Slightly over invested in this?

Has the latest hoofed thread been deleted?

There seem to be so many of them at the moment and mumsnet not so keen to remove them. I don't click on that many threads but there are at least 4 long threads going on that are obviously trolls and the op's have vanished. Yet still people post. Some people post hints, but obviously too subtle for some. Confused

The 'Anonymous Letter' thread has been deleted: "Message from MNHQ: Thanks for your reports about this thread. Unfortunately we have a few concerns here so we're taking it down while we check things out behind the scenes".

I do think we have a Tall Tale Troll on the loose, with socks. Just keep reporting them.

I know MN needs traffic to generate revenue and keep the site free at the point of use; but if users start to suspect it's all bollocks they'll post less.

Re the TAAT thing - sometimes MNHQ let one stand to act as a dumping ground for posts, otherwise endless 'what happened?' threads spring up like the old Hydra's head (as was happening).

I commented on that one but suspected it wasn't genuine. It was the constant 'my friend said I should go to the police to get it fingerprinted'...as if!! I read at least a couple a week that I suspect aren't genuine, all posted in a similar style and all on Relationships rather than AIBU, which seems to give the people commenting a false sense of security.

Yes I thought the letter and the glass one look dodgy, made me evermore cynical than ever sadly.

There's a psychology PhD to be written about all this stuff. Maybe someone's doing exactly that ...
I think some students have been set a creative writing assignment.

Oh, for the days before mobiles when infidelity was simpler. One of my work colleagues, mother of 3 young children, told her husband she was away for a weekend conference in Birmingham but actually went to Hong Kong with her demon lover. Which shocked me, all I could think was what if something happens to one of the children while you're away, your husband won't know where to find you. Nothing bad happened, she went, she returned, she introduced the least likely looking demon lover I've ever seen to her colleagues then trotted off back to the family home. She was one of the most unpleasant people it's been my misfortune to meet.

ididntevennotice · 31/03/2022 15:28

Hong Kong, for a weekend?

longwayoff · 31/03/2022 15:33

Yes. Concorde I believe. Was a long time back. Those kids will be grown now and she's probably a granny. How she would hate that.

After so many years in mumsnet I don’t even care if the threads are real, as long as they provide a good discussion and I get to learn something new out of them… I’m fine.
