I have a 24 hour ban on facebook now for saying "you're a dog mate" to a man/woman with a dog avatar, who asked if I was a child because my avatar is a cartoon.

I previously got a ban on facebook for saying "I wish we had a store here" in the comments to a shop advertisement.

My cousin got a 24 hour ban for saying he was going for a fag

DropYourSword · 10/04/2022 19:28

@girlmom21

You don't get bans without warnings so, whilst some of these seem daft, you've got to be intentionally difficult, at the very least.
That's just not true!

I’m currently on a Facebook ban for harassment and bullying because a random chap messaged me with vile dick pictures so before blocking him, I screenshot his profile and made a post to warn my female friends not to open any messages from him because of what he had sent me.

I reported his messages and nothing was done but according to FB I’m I’m the wrong ‘un for warning others about him.

oh god you cant say anything like that because americanisation is forced upon us, no having brains faggots for tea for you. cant call a homeless person a tramp, pencil eraser instead of rubber etc.

in a way its a form of global imperialism they are enforcing their language on us by banning use of regional words.

This isn't a bad thing

SilverHairedCat · 10/04/2022 19:42

Not banned from social media, but banned from a local Facebook page.

Because I said the local (idiot) complaining on the page about the butchers not letting her bring her dog into the shop was, erm, an idiot.

On which platform?

I was banned on Twitter before I even posted anything or followed anyone. There was no warning, and I could not get an explanation - they kept opening tickets (at my request) and closing them in 24 hours without explaining what the issue was and how to remedy it.

I was only able to get more info because a former co-worker's partner works for them and looked up my account to find the problem. There was no explanation internally of what the issue was and the employee who banned me did so without a manager or peer review, so they reinstated me. They ARE required to inform people of outside complaints if the complainant or the account holder are in certain jurisdictions, but not if you're banned or restricted on the initiative of a Twitter associate.

I've been kicked out if two FB groups.

The first was a Disney group and apparently my use of the rolling eyes emoji was "too aggressive".

The second was a Lake District Walking group. Someone posted a picture of them-self having a lovely time in the snow "earlier today". I pointed out that I could see the fell from my bedroom window and there hadn't been any snow on it since the previous winter.

Oh I love arguing/ pointing out stuff like this.

Many years ago I was banned from eBay groups because I posted some pictures of vintage saucy postcards in a group I was in that celebrated all things from yesteryear such as Carry on Films etc.

The actual postcards were ok to be sold on eBay though!

DemBonesDemBones · 10/04/2022 19:52

Told my friend I'd knock them up in the morning (as in, knock on their door...) and got banned for threatening language!

RightOnTheEdge · 10/04/2022 19:58

I've never been banned but I got a warning for calling someone a donut and also commenting "I'd kill someone" jokingly on a friends post without thinking.

I've reported animal abuse, racist comments and people using disgusting words about disabled people. None of them were removed because they didn't break the guidelines Confused

LynetteScavo · 10/04/2022 19:58

I've never had a ban, but I did get a perfectly true statement deleted on MN once. It really shouldn't have been deleted IMO. MN couldn't say why it was deleted, but just kept quoting my post at me. I am still bitter 10 years later.

WingingItSince1973 · 10/04/2022 20:01

I had a Facebook ban when a photo I uploaded was reported for nudity. It was of dh and me standing on a Welsh beach in March wrapped head to toe in the thickest clothes, hats and scarves you could think of 🤣 Maybe our faces were the nude part! I contested it and was restored to respectability once more 🤣

TheFormidableMrsC · 10/04/2022 20:03

I got a 30 day ban for agreeing with my friend that she should kill her husband. It was lighthearted of course. I love them both. FB algorithms had me down as a serial killer 🙄

WingingItSince1973 · 10/04/2022 20:03

@Theunamedcat

someone told me my special needs child should be dead there was no need to bring him into the world and its only right and fair that medical treatment be restricted for the likes of him and so on the vile word vomit made me sick i reported it and commented "your nasty" i got a ban for bullying there vile comment was allowed to stand as it "didn't violate community guidelines" i challenged it as far as i could but got nowhere
That is absolutely disgusting and surely that was hate speech and that person should have been looked into and banned! Am so sorry xxx
20viona · 10/04/2022 20:04

I got a story removed off Insta because I said 'I'd kill for a five guys right now' 🤣🤣 obviously on about the burger joint.

lightand · 10/04/2022 20:04

Ha!

For saying a social media site was out to make a profit.
Of course it was! Though many disagreed at the time! They know better now though.

I can be ahead of my time. Which gets me into trouble. If I say the same things years later, everyone is well on board by that time.

PersonIrresponsible · 10/04/2022 20:09

For calling myself fat and funny. Apparently Facebook has issues with me...

WorriedMillie · 10/04/2022 20:13

I got a warning for discussing building a patio
(Not as in Brookside)
I’m guessing the fact that people do joke? about building patios in that sense, resulted in a few trigger words 🤣

Billandben444 · 10/04/2022 20:20

I got a FB ban for referring to a female dog as a black and tan bitch. No warning. I was kicked off/blocked permanently from a Spanish holiday site on FB - no idea why which was frustrating.

FannylovesDick · 10/04/2022 20:27

For telling the medium Colin Fry he was a fraud (about the trumpet incident) on a forum way back in the day.

They let me back on again after a day or two.

7spanishangels · 10/04/2022 20:32

I was going through chemo and I had just lost the last of my hair so put up a meme saying fuck you cancer and one of my so called friend got offended and I got a months ban

kyiv · 10/04/2022 20:34

For correctly identifying a rodent in a photograph as a "fancy rat."

Sodie · 10/04/2022 20:43

I lost my instagram account because apparently I comment 😊❤ too often. I couldn't remember the log in, nothing worked. I cried.
