Slightly over invested in this?
@BadDayForMe any update?

OP posts:
teaandtoastwithmarmite · 28/03/2022 12:22

Why would anyone do that. I wasted loads of time reading that yesterday 🤦🏻‍♀️

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 28/03/2022 12:24

@livyaz

Ahhh, I was hoping there would be an update with a showdown at Bristol airport
I expect there are already gullible MNers camped out there in the arrivals hall
perimenofertility · 28/03/2022 12:34

The original post seemed plausible to me, and the OP said then she had never posted before.
As often with these posts, people who are bored at home fanned the flames, turned it into a drama, made wild suggestions, instead of actually helping the OP with support and genuine advice.
If the account has been suspended I can’t imagine she will bother to get it back. I hope she is ok and finds out her DH is rubbish at geography rather than is cheating.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 28/03/2022 12:47

Glad I saw this as I was just about to leave for Bristol airport Grin

Let's be honest, sitting reading MN is the definition of wasting loads of time anyway!
LaraDeSalle · 28/03/2022 12:52

Oh well....

VeryLongBeeeeep · 28/03/2022 12:55

When MNHQ say "we have concerns and have suspended their account", it pretty much means "everything points to this person being a big fat troll and what they're saying on their thread about being a first time poster does not correspond to our records about this IP address behind the scenes", so I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about an apparent upset newbie.

Riverlee · 28/03/2022 12:57

I really liked the title of the original thread as well.

VeryLongBeeeeep · 28/03/2022 13:00

@BattledoreAndShuttlecock

Good story though. ITV drama waiting to happen. I'm seeing Suranne Jones as the OP and James Nesbit as the not-golfer. But you'd need a murder in there as well. Possibly of the golf mate's wife?
I was thinking the DH's friend's wife would be a key character too. Who DID take the photo of her in bed with the kids if her husband was supposedly in Portugal Spain the Iberian Peninsula with the OP's DH. Is she a femme fatale with a secret lover? I'm thinking second wife/former OW, played by Lily James. Maybe the murder could be of the golfing friend's first wife, a shadowy Rebecca-like figure, and it turns out James Nesbitt was more involved with her than we thought...
TheAbbotOfUnreason · 28/03/2022 13:00

If it was all made up then it was carefully thought out - even down to afternoon flight arrivals. And the “who took the Mother’s Day photo of the friend’s wife?”

Riseholme · 28/03/2022 13:01

It was plausible to me because I remember meeting a friend's husband at our local airport.
I saw him in a bar as I walked back from duty free, he was on his phone deep in conversation.
He obviously saw me because he came over to dh and I about 5 minutes later and was making small talk.
He said he was off to a business event in Barcelona.
Dh and I were off to Nice.
He suddenly looked at the departures board and said oh that's my flight and left.
I looked at the board and couldn't see a flight for Barcelona.
I even commented to dh that there was no Barcelona flight on the board for that time.
Dh said I'd read it wrong.
I remember seeing an Amsterdam flight and thinking perhaps it was cheaper to go via Amsterdam but he wasn't the sort to do a long trip to save money.
A few months later the guy left his wife, he'd been having an affair for ages.
I'm convinced he went to Amsterdam that day.

JS87 · 28/03/2022 13:03

Why would someone make up a thread like that?

Lockheart · 28/03/2022 13:06

@JS87

Why would someone make up a thread like that?
Because idiots fall for it.
midsomermurderess · 28/03/2022 13:11

People just hollering 'I love rubbernecking other people's life meltdowns' all over here. Whether it was true or not.

I had a thread taken down because of concerns etc... not before I could see all the posters virtually rubbing their hands with glee at spotting a troll and laughing at how shit I was.

I emailed mumsnet. They apologised and put it back up the next day.

I was actually having a mental health crisis brought on by a shitty mentally abusive partner deliberately triggering past abuse. I was literally drowning and couldn't cope.

To then be treated like a fucking pariah on here nearly finished me off.

I've had calls of 'troll' for all sorts of posts. Even immediately after I had been attacked and was asking for help. It was too implausible apparently. I had the story of my attack picked apart for holes and inconsistencies. Thank god for sarc who picked up the pieces.

I haven't seen all of this posters thread. So I have no idea. But either way some tact and general niceness when dealing with these posts would be great. Mumsnet have always been clear. If you have doubts just report and they'll investigate.

QuebecBagnet · 28/03/2022 13:16

Thought it was slightly odd that she was either fb friends with the other guy’s wife so could see the photo……but said she wasn’t friends with her so couldn’t ask where her dh was. Or that this other mans wife has such an open fb account that random strangers can see photos of her in bed. I think 99.9% of people have fb set to friends only.

Metoo99 · 28/03/2022 13:17

I agree with you freedomhereicome.

QuebecBagnet · 28/03/2022 13:17

In fairness the rest of it seemed plausible. So possibly the other blokes wife is just not very good with fb security.

orangeisthenewpuce · 28/03/2022 13:18

99.9% of people don't have their settings that private. Honestly.
BattledoreAndShuttlecock · 28/03/2022 13:24

In the final ITV script it's all a cunning plan by the golf buddy to get OP's husband to give him cast iron alibi for murdering his wife.
He manipulates cheating husband into thinking it's all his idea that they'll go to Faro/Malaga where cheater will canoodle with floozy (Billy Piper with terrible Spanish accent and adorable secret toddler twins). Meanwhile golf buddy has chartered speedboat back to Dorset with cartel of (bonus points for topicality) people smugglers where he will dash up to Escape to the Country styled farmhouse, murder wife on Mothering Sunday for added pathos and then dash back to Malaga /Faro by, oh let's say hot air balloon.

And he'd have got away with it too, if it hadn't been for the OP's missing iPods.

dipdye · 28/03/2022 13:27

There isn't a second thread? Other than this one?

pompomseverywhere · 28/03/2022 13:28

I've come on here looking for a second thread too

RoseAndRose · 28/03/2022 13:29

The only plot hole was what needs to be done to set up Find My

The OP more or less washed her hands of that bit, saying that someone else must have done it

MangosteenSoda · 28/03/2022 13:33

Aww shit. I’m sitting in Costa at Bristol Intl arrivals looking out for returning 40 somethings with suspiciously clean golf clubs.

What a waste of a day.

grapewines · 28/03/2022 13:37

@newbiename

If it's not real - why do posters make up stories ?
Because they're very, very bored. It did read like something out of Take a Break.
