I’m starting to think that Russian intelligence comes from Internet forums and Twitter. Society seems divided when you’re online but in real life most people don’t express opinions or even talk about politics. Maybe I run in the wrong circles as even Brexit wasn’t especially divisive amongst my friends and family. Ditto covid, masks etc.

Definitely think there's some truth to this but to be fair, in the case of Brexit/ Trump election, these issues did break out into real world policies that Putin would have seen to be to his benefit. In this instance though I think it's another miscalculation on his part... talking of western imperialism and Russophobia is designed to bring the political left to his defence, and then dropping cancel culture in there to appeal to the right. What he doesn't seem to get is that what half of the western twittersphere despise is "literally killing (insert oppressed group here) with your violence" and what the other half can't stand is "suppressing freedom of speech" ... and he is pretty much the definition of both. So our politicians can spin the choices they're making to appeal across the spectrum

I wonder if a man who values lives not at all, I wonder if he genuinely cannot understand people who do. He sees that they do and he uses it, but sometimes it seems that he miscalculates simply because he does not get the concept that other people might care about others.

I'm not sure but it seems to hitting Twitter now. Surely he's confused and meant polish border? But some are taking it seriously!
