I have a 24 hour ban on facebook now for saying "you're a dog mate" to a man/woman with a dog avatar, who asked if I was a child because my avatar is a cartoon.

I previously got a ban on facebook for saying "I wish we had a store here" in the comments to a shop advertisement.

@burstcouch

My cousin got a 24 hour ban for saying he was going for a fag
@burstcouch That's understandable, the word 'f-g' is deeply, deeply and utterly offensive everywhere in the world, apart from the UK, apparently.
HangingRock25 · 11/04/2022 08:12

@VelvetChairGirl It's nothing remotely to do with America, the f-g word is deeply offensive all over the world, including Australia, New Zealand, in China, and even in Finland. That the UK still allow that word is disgraceful. It was banned from all advertising and public use in Australia in the 80s.

DropYourSword · 11/04/2022 08:20

I have a feeling it might be coming soon after not so politely requesting someone fuck off with their sanctimonious twattery.
I just feel sorry for OPs getting kicked when they're down.

FatCatThinCat · 11/04/2022 08:24

I got a 30 day Facebook ban for saying that if Johnson triggered article 16 the US would hand him his arse on a plate.

marcopront · 11/04/2022 08:31

I got a month ban for suggesting someone advertising jobs for English teachers should have their advert proof read.

poorbuthappy · 11/04/2022 08:39

I got a FB ban for sayings - well there are idiots everywhere. I wasn't even referring to the person I was having a disagreement with, I was referring to the person we were talking about.

HollowTalk · 11/04/2022 09:02

I can't remember why but I reported one of my own posts and asked for it to be deleted on here. It wasn't abusive or anything like that and I can't remember what it was but maybe it was the wrong thread or something. I got a nasty message from MNHQ saying that they were banning me for a week, I think, because I'd been reported. I'd reported myself and there was no way anyone else would have reported the post. There was also something about "they had their eye on me". I was HmmHmmHmm

You can't ban people from using slang just because it is offensive in a completely different context.

Would you ban all advertising for "Brains Faggots"?

HangingRock25 · 11/04/2022 09:19

@FleshLiabilities It isn't 'slang'. It is a deeply offensive slur. No different to the N word. And banned WORLDWIDE. For a reason. You wouldn't allow the N word to be said, so why all the F-- word?

HangingRock25 · 11/04/2022 09:20

@FleshLiabilities "Brains Faggots" I have no idea what that is, but YES, I would. Just as I would ban Brains N---er".

DrNo007 · 11/04/2022 09:23

Friend of mine got banned on here for talking about the documented adverse events from the covid shots. He is a research scientist. Go figure.

Google it - faggots are meatballs, have been around for years (centuries). Mr Brains faggots is like Heinz beans.

GreyCarpet · 11/04/2022 09:28

Are you from the UK? Faggots is a legitimate name that describes the foodstuff. It's been the name for years. They're essentially spiced meatballs made with cheap offcuts of meat and offal. Mr Brains has been making them since 1935 apparently.

The fact you don't know what they are suggests you're not from the UK, are very young or have had a very sheltered upbringing... They're terribly common and but great with mash and mushy peas Wink

HangingRock25 · 11/04/2022 09:31

No, I'm not from the UK.

Regardless, the word is now considered offensive and surely should be re-named. There is no excuse ever for that word. Ever.

RaspberryChouxBuns · 11/04/2022 09:32

I got banned for commenting on a picture of a sleeping newborn baby "Ah poor little thing, out for the count after a long journey". Apparently either the algorithm or someone who saw my post thought that I was calling the baby a thing and didn't realise it was a term of endearment!

@HangingRock25 stick to writing it as the N word. No need to have the er spelling at all

marcopront · 11/04/2022 09:43

Do you know that "fag" is slang for cigarette in the UK?

Ok. Good luck with that. 🙄

HangingRock25 · 11/04/2022 09:45

@marcopront You're not getting my point. The point is that it shouldn't be used at all. Full stop.

Have a read of this article which lists words in English that are offensive in other languages.

www.afar.com/magazine/10-english-words-with-unfortunate-meanings-in-other-languages/amp

Are you suggesting we stop using them?

GreyCarpet · 11/04/2022 09:49

Not here it's not...

Here, it's a food stuff.

it means a ciggy here or a meat based product (well offal based) we've been eating them for at least 200 years

OP posts:
HangingRock25 · 11/04/2022 09:51

@GreyCarpet It is still deeply offensive to decent people in the UK. Just as the N word is deeply offensive to decent people in the UK. And it's a foodstuff that can be renamed.

HangingRock25 · 11/04/2022 09:52

@marcopront So lets allow the N word then, too, shall we?

CatsArePeople · 11/04/2022 09:52

Picture of a couple hugging flagged as pornography on facebook. 30 days ban
