Slightly over invested in this?
@BadDayForMe any update?

OP posts:
TheAbbotOfUnreason · 28/03/2022 15:08

The original thread is still there on Relationships.

Laiste · 28/03/2022 15:13

Oh bollocks Hmm

I actually logged on this morning to finish reading that and see if it was sorted.

@BattledoreAndShuttlecock

Good story though. ITV drama waiting to happen. I'm seeing Suranne Jones as the OP and James Nesbit as the not-golfer. But you'd need a murder in there as well. Possibly of the golf mate's wife?
Ha ha you even have the itv drama cast 😅😅😅👍🍷

@Lambanddog

I was thinking the DH's friend's wife would be a key character too. Who DID take the photo of her in bed with the kids if her husband was supposedly in Portugal Spain the Iberian Peninsula with the OP's DH. Is she a femme fatale with a secret lover? I'm thinking second wife/former OW, played by Lily James. Maybe the murder could be of the golfing friend's first wife, a shadowy Rebecca-like figure, and it turns out James Nesbitt was more involved with her than we thought...

No, OP's DH is having the affair with golfing friend's wife. He knew golfing friend was also having an affair and not going to be in Portugal so planted his phone on golfing friend in case OP became suspicious and tried to track him. He knows he may be caught but it mustn't be known who is affair partner is because she is his bosses sister.

The boss, played by Liam Neeson, is desperately in love with his wife. However he does a have a dark side, and some of his business practices border on the questionable. OPs husband is playing a very dangerous game
RJnomore1 · 28/03/2022 15:31

Well I for one am shocked and stunned.

(Not)

Ok so plotholes:

  1. The very obvious fact that her husband would have been notified if she tracked him.
  2. She forgot passports get stamped now and pretty much ignored that fact, even though it would give a conclusive answer as soon as he got home.
  3. No access to any of his bank accounts. Seems very unusual, for a couple who've been together 25 years they would normally at least have a joint account she would have access to.
  4. Not doing any of the very obvious suggestions, like contacting the hotel or the friend's wife. For someone who was very upset she didn't seem overly keen to actually do anything (except post on Mumsnet).

Like all the fake threads on Mumsnet, it was all just very convenient. Lovely drip-feed of updates and 'discoveries', all very well thought out.

GrandTheftWalrus · 28/03/2022 16:26

When did they start stamping passports again? I've only had mine stamped when going to Mexico and Tunisia.

I had mine stamped last year in Spain
Wentyworthy · 28/03/2022 16:33

Ffs I’ve been waiting all day to see what airport the phone turned up at

Plothole 1 isn't correct. If FindMy is already set up the other person doesn't get notified when you look to see where they are. You can set an alert for when they leave/arrive somewhere which does now alert them, only since one of the recent iOS updates though
AlternativePerspective · 28/03/2022 16:38

Troll or not, I don't know why people find some details so implausible. it’s not so much that it seems implausible, it’s the way these threads play out. So thread had started on Saturday night with multiple posts by the OP, who had never posted here before, and by last night it was full. Just in time to post a suspense thread for today.

By tomorrow we would have been on to thread3 and so on.

And the inventive thread title, for someone so distraught joining a site to post a thread about it with a title which read out of something from take-a-break just has alarm bells all over it.

Pot holes

Pot hole 1. Dh set up my phone and did all the acceptances etc at the start. All our family track each other with no notifications. I do use it but I can see why you’d forget it was on if you didn’t use it. I also know that I could find my devices but I never have needed to, so I don’t know how.

Plot hole two - I didn’t realise it’s stamped but that would be further evidence.

Plot hole 3 isn’t implausible either. My dh does our finances. I could have access if I wanted, but I have never bothered. Most of our investments are in my name anyway, so he’s not ripping me off, but I just don’t get involved with any of our current accounts.
I use my credit card for all transactions which gets paid off each month. I can’t even access my transactions, let alone his. I don’t have a problem with this.

Plot hole 4. I trust my dh but if there was anything as suspicious as this, I certainly wouldn’t be calling him. I’d be collecting evidence so he couldn’t wiggle out of it when I confronted him face to face.

So actually - not totally implausible. Of course you have to read everything with a pinch of salt, but your plot holes aren’t that a big plot hole.

danni0509 · 28/03/2022 17:22

I have been looking for this too, hope the OP is ok.

ForeverbyJudyBlume · 28/03/2022 17:28

I was telling my family about this at dinner, they immediately said it was clearly made-up. I totally fell for it!

This for all the same reasons! Husband and I do not have a joint bank account.We don’t have access to each other’s accounts. Didn’t know passports are now stamped Would have waited until he was home before confronting.
shinynewapple22 · 28/03/2022 17:48

Yeah I think what screams 'made up' is an elaborate story posted by a new or name-change poster. Particularly when the OP is so late in the evening.

The story itself I thought was initially believable. Took a long while for me to consider that it wasn't husband who was making up stories!

EveryCloudIsGrey · 28/03/2022 17:54

@Lockheart

Don't be such a ghoul. If it's real then it's a person having their life crumble. Not your next episode of Corrie.
If you think that then what's your reasoning for reading the original thread and clicking on this thread ?

Except for the fact that you don’t get notified. Sounds like her DH had it set up so she could track him for an unlimited time. So he’d never get a notification. You can put a tag in them to notify you when they leave a certain place for example, and then they will get notified but not for general tracking that’s been pre-authed.

Plotholes

1 - no idea, don't have an iphone
2 - I didn't know about Passport stamping and I don't understand why that's classed as a plothole, the story didn't hinge on that in any way
3 - I was with my ex dp for 20 years and never shared a bank account or credit card, that's totally believable
4 - posters wer saying not to ring so also how some people would act

The biggest iffy thing for me would be the jokey title, doesn't fit at all imo

This.

The 'oh I'm busy I will be back later' is common as well so always raises an eyebrow for me.

TomAllenWife · 28/03/2022 18:40

DP will be gutted Grin he was enjoying me updating him yesterday and kept laughing about how much shit the husband was gonna be in
