...he never comes back?

Why? What did you think I was going to say?

He’s such a hero, isn’t he? Russians withdraw from Kyiv and off he goes for his photo op. Bet he didn’t go in that Union Jack plane we all paid for.

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 09/04/2022 22:32

😆😆😆

Thanks for the laugh op

Squiff70 · 09/04/2022 22:33

Can we trade him for Zelenskyy?

Whelmed · 09/04/2022 22:34

I hate that politicians will use it as a photo op and good pr for themselves but is there a chance it will also help boost the morale of Ukrainians to see the support from top politicians from Europe?

GooseyLucie · 09/04/2022 22:35

So embarrassing to see him next to Zelensky.

vdbfamily · 09/04/2022 22:36

A friend of ours works for an NGO and just spent 9 days in Ukraine working with government officials. Apparently the Ukrainians absolutely LOVE Boris. He has apparently done everything he can short of joining the war to support their efforts according to them. He will be warmly received there.

ssd · 09/04/2022 22:37

I thought you were going to say worse Grin

....and take his bloody party with him

marjayy · 09/04/2022 22:41

Can't say I'd be gutted if a bomb happened to fall on his twatty head.

I'd probably throw a party.

I don't think there's any doubt that BRITAIN has been a fantastic ally to Ukraine, not just since the war started but many months leading up to it. Johnson largely does what he's told, by anyone really. Thankfully in this case he listened to those who understand Putin.

That's not credit to Johnson though.

I wish we could! His people will follow him into a war. I wouldn't follow Boris through a door.

I agree.
desiringonlychild2022 · 09/04/2022 22:42

I read before that he has been dying to go to Kyiv. He believes he has a special connection with the Ukrainian people. Make of that what you will.

I suspect he thinks it's easier than dealing with domestic problems and he can also channel his inner Churchill.

That’s good to hear because the visa debacle made it look like we were doing fuck all
greenlynx · 09/04/2022 22:44

If Boris’s going to supply more weapons to Ukrainian army he can travel there for photos every week or even twice a week. I welcome that.

TBF - it's not a good idea flying in a plane over Ukraine at the moment.

I am sure Johnson is popular in Ukraine. The UK is supplying a lot of weapons to them and is implementing sanctions. We also aren't as reliant on Russian gas and oil.

It is no doubt good to meet in person - a video link is not the same.

I would hope that any UK Prime Minister would do the same and offer the same support to Ukraine.

As Macron is finding out - he can focus on the war in Ukraine but domestic politics still matter and he neglects those at his peril.
MySecretHistory · 09/04/2022 22:48

Where in Russia are his ancestors from?

To clarify- mine are from Russia but their home city is now in Ukraine

Is Boris the same?

Goooooood! They can keep him!
Pyri · 09/04/2022 22:53

I dunno, I think it’s pretty brave of him to actually go out there isn’t it?

Tangerinedreamisatheme · 09/04/2022 22:58

Go on the feminist threads. They love him Confused.

Ursula Van De Leyen (the EU President) went to Kyiv on Friday and also went to Bucha

www.euronews.com/2022/04/08/ursula-von-der-leyen-meets-volodymyr-zelenskyy-in-kyiv

But you won't find that reported widely in the UK press.

TooOldandTired · 09/04/2022 23:00

It's so depressing how many people in this country (or on mn) just have to have a go at BJ no matter what.
Why not just be proud of the support the UK has given Ukraine.
The Ukrainians do love him, because the British army has trained their soliders and provided more weapons to them than anyone else.

Aspiringmatriarch · 09/04/2022 23:02

Good for him. Mixed feelings on Boris. I think he's about 90% awful but 10% brilliant.
