly about it.

MedusasBadHairDay · 12/04/2022 14:41

He won't go, the Tory party will keep him in power a long as they can. Then when a general election is imminent they'll force him out so they can put forward a new leader unsullied by this mess. Knowing that the general public will treat this as a clean slate, and vote them in again.

Franklin12 · 12/04/2022 14:41

So I am a Tory voter. Labour have been screaming for everyone to resign since Johnson got in power. Its what Labour do - they moan from the sidelines but history has taught us that they are bloody useless in power bar Blair and a new Blair isnt coming anytime soon.

So we are effectively stuck with what we have. Labour are a mess, what is a women, Raynor who is just awful and completely out of her depth. The Far Left have ruined it for Labour to get into power. Corbyn was a disgrace and all over the place. Many Labour supporters on MN stated that if Starmer was in power he would have walked it yet he has been a wet weekend.

We are stuck with Tories regardless. You can moan and whinge but unless anything comes along that is better the country is going to vote again and again for them.

I welcome a strong opposition. Labour isnt it!

The parties were shameful but even if we had an election tomorrow Boris and co would still get in with a majority almost definitely not 80 though. Dont talk about the Libs. They are hopeless.

LadyCluck · 12/04/2022 14:43

Of course he should. He won’t though.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 12/04/2022 14:44

Actually yes, Sunak resigning now would really tighten the thumbscrews. Could be a really smart move. (And whatever you think of Sunak, he's not an idiot.)

Although Johnson would probably just make Nadine Dorries chancellor and fuck off on holiday (again) so where would we be

Livelovebehappy · 12/04/2022 14:44

I’m a Tory voter, and no I don’t think he should go. There are no alternatives, especially as Sunak has also been fined (would have seen Sunak as a good alternative). Surprisingly, although it’s too early to be sure, not a lot of condemnation from Tory voters tbh. People are a bit ‘meh’ about it.
